Chapter 119: [119] Departure

A bright blue screen appeared right in front of Eliron, he sat up straight, a wide smile on his face as he read through it.

[You have significantly raised the strength of your army.]

[Army Strength: 6% ~> 20%]

"Wow, that was a huge leap..."

It seemed that it had been stacking up over time, and only came as an achievement after hitting 20%.

Eliron stared out of his window at Artaris. ’What are the chances someone is training in the village right now?’

The bar did not just magically poof up to twenty percent, one of the wood elves was probably getting some late night practice in at this very moment.

His smile widened, knowing that his elves were being diligent. Eliron then returned his gaze back to the screen.

[For this remarkable achievement, you have been awarded +20 EP]

’Just what I wanted to see...’

It had been a month since he unlocked the ability to use EP, but he was so focused on training that he didn’t bother doing things to purposefully gain EP.

Thankfully, he had still gotten it at the end of the day.

Eliron happily closed the tab and went back to bed, this time more comfortably than he was before.

Now that he had EP, another challenge was set before him— which elf to evolve.

But right now, he had other things on his mind.

Tomorrow was the day their trip would begin, and so he decided to focus on having a good night’s rest.

Tomorrow or rather, the week in general was going to be a very long one...

<•>

Eliron’s thought about one of his elves diligently training was not exactly wrong.

The only thing that he got wrong was the location, you see, the person training was actually under the same roof as him.

A blinding light that had been emerging out of Yennefer’s room was slowly fizzling away, leaving a calm, graceful ambience in the space.

Yennefer was floating above the floor, her legs crossed and her eyes closed.

Sweat flowed past her face like a river, and her breathing was erratic, like the sound of someone who had just run a marathon.

Yet, a wry smile appeared on her face as her feet touched the floor.

"To... think I’ll... complete it just in time..." she said breathlessly, just as she collapsed on her bed.

<•••>

"Yen, get down or we’re going to be late!" Eliron screamed from the living room.

"Shut up, I’m coming!"

Eliron sighed.

Apparently, the angel had overslept. And now they were already five minutes behind their schedule.

"So you are really leaving..." Sabrina muttered, her voice low.

"Yup, I told you beforehand didn’t I?"

Sabrina opened her mouth then closed it, giving him a curt nod instead.

Eliron stared at her for a few seconds. He noticed the way she avoided his gaze, and held onto her clothing a little too firmly.

She was obviously not happy that they were leaving...

But she didn’t know how to express herself, or maybe she felt it would be selfish of her to ask them to stay.

Even after living for a month as a free person without a collar wrapped around her neck, Sabrina hadn’t exactly gotten over it.

It was not that she did not like the feeling of being free, on the contrary, she loved it.

It was just that after being told what to do for several decades, she often had difficulties making decisions for herself.

She often stuck to either Eliron or Yennefer like glue, she would ask him what she should eat, what dresses to wear, what time to return home...

Although she was slowly adapting, she still needed a little more time to adjust. 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮

Eliron would have just taken her with him, but considering their plans, they needed to move in a small group.

But more importantly removing Sabrina from Artaris, the only person capable of using an SSSR skill, would drop the security levels by a lot...

He would much rather not come back to see an empty city.

"You know why you can’t come right?"

"Yeah, yeah... it’s just a little annoying..."

Eliron smiled. "Don’t worry, you won’t be living here alone, I invited someone to stay with you while we are away. Estelle will be here soon."

This seemed to lift her mood a little bit.

"Oh!" Eliron lifted a finger. "And I’ll get you a souvenir on my way back."

Sabrina frowned. "I’m not a child..."

"Ehe..." Eliron scratched his head. "I promise, you’ll love it!"

She smiled and nodded. "Then I’ll look forward to it. I wish you all a safe and fulfilling journey."

Just as she finished speaking, Yennefer staggered downstairs, carrying so many bags that she tilted over—

And fell down the stairs.

"Yen!" Sabrina yelled, wincing as the silver haired woman came crashing down hard.

Both Eliron and Sabrina hurried over to her, then Sabrina lifted her to a sitting position using her arm.

Eliron sighed. "What are you even doing with all these bags?"

"Are you alright?" Sabrina asked.

"I’m fine!" Yen blinke, and shook her head to clear the cobwebs nesting in her brain.

But just as she did, blood began to drip down her nose.

"Eeeh—?!" Sabrina panicked, her hands flailing around aimlessly. "Y-you’re bleeding!"

"Huh?" Yen touched her nose, her eyes widening when she drew back blood.

Eliron sighed once more, then placed a clean cloth against the nose.

"Blow, gently..."

Yennefer did as instructed, sending most of the blood into the cloth.

"Now heal yourself before more comes."

Eliron wiped the rest of the blood, before discarding the cloth and pulling her to her feet.

"Mmm..." she nodded, as small golden particles began to float over her nostrils.

"By the way, what are even in these bags?"

Yennefer averted her gaze. "Just the essentials..."

"Essentials like?"

Yennefer pouted while nervously tapping her index fingers together.

"Yen..."

She sighed, her shoulders slumping. "My toothbrush, a change of clothes, my bkanket..."

’They aren’t actually as bad I thought—"

"All my pillows, steak from last night, an enchanted heating bucket from Zenith, five gallons of wild berry juice, six sets of plates and cutlery, oh, and a loofah!"

Eliron blinked.

"Step aside..."

"Huh?"

He held her hand and pulled her from the heap, then summoned the infinity pouch.

In less than a second, the entire luggage was sucked right into it.

"Huhuhu..." Yennefer chuckled and tapped his back. "That’s how we roll, I’m happy you didn’t use the cliche, ’we can’t can’t take that with us.’" She said in a goofy main character voice.

Eliron glared at her. "What else do you want to pack? The entire house?"

She folded her hands across her chest. "Believe me, I would do that if we could..."

"This girl..."

After making sure everything was ready, they walked up to their front door, only to see that a certain grumpy wyvern was obstructing it.

"Aww, Tiny, are you going to miss your mummy?" Yen said in the tone often reserved for speaking to babies, while petting its head.

And the shameless wyvern practically melted into her touch.

’That’s a grown ass man... well an adolescent if we were being factual...’

"Alright we need to go Tiny, you’re in the way—" Eliron began to say.

HRYUUUU!

The wyvern roared in argument, placing its wings over Yennefer like she belonged to him.

Eliron frowned. ’Hey, that’s my angel.’

"Sorry, Tiny, but it will be difficult to explain a twelve foot wyvern to customs..."

They would not even get anywhere near the gates before the city declared a state of emergency.

"Come on, we are already late—"

Eliron tried reaching for the wyvern, but it opened its mouth wide, icy breath condensing in its throat.

"So this is how you want to play this game huh?"

He gave Sabrina a look and she nodded, instantly understanding what he meant.

She rushed at the wyvern from the side and it turned towards her, distracted.

In that short time, Eliron grabbed Yennefer from the wyvern, then summoned a portal that consumed the wyvern whole, seconds away from teleporting it.

Eliron smirked as the wyvern’s eyes widened.

"Take care of Artaris while we’re gone alright?"

Hryuuuuuuuuu!!!!

Swish!

In an instant, the wyvern was gone from sight.

"You know he’s going to swallow you whole the next time you meet right?" Yen said.

"I’ll take my chances..."

’Hopefully he doesn’t evolve into a dragon out of spite for me...’

They said their final farewell to Sabrina before leaving the house.

Unlike the last time they left Artaris, they met up with Artie and Ash in a different part of town.

It was the eastern part of the village, where a lonely, dirt road overgrown with grass and shrubs lay.

The majestic cart Eliron had built was already there, alongside a single horse that would pull it.

Unlike before when the cart had an open top, this time, Eliron had added an adjustable attachment over it.

It was a sun shield that he could raise to block them from the harsh sun if need be, and bring down if they wanted to gaze at the beautiful blue sky.

So their cart was now more like a carriage...

"You’re late, I have things to do, you know?" Zenith huffed when she saw them arrive.

"Apologies, there was quite a little ’trouble’ back at home." Eliron said calmly.

"Don’t mind this grumpy woman." Lazarus chuckled. "That’s her way of saying she will miss you."

"Besides, better spend all the time in the world than forget something important, eh?"

Zenith glared at him, but Lazarus pretended to not notice.

Unlike before when they had an elaborate send off party, Eliron had instructed that only the two of them see them off.

The cadets were training, and everyone was busy with their affairs, there was no need to pull a crowd just for their sakes.

"It’s best we head out while it’s still early, Kingsbridge is quite a long way ahead." Came a voice from the carriage.

Eliron looked in the direction and saw Artie sitting in the driver’s seat.

She had obviously reserved the seat next to her for him, because Ash was at the back.

"She’s right my lord." Ash spoke. "We need to make as much use of the day as we can, the horses slow down at noon."

Eliron nodded. "Alright then, shall we—"

RAWWR!!!

A loud, booming shriek cut through the entirety of Artaris.

Eliron quickly got on the carriage, and grabbed the reins.

"Best we get moving!"

The horse spun into action, pulling the carriage across the dirt road with haste.

Lazarus smiled as he watched them go, his eyes lingering on his daughter.

"May your journey be fruitful and filled with blessings..."

"Till we meet again."
