The Elven Evolution: Starting With 1 Million SSSR Skills-Chapter 140: [] Sharing Information
Ash stared at the passed out woman lying on the floor, his eyebrows furrowed.
He had heard Eliron call a name, which made him curious. "My lord, do you know this woman?"
It was already a shock that the merchant was a woman. From the way she had carried herself, even down to her most subtle actions, Ash had believed her to be a man throughout.
They had been fooled yet again.
Eliron sighed and stood up, his eyes still on Cassandra.
’To think I would find her here...’ he thought, as he turned to Ash.
"This is Cassandra, Cassandra Kingsbridge."
Ash blinked in shock. "Kingsbridge?? Does that mea..."
"Yes, the demonic merchant is none other than the Baron’s daughter."
The baron’s daughter in the novel was described to a cunning woman, a bag of secrets and deceptive to the very core.
She was a person hated by the MC, who chased righteousness, so their interactions were few. But the description was more than enough to single her out.
A small smile appeared on Eliron’s face.
’This might actually work to our favour...’
Now that he knew the demonic merchant’s identity, not only did he now have another bargaining chip against her...
It would be impossible for her to escape him. After all, all he had to do was pay the Kingsbridge estate a visit.
Meeting her could potentially help them resolve their other problems about meeting the baron as well.
But first...
Eliron sighed as he stared at her bleeding body. ’I need to make sure she doesn’t die...’
’Damn it, Yen is going to kill me one of these days.’
It was like the situation where doctors who would constantly receive patients from the police, treat them, only for the police to shoot another person again and repeat the process...
Eliron picked up the woman, who was considerably light, then turned to Ash. "Let’s go..."
A portal rippled into space, and Eliron stepped one foot in. But before he left, he glanced at the room...
’Phantom Flame.’
Black fire suddenly ignited within it, swallowing everything in sight. The black fire would keep burning until every single thing was consumed.
Ash had snatched the demonic eye from the second they arrived in the room, and Eliron had stuffed it in his pouch, so there was nothing left that was worth taking.
<•••>
Yennefer was sitting on her bed in her inn room, munching on some snacks, while Artie was seated by the window, staring down at the city below.
"How long are you going to wait there?" Yen asked as she glanced at her.
Ever since they heard a loud noise explosion that rattled the city, Artie had become a little... unsettled.
If not for Yennefer holding her back, she might have already gone out in search of Eliron and Ash.
And now, the rain had once again begun to fall. It was not as heavy as the rain in the morning, but it was by no means light.
"I’m just watching in case I see them arrive... I have nothing better to do anyways..." Artie said calmly.
Yen shrugged. "Alright, that oaf’s head is as thick as a rock, it will take an army to bring him down. Don’t worry too much..."
Artie glanced at Yennefer, a small frown on her face. "I’m not worried..."
Yennefer smiled. "Sure."
The red head sighed and looked away. But after a few seconds, she spoke, without removing her gaze from the window.
"By the way... how did you and Eliron get so close?" Her voice was a little lighter than it usually was, nearly reserved even.
Yennefer blinked. "Hmm? We are close?"
"Well, you sure look that way to others. You barely spend any second apart from each other."
Somehow, there was a hint of annoyance in Artie’s voice? Yen was not quite sure what it was.
"Well I guess it looks that way." Yen smirked and raised a finger. "But in reality, I follow him around because he always has snacks! He is a slave driver, that one, but he pays well I guess."
Artie breathed out, then she smirked. "How oblivious..." she sighed.
"Well I guess it’s alright... as long as I’m first..."
"Huh? Sorry, I didn’t quite get what you said." Yen spoke, Artie’s voice was so low that she completely missed what she said.
But she didn’t have a chance to repeat it, because just then, they heard a knock on the door.
Artie immediately turned her attention to the door as Yen jogged up to it.
"It looks like they are back, you can stop worrying now, hehe..."
Yen pulled the door open, only to freeze.
Eliron was basically soaked in blood, there was a cut on his neck and multiple other injuries lining his body.
His face looked pale from the blood loss, and his armour had been burned off...
But the most surprising thing, was the beautiful blonde woman he had in his arms.
Artie’s eyes narrowed as she watched them.
’What happened...’
’...And who is she?’
<•••>
Eliron and Ash quickly entered the room and shut the door behind them. Then he walked up to her bed and placed Cassandra atop it.
"What the heck happened to you?" Yennefer’s worried voice reached him, as she hurriedly led him to the other bed.
Her eyes were fraught with worry as she watched his wounds, her hands trembling over them.
"Who could have done this?"
Eliron was not surprised by her reaction, this was the first time he was actually close to death after all.
Artie was also standing next to him, but unlike Yen who was worried, Eliron could sense her anger burning within her, yet she kept a calm face.
"You should have called, why would you fight without our assistance?" She asked, biting her lip in rage.
"If we were there, then maybe you wouldn’t have gotten so injured..."
Eliron sighed.
To think the day that Artie would voluntarily offer her assistance would come...
They had come a long way from the version of her in the forest, who only worked towards her goals.
"We were not exactly given a choice on the matter..."
Yen was about to start healing him when Eliron stopped her. "I’ll live, she needs more attention."
Eliron had expected someone like the demonic merchant to be a powerful knight or mage.
But now that he realised that she was barely above the beginner level, he knew just how much her life was at risk.
"Let me at least heal your neck first." Yen placed his hand on his neck, her divine mana seeping into the wound until it was sealed.
When she was done, she moved to the merchant, then froze—
"Who could have done such a thing to an innocent woman like this?!" Yen screamed.
’Innocent??’ Eliron thought.
"Look at how deep these cuts are! Were they trying to cripple her?! Oh, you poor thing, when I get my hands on them, I’ll rip them piece by piece!"
Eliron cleared his throat, looking to the side, but just that subtle motion caused Yen’s eyes to dart to him.
"Eliron..." her mouth hung open.
Eliron blinked. "Mm?"
Yen’s eyes widened. "So it was you?!"
He had not said a single word, and yet she had read him like a book.
Yen sighed, then calmed herself. "I’m guessing this woman isn’t so innocent then. Tell us, what really happened?"
Kyle and Ash ended up spending the next few minutes explaining everything that had happened, from the card duel in the bar and their new found wealth...
Down to his meeting with the demonic merchant, the treachery, and his clash with the high elf General, Kyros and his son.
Artie’s reaction was very much similar to Ash’s, albeit a little more reserved.
She ran a hand through her red hair, and let out a tired breath. "What about their bodies?" She asked, her voice serious.
Kyle understood her intentions easily, because he had thought of it as well.
The reason he had used disintegration on Kyros, and went out of his way to burn the remnants of Cain with black fire was simple...
He could not let the high elves find out what had happened.
If they were to get any of their bodies, they would use their sophisticated magic of prophecy to scry... and seek out his location.
And once they confirmed it was a wood elf... Artaris would burn.
So Eliron had been judicious in making sure there were no traces left.
No one would know who fought them in the forest, no one would know of their deal with the merchant.
And since high elves often didn’t travel in large groups, Eliron was sure there was no other high elf in Kingsbridge.
Even if they were, they were so proud that they would reveal themselves before long while trying to investigate the deaths.
When Eliron explained this to Artie, she seemed a little more relieved.
"You guys had a pretty eventful evening." She sighed. "While we shopped for dresses and spoke with noble ladies, you were fighting for your lives..." Artie pouted.
Eliron shrugged. "Maybe we’re just the unlucky pair." He said with a small laugh.
"So this woman is this demonic merchant?" Yen stared at the noble lady that was now sleeping peacefully on the bed.
Eliron nodded. Not just the demonic merchant, she is also the baron’s daughter, Cassandra."
"The baron’s daughter??" Both Artie and Yen asked simultaneously, while sharing a look.
"Yes... why do you seem a little more surprised than usual?"
Artie smiled. "Let me tell you what we found out on our little adventure. Cassandra here might just be our key to meeting the baron..."
