The Devil's Betrothed-Chapter 817: If They Could Ever Be Together
Arlan, Drayce, and Oriana, who had arrived there a while ago, heard her as well. So she was planning to return to Theron.
Drayce looked at Drayvor, his father, who remained unaffected in his place, but as a dragon he could understand that each word his mother said must have deeply hurt him. But then, Theron needed his wife as well—the one, who had been waiting for like a madman.
At the moment, Drayce didn’t know what to even think. Whom to pity—the two men or his mother? Maybe he should just accept his mother’s decision, as no one could understand things between these three other than herself.
Seren came out of the healing chamber once she was aware everyone had returned. She wanted to go to Drayce, and see her mate was alright.
The moment she saw him, she hugged him. "I am glad you are fine."
Drayce hugged her back to comfort her.
Just then the heavenly guard arrived, a magical string in his hand circling the neck of a huge white wolf. "Divine Emperor, I brought this wolf."
Everyone looked at Snowflake. Oriana walked ahead and used her sword quickly to break that magical string, glaring at the guard. "No one puts a leash on my pet’s neck. She is a free spirit."
The guard quickly got on one knee, respectfully bowing to her. "Apologies, Princess Esmeray. I should have been thoughtful."
"Princess Esmeray, I had to ask the guard to bring her here because the cave she was in was about to be destroyed after the wrath of the Deity of Fire caused destruction everywhere. My guard saved her," Solaris explained.
Oriana let it slide and thanked the Emperor with just a polite nod, no words.
The guard stood up and left, and she caressed Snowflake’s back. "Are you alright now?"
Through the mind link between them, Snowflake assured her that she was fine.
Evanthe turned to Oriana. "Can Snowflake take me back to the human realm?"
Oriana nodded. "She must have recovered by now. We all can return."
"You might consider letting your pet stay in the healing chamber for a while before you return. It will help her weak body," Solaris offered. "She seems a little weak after rounds of teleportation."
Oriana looked at him, and he said again, "Or you might like to visit the place your mother created here when she was a part of the heaven realm. It would be a great visit for you and your pet."
The place her mother had created? She looked at Arlan, who said, "Doesn’t seem like you would want to return to the heaven realm again. Why not take the opportunity to look at it while Snowflake heals here?"
She agreed, as Arlan always knew and said what she truly wanted.
Evanthe sighed, wondering how was she going to return now. She had to wait till Snowflake recovered.
Just as she done shaking head in resignation, her gaze met with Drayvor’s. He was clearly understanding what was in her mind. He was about to speak, but Evanthe said, "I will heal inside the chamber as well. Coming to this heaven realm, stripped me off my energy," and straight walked towards the healing chamber.
Drayvor couldn’t stop her, nor he could follow her inside the sacred healing chamber. She knew he couldn’t enter there, that meant she was trying to keep the distance between them.
Solaris came to Drayvor and patted his shoulder. "You do know she is way more thoughtful behind her stubbornness."
Drayvor hummed, his thought remained to himself. ’She won’t commit the same mistake like before, because she knows we can never be together.’
"Heaven realms allows me to revoke some decisions that doesn’t seem fit with the time," Solaris said as if he had guess what was in Drayvor’s mind.
He was talking about revoking the pledge once Drayvor was asked to take before he became the most powerful being.
Drayvor turned to Solaris, his gaze resolute. "I support her decision of returning to the human realm."
Solaris didn’t insist and said, "I will announce the punishment for Isis. If you wish, you can be there."
"There is no need of me now," Drayvor said, "It’s time for me to leave."
Solaris looked at Drayce, "It wouldn’t hurt to spend a few moments with your son."
Drayvor looked at him, only to meet Drayce’s gaze who was looking towards them.
Drayvor hummed, while Solaris and Grianor left.
Drayvor walked towards Drayce and Seren. Both of them offered him a respectful bow, unable to comprehend proper words.
They weren’t sure what to call him yet, as Evanthe clearly showed she had nothing to do with him.
Drayvor was the same, unsure what to talk to them like a normal family member, as they were nothing but strangers.
"Are you alright?" Drayvor asked his son, as it seemed to be the right way to start the conversation.
"I am," Drayce replied, himself loss at how to continue the conversation. "Thank you for asking."
Drayvor hummed and looked at Seren.
He put forward his hand and there appeared a tiny cloud darkness over his palm. once it was gone, there lay a tiny gold color leaf on his palm.
"This is for you. It will keep you safe from any power in the universe that ever tries to harm you. Nothing can reach you, as long as you have it."
Seren looked at Drayce for his opinion on accepting such a precious gift.
Drayce offered an assuring gaze, saying it was alright to accept.
The hellfire which had always been protecting her was gone now, so this was another protective shield for her. But, it won’t cause him any harm or pain the way hellfire caused.
The leaf floated in the air towards Seren. She put forward her hand and the leaf settled into her palm.
"Thank you so much....Lord of Darkness," Seren said and turned to Drayce, "I have to go to mother."
Drayce, offered a nod and she left. She was trying to give a father and son their time alone.
"Let’s go and check where your mother lived," Arlan offered as he wished to leave his friend alone as well.
Oriana and Arlan disappeared along with snowflake.
Drayvor mate Drayce’s gaze, "If you ever need any help, just call for me once. I will be there."
Drayce hummed, inside wondering what he should call him by? Lord of darkness or father? This was getting awkward.
"It’s not words that reach the person, but feelings and emotions," Drayvor said. "Just be true to your heart while calling me."
Damn! His father looked through his dilemma. He was most powerful for a reason to even read his thoughts so clearly.
"I will," Drayce spoke.
"I shall take a leave now," Drayvor said, "Take care." And disappeared, leaving the faint traces of darkness, behind. But along with that he felt the loneliness of his father.
He was bound to spend his life in isolation, in the place that connected three realms. No one’s there, other than himself. How could he live like that was impossible to think.
Drayce looked at the empty place before him, where Drayvor was standing a moment before, and thought of his mother.
’I wonder if they ever could be together.’
