Chapter 93: End of the first trial

"What?" Sia looked at me. "Now that I’m healed, nothing she does will matter anymore, right?" She turned to look at the woman who was probably just as surprised as I was.

The woman looked shocked, before composing herself.

"Don’t worry, I’m not that stupid." She said. "And since you spared my life, acting against you would be nothing other than dishonourable." She added.

"See, I told you." Sia turned to me, her expression almost smug, before she turned back to the woman. "Those guys aren’t friends of yours right?" she asked.

The woman paused for a bit before replying. "No, they aren’t. We merely formed a team out of convenience."

"Amon, would you mind waiting here for a bit?" Sia looked at me. "I have to take care of something real quick." She didn’t give me a chance to answer, before she disappeared in a streak in the direction of the ongoing fight, leaving me standing in an awkward silence with the woman.

I did a double take at the woman. She was still giving up a rather pressuring aura. It didn’t matter what she said, I’d gladly go to hell and back, before I believe the words coming out from an enemy’s mouth.

At least the woman also had some tact. Even though she noticed I had my guard up, she didn’t comment on it, instead, she simply turned away from me.

------------

Dpress stood across a red eyed woman, who had various degrees of injuries all over her body, and was heaving in exhaustion. Dpress himself though, was also heaving in short breaths, and had as much injuries as the woman had, if not more.

Dpress had long known he wasn’t part of the top tier strongest in a rank, but he at least believed himself to be just a tier below. With his ability, if he caught one off guard, he

could easily kill those who were a rank or two higher than he was, in less than a second.

But that woman from earlier was a moment away from him before he could blink. Though, that was a good think, because had he blinked, his head would have flown off his shoulders.

His eyes met hers, and she froze, for the slightest fraction of a second, before breaking free. That gave Dpress the minimal time needed to weave around her sword, but she still struck him with a roundhouse kick. If he hadn’t brought his hands to block it at the last moment, he was sure his head would have been blasted off.

But just as he managed to drag his aching body up from where he had crashed, he noticed two people flashing around. One of them was the woman who just knocked him flying, and the other was Sia, one of his team mates. Dpress could see them, but he was barely catch glimpses of their figures.

’So she’s way stronger than she projected.’ he thought as he watched Sia going toe to toe with the woman. ’If she was hiding her strength...’ Dpress turned to glance at Amon, her supposed brother who was similarly watching the two clash in awe. ’...then it’s safe to say he’s also doing the same.’ Dpress though grimly.

’It seems our plans of hoarding everything at the end would have to take a rain check.’

He shook those thoughts away as he saw his friends, and the young man heading towards the enemy. He also followed after, and since everyone took their opponents before him, he was left with the last, a red eyed woman who was oozing a Theta ranked aura.

As they began fighting, Dpress managed to inflict severe damage on the woman due to her not knowing of his ability to lock one’s movement. In fact most, if not all of the injuries the red eyed woman had was inflicted during that period.

But the moment she managed to figure out that his ability required eye contact, the scales of the fight got completely tipped. She inflicted the damages he had done to her in half the time he did.

Even currently, as they both he and the red eyed woman stared at each other, one of his arm hung limply by his side.

’If it keeps going like this, I’ll be dead before I know it.’ Dpress’ face contorted in a grim visage. But before the echoes of his thoughts could even flow away, something flashed past him.

Before his mind could register what it was, the red eyed woman he had been fighting, was suddenly splitted in half from the waist down, and before he could blink, the flash had moved towards Greg.

’What the hell?...’

------------

Greg’s fighting style had always been wild, with his ability that enhanced both his strength, speed, and stamina, he was like a walking wrecking ball.

Unlike Dpress who was having quite the hard time, Greg was fighting someone of similar rank, and dare he say he was winning. Sure he had a few minor injuries here and there, but he was the one dominating the fight.

He swung his war axe in wide arcs with reckless abandon, even though his weapon was threatening to slip from his hand at any moment. His opponent meanwhile, was quite the slippery individual. He could literally releasing some sort of slimy sludge from his palms, that made the ground slippery, and made Greg’s hold over his war axe to be loose. 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦

Just as the slippery guy slipped beneath one of Greg’s wild swings, a small flash of light clouded his vision for the briefest of moments, then he felt his body no more, or perhaps was it his head that he felt no more? Only he could really tell, in the afterlife that was.

-----------

Nina’s opponent, while tough, had an ability that significantly enhanced his physique, much like Greg’s. However, he couldn’t have fought a worst opponent. Nina’s ability literally absorbed and stored the kinetic energy of every strike, thereby rendering it harmless.

But then, she could also release it in an explosive force, mostly around her fist, since her chosen weapon was gauntlets. She took little to no damage whatsoever, but her opponent kept taking damage. That wouldn’t have been an issue, amusing her opponent had the raw output to out scale what she could absorb.

Each hit she landed rattled his innards, maybe even broke a few bones. His ear drums had long since shattered. The only reason he still had his head was because of his enhanced physique which seemed to toughen him up.

He had just managed to dodge another one of her punches, but the force released from it blew him to the side. Before he could regain his footing, a dark haired woman with dried blood still on her body, appeared before him.

"Stillwater severance." Her calm voice was the last thing he heard, before darkness took him.

Thud! His body fell before his head.

"And that will be all." Sia muttered with a faint smile as she turned to look at Nina, whose face didn’t betray any expression.

"Why did you intervene?" The blond asked softly.

"Because I wanted to." The dark haired woman chuckled. "And also because you guys were taking too long."

It was then that Nina turned and noticed both Greg and Dpress in the distance were looking at Sia, with their eyes widened. Nina also noticed that their opponents also lay dead at their feet.

Nina sighed, but didn’t say anything. She had already noticed that this dark haired woman was stronger than they thought, after witnessing the beginnings of her fight with that woman.

"So shall we go?" Sia tilted her head.

**Damon’s pov**

Three more days passed in the blink of an eye. After Sia’s pure display of power, the dynamic of the team completely changed. Dpress left most decisions to Sia, and she was more than happy to throw her weight.

We also came to know the required time before the rest of a team is transported outside after more than three members had been eliminated. It was all due to Amara– whose name I had come to know from Sia. She disappeared exactly a minute after Sia killed the man Greg was fighting, not a second before, and not a second after.

During these three days, no other team had come to us, and we also hadn’t made any effort to go fight another team. I doubt there’d be a team that’ll do more than us, and eliminate more than two teams.

Also, the numbers of teams had dwindled down a lot in the past three days. If I was not wrong, today was going to be the last day of the first trial.

When it was time for the map to appear, it wasn’t the only one that did, the voice of the remnant will from earlier also sounded.

"Congratulations to the ten teams who have made it pass the first trial. The second trial would begin in two hours, at which you would all be transported to the designated location."

"Ah, it’s finally over." Sia, who was sitting across me stretched. Neither the rest nor I said anything, but I was also glad it was over, and I was sure the rest thought so as well.
