Chapter 115: [115] Progress

Clack!

A wooden sword crashed into another, splinters flying, the air trembling from the blow.

Eliron shifted his stance to the left, his feet gliding over the grass as he deflected the wooden sword to the side with ease.

With her guard wide open, Eliron raised his sword and brought it down in one smooth arc.

Her breath hitched and her eyes widened, as the sword was reflected in her hazel orbs.

But the blonde attacker reacted quickly, jumping back and doing a flip to evade his strike.

Vwooosh!

The sword created an arc of air, a whooshing sound exploding outwards from the mere swing alone.

The moment her feet touched the floor, she dashed towards him like a rocket.

At the same time a shadow washed over Eliron, a sword cleaving through the air like a bullet.

Clack!

Eliron took a step back to keep them both in his line of sight, then he swung in a horizontal arc.

Bang!

Now two fighters were in front of him, their swords locked with his.

"Not bad..." Eliron scoffed as he stared at Terra and Durin.

He kept his stance firm, one hand tucked behind his back while the other was holding the wooden sword in front of him.

But he couldn’t remain there for long, in the distance, a group of mages had summoned a combined spell.

A large fire ball burst out of their palms, searing the air as they completed their chant, and then they released it.

’To think the mages have advanced this far in just a month...’

Durin and Terra immediately fled the scene, not forgetting to put their guards up as they did.

Eliron smirked. For one month, he had dragged them through hell and back, all for the sake of seeing them blossom.

And now, on his final day in Artaris, he decided to test their capabilities.

The fireball descended from the sky like an incarnate of destruction. Normally, they would have not been able to pull this off, but Eliron had advised them on how to do it.

Assisted spellcraft...

While one mage stood as the main caster, the two fueled the spell with mana.

They were even fighting just the way he had taught them. While the swordsmen drew the attention of their foe, the mages would support them from the rear.

Eliron wiped an invisible tear.

’They grow up so fast...’

He turned his sword from the sharp edge to the flat, the blade glowing as mana shrouded it.

’Still, nothing like a proper beat down so that it won’t get to their heads."

Bang!

As the fire ball came, Eliron slammed the flat of his sword right into it, flinging it back like a baseball.

The mages gawked at the sight, but before it could consume them, dark slashes cut right into it, the ball exploding on impact.

Estelle sighed as she redirected her staff at Eliron.

"Go!" She screamed at the swordsmen in front.

Around her black balls began to form, this time from a glance Eliron could tell they were far more potent than they should have been.

During their time training, he had watched Estelle become the de facto leader of the group.

It was expected, since before Artie’s huge buff from consuming a spirit shard, they were not far apart in strength.

Swish!

The balls cut through the air with demonic haste, cutting past the first wave of swordsmen charging at Eliron.

Eliron cleaved the first one in multiple pieces, the dark ball bursting as he walked past it.

He tilted his head just by a centimeter as the others rushed into the forest, then he took a deep breath and unleashed an ungodly amount of strikes, severing the rest.

Then came the swordsmen.

Without breaking a sweat, Eliron mowed down the assailants while offering words of wisdom.

The first jumped into the air, swinging down with all his might. A useless manoeuvre, being in the air only meant his structure was weak.

Plus he could not even defend himself for about three seconds. Of course, Eliron made sure he learned through pain.

He appeared at his back, the elf’s eyes widening.

"This is swordmanship, not a wwe match."

He slammed his sword into the back of the Elf’s head, a shock running down his spine as he collapsed.

"Your stance is weak!"

Bang!

"Hey! Focus on your foot work!"

Clack!

"What are you? A monkey?"

Swish!

Just like that all the swordsmen were down, leaving only Durin and Terra to protect the mages.

Eliron walked over the unconscious bodies, looking as fresh as a new born’s butt. No scuffs, no scratches, no sweat.

Estelle frowned.

"We’ll hit him with everything we’ve got." She said without haste.

A few seconds later...

Terra and Durin were sitting on the grass, their heads swollen as they massaged it.

The mages would have been in the same state, but Estelle conceded just before he could ’teach’ them.

She sighed as she stared at the groaning elves. "Are we ever going to get ahead like this?"

Eliron raised a brow. "What do you mean?"

Estelle undid the clip holding her hair back, the dark stands flowing past her shoulders like a waterfall.

Then she sighed, her magenta eyes narrowing. "It’s been one month... one month and we still can’t scratch you." 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮

"If we are progressing this slowly, will we ever be able to defend Artaris?"

She raised her magic staff and stared at the glowing gem, before turning to face Eliron.

"It is not like the high elves or humans are sleeping while we train..."

Eliron nodded. He could understand where she was coming from, since they often sparred with him, it was hard to see how much they had grown.

It was like swinging against a mountain, if you keep at it for two years you will definitely get stronger, but to you, you were just the same as the day you started.

But that doesn’t mean that it was your reality.

"Make no mistake, it will take at least a year for you guys to make me sweat..."

It was not that they were not advancing, they were actually moving at an amazing pace.

But Eliron was still training far more than them, widening the gap between them even further.

Estelle glared at him. "No need to be cocky..."

Eliorn chuckled. "Come with me, let me show you something."

Before she could reply, Eliron grabbed her hand and pulled her along with him.

"Slow down, you’re going to make me trip..." she murmured as he led her away.

"As for the rest of you, you are dismissed!"

The group of two walked for quite some time, moving deeper and deeper into the forest.

Then when there was no elf in sight, Eliron suddenly hoisted Estelle up to her feet, and held her in a princess carry, one hand underneath her back, while the other was under her legs.

Estelle frowned and let out a sigh. "Really?"

"Wow, not even a light blush?" Eliron teased.

He drew one of his feet back, his muscles tensing.

"Wait, what are you—"

"Don’t talk or you’ll bite your tongue..."

"Huh?"

"Ack—!" She swallowed a scream as Eliron suddenly dashed forward, the forest blurring past them....
