Chapter 221: Hunting II

"It’s amusing to know that we’re going to be killing animals with our bare hands." Rama said in dry humor as they delved into the deeper parts of the forest.

"What else do we need love?" Draco queried sarcastically.

"Well, like normal people we could use guns or knives or perhaps even a bow and arrow." She reasoned out with a sigh.

"Well, we’re not normal love, also we are not only out here to hunt, we’re out here so you could learn to use your strength and speed properly, it was a flop back at the Blackthorne castle. You would have gotten yourself killed." Draco pointed out.

Abruptly, she halted to face him with wriggled brows "Well, you should have said that earlier and back at the Blackthorne castle..." She trailed off, biting down on her lower lip.

"It’s alright love, that’s why I’m here, aren’t I? It’s not so hard to learn at all, very easy you’ll get it in a blink of an eye." He said with an assuring smile as he snapped his fingers.

"It was supposed to be memorable memories of normalcy, but I have no choice now, do I?" She remarked.

"It is going to be memorable love, I promise this is the only time we’re ever going to use powers, I just wanted to teach you." He said, cupping her face.

"Fine, then the other days, no powers and no excuse." She warned sternly with squinted eyes.

"You have my word, feisty princess." He said with a sardonic smirk.

As they moved, they both heard the faint huffing of foot in the distance and they halted, lowering their bodies as they hid their presence behind a shrub.

Peering their gazes on the target using their heightened senses, a deer became perceptible to her sight. It was feeding and not alerted of their presence as they were a distance away.

She could hear its heart beating, the munching noise as it grazed and the constant huffing of its feet.

"That’s the target?" She enquired to be sure even though she knew it was.

"Yes, just relax and take a deep breath, focus your eyes on the prey." He whispered behind her with that hypnotic tone in his velvety voice.

"I don’t think I can, I always used guns but the thought of killing it with my bare hands...." She panicked as she crouched down on the floor.

"There’s no difference, don’t think too deeply about it love." He said with a swift remark, maintaining his gaze on the predator while expecting her to move.

Towering trees whispered secrets while the air hummed with the pulse of nature’s rhythm. Draco noticing that she still stayed unmoving, halted, turning to Rama with a gentle yet persuasive gleam in his eyes.

"Rama, your strength and speed surpass any creature in this realm, we’re now bound not only by souls, but physically. Embrace the power, let it guide you," Draco’s voice was a mixture of encouragement and conviction.

Rama hesitated, a flicker of uncertainty shadowing her gaze. "But to kill it in such a way... it feels wrong."

Draco placed a reassuring hand on her shoulder. "It’s not wrong, it’s survival. Feel the connection between your instincts and the forest. Let it empower you."

With measured steps, Draco guided Rama out of their hiding space, teaching her the silent dance of the predator. He showed her how to harness her vampiric abilities, to blend with the shadows and move as an extension of the forest itself.

As they neared the glade, where the majestic deer grazed peacefully, unaware of their presence, Rama’s heart raced, conflicted emotions clouding her determination. Draco sensed her hesitation.

"Rama, focus on the balance of life and death. Feel the energy pulsating around us," Draco’s voice carried an almost hypnotic tone.

She shook her head, taking steps back away from the glade, but then Draco grasped her arm gently and came to a conclusion.

"Fine then, don’t kill it, just stall it, I’ll do the rest. After all, we need dinner, don’t we?" He remarked sarcastically with a chuckle, but she didn’t react although she managed to nod.

After moments that seemed eternal, Rama steeled herself. She crouched, muscles coiled like springs. In one fluid motion, she surged forward, her vampire speed a blur as she closed the distance between herself and the unsuspecting deer.

A pang of guilt twisted within her as she launched herself at the creature, but Draco’s guidance echoed in her mind.

With precision borne of newfound understanding, she swiftly gripped the deer’s neck, a mixture of sorrow and sympathy shimmering in her eyes as she heard the deer make a mournful whine.

Breathless and trembling, Rama turned to Draco, seeking affirmation in his eyes, while the deer thrashed its limb as it wailed, looking for an escape but it was futile in her powerful hold.

He smiled, pride and reassurance mingling in his gaze. "You’ve embraced your nature, Rama. You’re not defined by the act but by the understanding behind it."

As soon as he spoke, she heard the snapping of bones and the feel of warm blood dripping on her fingers. She froze for a second before looking down at the deer in her hand. It was immobile in her grasp with its neck broken and its bone impaling out of its flesh, eyes open and devoid of life.

She realized he had used his powers when she looked at him, his eyes burning a bright gold. would have swooned in awe at his phenomenal eyes but she was enraged.

She let go of it with a shuddering grasp as it fell limply on the floor. Looking at the blood in her hands, she felt sick to the stomach. A headshot would have been a less painful and quick death, at least she believed in serving the innocent animals a quick, painless death.

Not realizing when Draco had walked up to her, he wiped her hands clean with a kerchief, but she angrily yanked her hand away as she glared hotly at him, eyes searing with a red hue tinging her jade ones.

"Is the lesson over?" She asked with a hard tone, her face etched with raw, blazing anger.

"Yes, you did great." He praised with a smile but not even a tiny curve appeared on her lips.

"Don’t ever make me do that again. Ever." She emphasized firmly, before walking away from him as she returned back to the cottage.

Leaning against the beautiful peach tree standing at the edge of the hill, she stared out into space. She knew he was only trying to help her, but his methods were too merciless and inconsiderate.

It didn’t matter if it was an animal or a human, he would do the same to any being without batting an eyelid. As she leaned against the trunk of the tree, she could hear him behind her and she knew he had taken their hunt with him, she could smell the fresh blood.

A few seconds later, she could feel his looming dark aura hover behind her and then his hands resting on her shoulder as he squeezed them lightly.

"I’m sorry, even though I don’t know what I’m apologizing for other than teaching you how to use your vampire abilities, I apologize and I won’t make you do it again." He promised, his voice softer than the wind.

She bit her lips hard, it was a hassle to stay angry at him for more than ten seconds, especially when he apologized so earnestly, it made her feel like the guilty one now because she knew he was doing it for her.

"It’s fine." She whispered without turning to face him, while still pretending to be mad. She wouldn’t want to make it seem so easy.

"I’ll prepare the animal then, you can continue...watching the chasm." He said with a sarcastic chuckle and she scoffed.

Still refusing to veer around and look, she could hear him as he prepared the animal, she could hear the knife slicing through flesh and bones splintering noisily in the background.

Unable to resist the temptation to look, she turned around only to see him carrying logs of wood outside, his hair rolled up into a messy bun.

Rolling his sleeves up to reveal those veiny, muscular arms, he swung an axe effortlessly in his hold as he positioned the wood.

She gulped, looking at him in his slightly disheveled state, she couldn’t help but salivate as he looked like a scrumptious meal. Locks of hair flew across his face, loose from his messy bun as he moved vigorously.

Extending the axe up, he brought it down onto the wood with brute force that made the wood split into two the moment the axe collided with it. freewёbn૦νeɭ.com

Every movement he made, she could see his muscles rip and stretch beneath the transparent flimsy shirt he wore, his hard taut chest peeking out of his shirt was a sight that made her drool.

It didn’t matter what he was doing or wearing, not even how disheveled he looked could stop the heat emanating from him. He was flawless and that was indeed a notion she could never argue with.
