The Elven Evolution: Starting With 1 Million SSSR Skills-Chapter 142: [] The Demon Can Be Cute Too
Thump!!
Cassandra immediately rolled to the other side of the bed, falling hard on the wooden floor.
"Hmm?" Eliron blinked, staring at the empty bed.
"You know you can’t hide there forever right?" Eliron said, tilting his head slightly as he stared at the bed.
"Oh, and don’t even try to teleport. I have marked you, meaning I can follow you wherever you go..."
Eliron smirked. "You wouldn’t want me to follow you to the baron’s estate right?"
"Shit~" a muffled voice came from the other side.
One second passed...
Two seconds...
Blonde hair suddenly peaked from the side of the bed, rising till Eliron could see her crimson eyes.
"Now that wasn’t so hard was it? Hmm what is wrong?"
Cassandra’s face was as red as a tomato, and she was watching him with wide eyes.
"M-my clothes..." she stuttered. "D-did you—?" Her voice trailed off at the end.
"What? Of course not, I’m not a pervert. You healer was the one who changed them, and she is a girl."
Cassandra let out a breath, sighing in relief.
Eliron motioned to the side of the bed. "Come, take a seat. We have a lot to discuss."
The woman stared at him, or rather at the space above his head. "Y-you won’t... do that again right?" She asked, rubbing her arm nervously.
The memories of last night were still very vivid in her head.
"Oh? Don’t worry, I won’t... ummm.. stab you again." Eliron scratched his head.
’Yen would kill me if I did...’
"Okay... haha..." she nervously laughed.
’Huh?’ Eliron was shocked by how different she was now that she had been exposed.
While hiding behind her mask, Cassandra was like an aloof mafia boss who feared nothing. But now, she was like a nervous high school kid, even though she was a grown woman.
"So are you coming or what?" Eliron asked.
Cassandra’s shoulder’s slumped. "I am..."
She took the first step, the second...
And then she tripped on a stool, falling face first towards the floor.
’My goodness...’
"Eeek—!" She yelped, her eyes widening as the floor came increasingly closer.
But before she could break her nose, Eliron held her by the back of her shirt, suspending her in the air.
"Are you really okay? You’re way too clumsy to be the Demonic Merchant."
The woman sighed. "M-my glasses..."
"Huh?"
"I need my glasses..."
A few minutes later, Cassandra was seated by the edge of the bed, adjusting a pair of round rim glasses Eliron had found in her clothes.
Apparently, the mask which changed the appearance of her eyes, also helped her with her vision.
Without it, she needed her glasses to properly see.
’I guess that is why her vision seemed off at first...’ Eliron mused.
Now staring at her, the demonic merchant looked even less intimidating than earlier, if that was even possible.
Eliron sighed.
But there was no way he would be fooled by her appearance. The woman in front of him was the same person who had ruthlessly sold him off to the high elves.
She was a criminal mogul, a wanted fugitive and a possibly corrupt official...
All wrapped up in a pretty blonde package.
’How ironic.’
"Umm, is there a problem?" Cassandra asked, a nervous expression on her face. "You’ve been staring at me for the past minuite..."
Eliron frowned. "Well—"
"If it is because of what happened, I am once again very sorry for selling you out!" She bowed repeatedly.
"Never mind, it’s not like you really mean it. Besides, we are even now, let’s just get straight to business..."
"Of course..." She adjusted her glasses.
"The monster claws you showed me. I can definitely give you a reasonable offer, as long as there is a good quantity available, I’ll make sure to do my best!"
"And if you want anything, I’ll offer you a discount!" She nervously added.
"Is that so?" An unreadable expression flashed on Eliron’s face, then he smiled, but it felt more like a warning than a friendly gesture.
Eliron cleared his throat, his eyebrows rising sliglty. "What do you think you are doing?"
Cassandra blinked. "I’m sorry, what do you..."
"Do you really think that fake persona would work on me?"
The atmosphere in the room changed, a chill permeated the space, the air growing tenser by the second.
"You must think me a fool."
Cassandra opened her mouth, then closed it as she stared at the floor.
Then she slowly raised her head...
Everything about her hand changed, the soft look in her eyes had been replaced by a cold, a calculative gaze. Her nervous twitch vanished, and even her posture that had been rigid became more relaxed and confident.
"Ehe~" she chuckled.
"I really thought that would work. What gave me away, lord of elves?"
Eliron smirked. At first he had almost believed that this was her true nature, that maybe the fear of death was the reason she was so nervous.
And to an extent, he was right... she was a little different than she normally was.
But there was one thing that gave her away—
"A discount?" Eliron scoffed. "Don’t make me laugh."
Cassandra chuckled. "True, I have never heard of such a repulsive word!"
"Alright." She spoke. "I’ll drop the act. Now that there are no secrets between us, shall we begin?"
Eliron stared at her for sometime, a bit too intently...
Cassandra blinked, sweat falling down her face. "What? Your stare... it’s unnerving..."
Eliron’s eyes narrowed. "Yeahh... it’s just a little strange you know... umm..."
He motioned his hands in the air, as through trying to trace something in the wind.
She sighed. "What is strange?"
"...Do you really need those glasses?"
Silence...
"Yes."
"Kek—" Eliron held back a chuckle.
Cassandra ran a hand down her face. "What is wrong with my glasses?"
"Oh, no, nothing! It’s just a little... like why would you pick that design though? It’s just so odd."
There were far cooler designs she could have gone for, instead she went for the classic Harry P package.
"It’s a medical tool, not a fashion piece! Hey, don’t laugh! Why are you... why are you still laughing?!"
Cassandra’s face went red from embarrassment, while Eliron laughed to his heart’s content.
A few minutes later...
"Uhum..." Eliron cleared his throat, forcing himself to keep a straight face. "Shall we get back to business."
"I swear, if not that you basically kidnapped me, I would call off this entire deal!"
"Don’t be so sensitive, Cassandra"
Cassandra sighed. "Call me Cassie instead."
"Why? Cassandra sounds so much more fun."
Cassandra massaged the bridge of her nose. "When you say it, it sounds like an insult. Just call me Cassie okay?"
"Sure sure..."
Cassie stared at him for a few seconds then sighed deeply.
’And he’s an elven lord? Bring back the killer from last night! I prefer that version of him to the guy in front of me!’
She cleared her throat.
"Let me see your goods, on my honour as a merchant, I will offer a fair price... monster claws are not the most valuable materials, but they are still very much in demand."
Eliorn smirked. "And who said anything about claws?"
Cassie raised a brow. "Are you saying you have something better?"
’He might be strong, but hunting takes a lot more than strength...’ Cassie thought.
You needed a proper strategy, and you had to know the right monster to hunt.
Some monsters were difficult to kill, but their parts were dirt cheap because of how useless they were...
’What else could he possibly have that will beat the quality of those claws?’ Cassie was curious to find out.
Eliron summoned his pouch and plunged his hand into it, ruffling through its contents.
’A spatial storage unit?’ Cassie mused. ’Not bad...’
Then Eliron pulled out the tip of a large bony structure, he dragged it out until about ten inches of the large shape had emerged.
Cassie rubbed her chin. ’Hmm, not a bad size... What monster did it belong to?’
But Eliron kept pulling more and more out, the size multiplying by the second.
’Huh?!’
Eliron stood up, rubbed his hands together and changed his position, dragging it out until it was about the size of the room in length, and yet, there was still more of it left in the sack!
The young lord sighed. "Damn... It looks like the room won’t be big enough to contain it..."
Cassie sprang to her feet, her eyes glistening like rubies, countless figures already running in her head.
"I-is that... what I think it is?!"
