The Dragon Lord's Aide Wants to Quit [BL]-Chapter 315: Hopeless Restraint
Intoxicating.
If Riley had to describe what it felt like to be showered in what he assumed to be pheromones, he felt that the most applicable word would be that: intoxicating.
He didn’t get it at first. With his nerves discharging left and right and with how he was melting against Kael too much, he couldn’t immediately verify the difference between pheromones and his natural tendency to lust after his golden dragon.
Yes. He was probably depraved like that.
But when it actually hit him, he realized Kael wasn’t kidding when he said it would be difficult to ignore.
Oh, so difficult to ignore when it sounded so desperate yet tasted so sinful.
Riley could have turned Kael into a lollipop with how he yearned to lick everything off his skin.
Who even does that?
Well, apparently, Riley.
Yep. The weak-willed celibate would definitely do such a thing and had, in fact, started to do it when he first took a depressing break from servicing his mate’s lips.
It felt like dying a little, but at the same time, Riley only had one mouth and just two hands.
If he hadn’t left that post, the same one he actually could have happily died on. Then what about Kael’s neck? What about that curve, that spot he thoroughly enjoyed right behind his mate’s ear?
Who would give enough attention to those beautiful clavicles?
Then, worse, who would take those peaks in his mouth so that they could get the attention they deserved?
It was all Riley’s job. And that pheromone layered generously and addictively on Kael’s skin did nothing but convince the lustful twig that housekeeping should, in fact, be started as soon as possible.
Riley panted hard against Kael’s lips.
It probably didn’t seem like it, but he was actually trying to detach from him to inspect other critical places.
Then again, it would be difficult to believe such a claim when he hadn’t been able to go far enough.
In fact, their faces weren’t even an inch away, with Riley holding on to his mate’s neck like he was ready to drink him in.
To be fair, he was.
So so much for giving attention to Kael’s everything else.
"Haaah..."
"Haah..."
The golden dragon’s hand came up, firm and deliberate, one cradling the back of Riley’s head and the other latched onto his waist. The dragon lord’s grip was steady, and it definitely left no room for doubt that he wanted him to stay right there.
But just when one would assume that all that attention was enough, Kael nipped.
Just barely. Teeth catching Riley’s lower lip in a way that was more promise than pain, before Kael’s tongue swept over it, slow and knowing, as if tasting his reaction. 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎
Riley felt it straight down his spine.
It was unfair how Kael used that tactic he’d accidentally discovered. It was unfair how he would use it to get Riley to abandon any sense of reason he never once had in the first place.
The poor ex-mortal’s breath stuttered, a sharp sound breaking from his chest as his lips parted on instinct, on surrender, on a heady, humiliating need he didn’t bother hiding.
Kael did it again.
A second nip. A languid lick.
So underhanded. Deliberate. And fucking delectable.
Riley whimpered this time, a soft, broken sound swallowed between them as his fingers crawled up, curling even higher at the back of Kael’s neck. His hands fisted gently into that warm, luscious hair, holding himself up as he leaned in, desperate and impatient, locking their mouths together before Kael could steal away again.
Their kiss turned messy. Pressed. Breaths mingling as heat coiled tighter between them, both of them giving in while still clinging to that fragile edge of restraint.
They knew better.
They had to.
Riley sighed against Kael’s mouth, the sound drawn out and helpless as Kael caught him again, reeling his lips back in like a hook. He could feel it then, the smug curve of his dragon’s mouth even as they kissed.
The demon.
He was really preventing Riley from exploring, herding him back every single time, denying him the chance to wander lower or linger longer.
It was frustra—
Hmph!
Perfect.
It was perfect.
His dragon was perfect.
Fuck.
The same dragon, however, asked in between kisses about what Riley wanted to do by telling him what they both already knew.
"Riley. You know we can’t."
Said person, with the name Riley, actually responded, "I know you know that we can’t..." He breathed as his hips ground against the dragon’s solid body, the friction enough to make Kael tense hard despite himself.
It was a contradiction of epic proportions, but it was impossible not to react to his twig’s machinations.
"Riley..."
He sounded pained, desperate, and undeniably unconvincing. With such a mouth, Riley couldn’t help but share his opinion.
"I think we’re both more than aware."
"But, Honey. If you really wanted to put a stop to this, then maybe you should stop saying my name like you’re offering up a desperate prayer."
Kael stopped to blink up at his twig, who was seated on his lap, body flushed against his, but still didn’t feel close enough.
"I’m no—" The golden dragon caught himself, the denial dying before it could take shape. "I can’t help it."
Riley finally chuckled after staring at Kael’s suddenly sulking face.
For someone so devilishly hot, he really could be unbearably cute like this.
The twig, who clearly had no intention of holding back anymore, leaned down to rest his head against Kael’s shoulder, pressing a soft kiss to his jaw before looking up at him.
"I think we’re hopeless," Riley said at last, acceptance settling easily into his tone.
"What if we just let it happen and figure it out later?"
It was said lightly. Almost teasingly.
Kael, however, stiffened.
He knew better.
There wouldn’t be anything to figure out later when he was painfully aware of how monstrously strong he was.
He liked that he finally had the strength to protect his mate. But he also hated that the same strength would pour into Riley the moment they crossed that final line.
That was mating for dragons. It was not built for pleasure. It was a sharing of power, of essence, of something meant to bind and overwhelm.
It was why so many had been reckless enough to seek him out. Because they would gain far more than they would ever be able to give.
But right now, Riley could barely handle the mana from the sustenance left by his clan. If he was having a hard time tolerating it while only partially opened, then what of Kael’s mana that was most definitely greater than what was stored on there?
The golden dragon would never risk his mate like that.
Not even now. Not even when he was desperate enough that he had to clench his jaw just to keep from using magic to restrain himself.
Because if it were just up to him, then there were so many things he wanted to do.
If his twig felt the need to mount him just to feel satisfied, Kael—may no one ever hear these thoughts—wanted everything.
He wanted Riley sprawled out beneath him, pliant and open.
He wanted to take him from tip to base so he could pump him with everything he had.
But at the same time, he wanted Riley to look at him the same way he always did. That accusing look. That helpless yet extremely honest one. The one he wore whenever Kael made him come apart with nothing but his hands and mouth.
Kael wanted to inspect every part of his mate just as much as he wanted to claim every inch of him.
And one day, it would happen.
Just not today.
The golden dragon bit his own lip, frustration sharp and immediate, too consumed by everything he wanted and couldn’t have noticed what his actual mate had decided.
Kael only came back to himself when Riley leaned in and licked the small line of blood from his lip.
"You know," Riley said quietly as he straightened, his tone suddenly thoughtful, "we’re hopeless anyway. But even so, I don’t really want us both to die after days of this self-inflicted torture."
The ex-mortal said it like he had just solved a complicated equation.
"?" The dragon lord raised a brow, but before he could ask what Riley meant, his twig shifted back, slipping off his lap. In one smooth motion, Riley tugged his silk pajama pants down and kicked them aside.
Kael’s breath caught.
Riley’s body was laid bare before him. Familiar. Beloved. Somehow always better than memory, no matter how often Kael saw it. And he definitely saw it often. Even more often than he cared to look at his own.
But this time, Riley did something he hadn’t before.
"Tonight," his mate said casually as he sat back on the bed, posture relaxed, open. "If you’re up to it. I think we should learn about this."
His legs parted slightly, inviting Kael’s gaze.
And this time, instead of his hand stopping where Kael expected, Riley’s fingers drifted lower, unhurried and deliberate.
"Here," Riley added, meeting Kael’s eyes without a hint of embarrassment. "I think we should learn about this tonight."
Kael went very still.
Hopefully, no one noticed the pillar that combusted outside.
