The Devil's Warrior Queen-Chapter 33: The Devil’s Secrets
Chapter 33: The Devil’s Secrets
Rama was left dumbfounded with an astounded look on her face and she came up with a fixed conclusion. He was probably dropped too much as a kid, making him nothing less than a killing psychopath.
"Why would you murder your parents?" Rama blurted out in utter shock and disbelief. Only a monster like him could murder the people who birthed him in cold blood, but the question why? chimed in her head.
She wondered what made him do it, what triggered his demon to emerge from its hidden shell and engulf him whole.
She wondered if something had happened to him in his childhood, that made him sufficed with so much darkness and resentment.
"I don’t need to give you explanations on why I do what I do, besides shouldn’t I be asking questions rather, instead of a lowly maid?" He said in a low voice as he squinted his red eyes at her.
She pressed her lips tightly in a thin line of wariness. The thought of him killing his parents with no remorse made her skin crawl in disgust and dread.
"I’m not used to being a maid, it’s my first time and besides, I was shocked by the fact you murdered your parents and don’t feel remorse for it. Your parents must have been awful." Rama said in a feigned pitiful tone, but he scoffed at the facade she put up with, trying to be less defiant to protect her maid.
"You’re no longer a queen, so you better learn how to adjust." Draco said in a mock filled tone with a lopsided smirk reaching his lips.
"I’m sure since I was once in the same position as you, you could tell me the reason you murdered your parents. You see, forgive me for my curiosity but I’m quite the inquisitive one. Did they not love you? Did they treat you with so much disdain? Is that why you evolved to become a terror like the devil himself?" Rama said in one breath and she let out a deep sigh after speaking.
His expression was blank when she spoke but immediately she made the last statement, his hand flew to her neck, grasping it tightly with his fingers digging into her skin as he yanked her face forward, to make her look into his eyes burning with an unquenched rage.
"I warned you to tame your sharp tongue, didn’t I? If you can’t, I’ll rip it out for you. At least I won’t have to listen to the idiocy you spew." Draco said with a low dangerous growl reverberating beneath his breath, as his crimson eyes peered into hers deeply and she could see the untamed fury burning into his eyes.
A small whimper left her lips as his fingers dug into her skin, deep enough to draw blood and his grasp tightened with every second, restricting air into her lungs. A teardrop escaped from her jade eyes to fall on her cheeks subconsciously as she struggled for air with flailing limbs.
He finally let go, giving her a hard shove to make her collide on the floor and she wheezed painfully, as she rubbed her neck while taking in heavy huffs of breath to stabilize her breathing.
She sniffed as she wiped the tear that had dropped, but she didn’t utter another word in caution. It’s either he was a natural feral and violent being, or something related to what she had said ticked him off. Rama thought inwardly.
She tilted her head up after gaining her composure from where she sat on the floor, too weak and lazy to stand up, so she stayed there for a minute.
Draco brought his fingers with her blood on it to his mouth before sucking on it and savoring the taste, like honey with a pleasing look washing the anger on his face. Her face twisted in disgust at the sight, before sprouting from the floor and straightening the rumpled gown she wore, not that it straightened.
"Did I say something to offend you, my lord?" She asked in curiosity, not that she actually cared. He had destroyed everything she lived for and portrayed, so he could scorch in hell for all she cared, but she was curious about what made him flare up in rage.
Something related to her remark ticked him off and made him relive nostalgic memories or so she presumed as various thoughts drifted past her mind.
"Learn to speak only when you’re told to, if not then shut it or I’ll shut it for you." Draco hissed as he took a kerchief from his pocket and wiped the remnants of blood on his fingers before throwing it on the floor.
It appeared he was still angry, there was no sinister glint of amusement in his eyes or the usual lopsided devilish smirk he gave her, rather, his face was twisted with anger and revulsion and she realized just how much her words made an impact on him.
She wanted to speak, but instead she pressed her lips shut and nodded meekly. At this rate, he could possibly rip out her tongue, but she was scared for Malika whose arms were going to be lacerated because of her.
"Clean up the room and don’t go anywhere, not until I come back." Draco ordered sternly and she nodded in affirmation with lowered head like a good maid.
He glared down at her before proceeding toward the double doors with elegant steps. He portrayed more elegance than anyone she had ever encountered, although everything he did embodied belligerence and darkness, an air of elegance and majesty basked him.
She stood pinned to the floor as she watched his retreating figure with long silky black hair swaying behind him, till he went through the double doors and faded from her sight. She sighed in exasperation.
She wondered why he had told her to stay put, when there was nothing obviously important to do. She cleaned the room as he had ordered, although there was nothing worth cleaning except for the rumpled sheets implying where she had slept and it made her wonder for a second where he had slept or why he even let her sleep in his bed and not the maid’s quarters.
She shoved it at the back of her mind thinking he probably didn’t want anyone to see him carrying a maid to her quartets, but still he could have let her sleep on the cold marble floor, but he didn’t.
He was still a monster to her either way and a little stupid gesture wouldn’t do much to change her perspective on him. She thought of every monstrous thing he made her go through, the torment of losing her Empire and murdering Roshan in front of her made her sufficed with rage.
Whatever had happened to him in the past, it wasn’t a justification or a logical reason to defend his evidently wrong actions. She despised him with her whole being and nothing would ever change the way she felt.
She sighed deeply as she scrutinized the room. She could still feel his dark essence which lingered in the room as if it was a part of it, earning a grim look on her face as she had to bear with his lingering presence which felt as if he was there.
She moved to the window and stared out of it in boredom, a few night creatures strolled out in the sun and she wondered why they were in the palace.
She was bored, causing her to think about nostalgic memories that made tears pool at the brim of her eyes but she managed to blink them back, she wouldn’t want Draco to walk in on her crying, he had a knack for mocking her in the slightest chance he got.
A bright idea popped up in her head. She was in the devil’s chamber so she would explore it in hopes to find something interesting, after all the devil always had the darkest secrets, which made her anticipate in curiosity of what she would find.
She scurried toward the door, looking for a lock but there was none and she scoffed in disappointment.
It wasn’t surprising, typical people would put locks, but of course not the devil, instead he’ll leave his doors open for prey to take the bait and lure them into his lair. She eyed the door every second in alert as she rummaged through the drawers.
Each time she opened a drawer, it would be empty or filled with small vials filled with varying colors of liquids she was unfamiliar with. She brought one vial filled with a blue liquid up as she examined it skeptically, wondering what they were.
They couldn’t possibly be medicines as he was immortal, so what could they be? She found herself pondering but it didn’t satisfy her curiosity, so she placed it back in the drawer and continued exploring.
There was a single door situated inside the chamber and she moved with hasty footsteps towards it.
Thinking it was unlocked, she pushed it, but it didn’t budge and her eyes narrowed to the keyhole which made her frown in disappointment, but then it suddenly lit up again, knowing the devil’s secrets were lurking beneath the door.
