Chapter 124 - The love expert I

It had been a week since Hael had woken up from his coma, and he was recovering quickly.

Since he was a warrior, blessed with a resilient body, and Kaleeso's divine energy, he was in tip-top shape soon after. He could pick up a sword with no problem and run at top speed easily.

With his newfound energy restored, Hael embarked on his new mission, understanding love and relationships.

His first victim was his old and trusted friend—Loki.

The bird was perched on the windowsill of the large window that showcased the beautiful view of the ocean. After spending months moping around, filled with worry and anxiety over the fate of his friend, the bird needed some relaxation. The warmth of the sun penetrated through the windows, leaving the bird feeling at peace after those long turbulent days of waiting.

His moment of peace, however, was interrupted by a certain giant who had no concept of boundaries.

"How is mating done between humans?" He asked him, catching him completely off guard.

"I beg your pardon?!" Loki exclaimed, his eyes wide with shock.

The man was bold enough to repeat the question once more, earning a scornful glare from the bird. "H-How could you ask me such a thing?!"

Hael blinked before tilting his head to the side, staring at his friend with confused eyes. "You are my friend and the wisest person I know. I figured I could come to you. Was I wrong in thinking so?"

It was now Loki's turn to stare at the young man before him, but instead of the puzzled expression sporting Hael's face, Loki had a look of complete and utter disbelief. He was unsure how to respond to those words. freewebnσvel.cøm

"I-I mean you are not wrong," he stuttered, "but such questions are a bit too intimate to ask, even to a friend."

"Really?" Hael asked with raised eyebrows.

The bird nodded.

A flash of disappointment came over him. "I see."

Seeing the dejected look on Hael's face made Loki feel guilty. He could tell the young man was genuinely curious to know and seemed to struggle with the issue. So with a heavy sigh, he left his spot on the windowsill, and flew towards the little nightstand near Hael's bed.

"....What seems to be the issue?" He reluctantly inquired.

A small smile formed on Hael's face and he recounted the events of last night and Loki listened intently, occasionally nodding as he understood the source of Hael's worries.

He wasn't thrilled to hear about the young man's dalliances with the king, but he could see how easily Hael could have become confused. It was also commendable that the king stopped when he did. It showed that he had some level of self control, but more importantly, he cared for Hael.

Stopping when they did was a wise decision, and Loki's impression on Ceremus changed dramatically at that moment.

It was obvious where the problem lied, and that was with Hael. As someone with no experience in love or physical affection, it was no surprise Hael was unaware of what was going on. It was easy to see how someone might feel anxious or inadequate in a situation like this. It was also difficult to progress if one didn't practice either. Loki was a divine bird, but his knowledge of such things was quite limited.

"I think this is something you will have to discuss with a human since I don't have any experience in this field, I'm afraid." He said.

"Should I ask Anthanasia then?" He asked, as he didn't have many other human friends he could think of.

"Most certainly not!" The bird exclaimed.

His outburst momentarily startled Hael. "Why not? She's my friend and she's a fellow human like myself." He said blankly.

Loki shook his head, feeling at a loss. "Of course you can't ask her about such things. She is a woman and the object of your affection is another man. How could she possibly understand what you are going through?! It would be a different matter if the person you were trying to bed was a woman—although I'm beginning to think that would be unwise as well. We shouldn't discuss such things in front of a lady like Anthanasia.

Hael understood the implications of Loki's words and tried to think of anyone else he could go to. "Oh, what about Anemone?"

Loki thought for a moment, then nodded. "Perhaps he could be a better choice..."

Hael nodded his head, thankful for having such a wise person he could count on. He didn't waste any time as he went to find the advisor who was usually in his office during this time.

He knocked on the door, and a few seconds later he heard Anemone call back, "Come in."

He opened the door, peeking inside. Anemone looked up at the same time and was surprised to see Hael standing there. Since Ceremus insisted on giving Hael more time to recover despite being able to move as normal, the guard was currently on break and had a lot of time on his hands.

He would normally be with Atilla, helping him with his training around this time, so he wasn't expecting Hael to be the other person behind the door.

"Hael, what a surprise! How can I help you?" He asked as he gestured for the guard to take a seat.

The guard obliged and sat down, staring the advisor down intently. Anemone's brows furrowed slightly as he wondered what Hael had to say.

"There's actually something I need help with. I was wondering if I could have a moment of your time." He said.

"Of course, I would be happy to be of assistance." He then rang the little bell next to his desk, and a servant entered the room shortly after. He requested a tray of sweets, as well as some tea they could enjoy while they chatted.

After the refreshments had arrived, Hael got straight to the point.

"How do sexual relations work? How does one engage in such intimate actions with the person they love?"

Anemone, who was in the middle of taking a sip of his tea, nearly dropped the scolding cup. He erupted in a violent flurry of coughs, completely taken aback by his words.

"S-Sorry?"

Hael offered him a napkin, which he accepted in a daze before continuing. "I wish to become one with my belo—with the person I am seeing, but I have little experience on such matters and don't know how to proceed."

Anemone wiped his mouth with a napkin, his mind struggling to keep up with the words he had just heard. He blinked at Hael, half expecting the guard to burst into laughter and admit he was merely jesting—not to take his words to heart.

But Hael's expression remained entirely serious.

A strange silence settled between, charged with awkwardness—more notably on Anemone's part. He set down his teacup with shaky fingers. His lips parted, but no words came.

He opened them again, only to close them once more. It wasn't often that Anemone found himself speechless, but how exactly was he supposed to respond to that?

Confusion followed after his surprise. Why is Hael asking me this? He wondered. He was aware of Hael's upbringing in the Aphthonia Forest and knew of his origins thanks to Ceremus, so it wasn't a surprise he was unaware. But surely there was someone else he could have gone to, especially concerning such sensitive matters.

Was there really no one else?

Then, realization hit him like a bolt of lightning.

The careful wording. The way Hael had almost said "beloved" before quickly correcting himself. And more importantly, the genuine curiosity gleaming in his eyes.

Oh. So it's like that...

Suddenly, another man came to mind and another thought. One he had been desperately trying to avoid came crashing in.

Anemone's expression flickered between astonishment and wariness.

"So..." He exhaled slowly, composing himself. "You wish to engage in intimate relations with the person you are seeing."

Hael nodded, entirely earnest. "Yes."

Anemone had to resist the urge to rub his temples. It didn't help that he had a certain idea of who the object of his affection might be.

He took another slow sip of tea, this time to buy himself time.

"Well," he began, choosing his words carefully. "Typically, such matters are learned over time—through instinct, guidance, or... personal experience."

Hael frowned. "That's the problem. I do not have any personal experience." He admitted.

Anemone inhaled deeply through his nose. He tried to wrack his mind with anything that could be of help to him. That's when an idea came to mind.

"The best way to learn is by reading. Perhaps you could look into books that cover such topics. There's a library in the drawing room that had an array of subjects. Try looked into those." He said with a complicated expression.

"I see. Then I will give reading a try," Hael said with a smile.

Anemone could only nod his head, instantly regretting giving him such guidance. To be completely honest, even he wasn't an expert on love, let alone physical intimacy. He never had the time to think of such things, as he was always busy with something. So there was a possibility his advice might be misguided, but it was the wisest out of all the options available.

He could only hope this wouldn't come to bite him in the rear later.
