The Era of Gods-Chapter 585 - : Ghost Envoy
Chapter 585: Chapter 585: Ghost Envoy
He reached out to grasp the light orb and directly merged it into his palm, instantly an inundation of information surged into his brain, causing Lin Xiao to momentarily lose his composure and become dazed.
This thing was entangled from countless Law Fragments, containing information about numerous laws, all of which were incomplete and in shambles, with a bit of everything and nothing systematic.
It could be called an overwhelming tidal wave of information, causing him to fall into a state of stupor:
“I was careless!”
By the time Lin Xiao’s head cleared from the deluge of information, he felt a sharp pain in his nostrils. Opening his eyes, he saw someone standing on his chest, driving a black sword into his nostril. He could even make out the astonished expression on the assailant’s face and the many fine black lines entwined around the black sword, as his golden blood flowed out from his nostril along the golden scales, extinguishing the black lines on the sword. The attacker swiftly withdrew the sword and retreated upon realizing Lin Xiao had regained consciousness.
“Fuck!”
Fury ignited within him, and he lifted his massive palm to sweep across, ‘bang,’ the sound reverberating as he sent the person flying dozens of meters away, crashing into a tree before rolling down in a heap, his body crushed to a pulp by the sheer force.
“To actually poke my nostril, you are really seeking death!”
He was somewhat fearful afterthought; it was just a poke in the nostril, but had it been somewhere else, wouldn’t that have been deadly?
What angered him the most was that the person was a Human Descender, one he had seen before.
Clearly, they had just witnessed him breaking into this space and obtaining the twisted Law Fragment, and out of greed, they made their move. However, at that moment, Lin Xiao was in his transformed state as the ten-meter-tall Asura Naga, with exceptional defenses that the assailant could not breach. If he had been in his ordinary human form, the outcome would likely have been dire.
Thinking back to the location of the attack and the danger he had faced, the more Lin Xiao thought about it, the angrier he got. He strode forward and stamped down with his foot.
Not far away, there were a few more Human Descenders, all of whom now wore expressions of distress. As they watched Lin Xiao, transformed into the Supreme Naga, stomp down, they sighed and the leader waved his hand, saying:
“Let it be, he brought the consequences upon himself. Attacking one of our own cannot be justified anywhere.”
With one foot, he crushed the man into a pulp, and a wisp of black smoke spurted out from beneath his foot, dispersing into the air. The Supreme Naga furiously raised his head towards the others, exhaled a rough breath, and, without paying them any attention, turned and walked away.
“He’s so powerful!”
The gaze he cast their way was enough for everyone to feel the intense pressure. The leader said to his companions:
“It’s a good thing we didn’t succumb to greed just now. Even if we had all attacked together, we wouldn’t have been enough for him to beat.”
Now that the twisted Law Fragment was in his possession, the space naturally collapsed, and he could walk straight out. A gentle breeze blew by, and the anger in his heart gradually subsided.
With the attacker dead, there was naturally no further need for anger, and yet another thought surfaced in his mind at this moment.
The integration of that twisted Law Fragment was directly through this avatar and hadn’t increased his own strength one bit, but it allowed him to grasp a vast amount of knowledge unique to this world. According to the chaotic and disordered information in the fragment, it seemed to contain a segment of relatively complete law.
To put it simply, the power system in this world was very peculiar. Although there were gods, even the weakest were comparable to Medium Divine Power.
The gods in this world, while spreading faith, did not achieve Divine Enthronement through faith. Instead, they were Ancient Gods, each one in possession of one of the Basic Underlying Laws, and their strength was immense.
Correspondingly, the number of True Gods in this world was limited because a Crystal Wall Universe only had ninety-nine Basic Lower-Level Rules. Although these laws vary in strength and the world’s unique traits differ, the number of fundamental laws is invariably fixed at ninety-nine—no more, no less.
Every new True God means one less spot. If one day all ninety-nine Ancient Gods are born, then no new True Gods will emerge in this world.
Lin Xiao didn’t know how many Ancient Gods currently existed in this world, but he was certain it was not full yet because the relatively complete law shown in the twisted Law Fragment he had devoured had not yet been mastered by any other entity.
Of course, this didn’t mean he was considering whether to collect this Law Fragment to fully master it and become one of this world’s Ancient Gods—that was far too difficult.
No entity having mastered it simply meant that there was none who could completely refine the rule to ascend to godhood. It did not mean that no powerful entities were collecting and mastering this law. With so few laws, subtracting the ones already mastered, only dozens remained, and there were undoubtedly powerful entities on their way to mastering this particular law.
His thought was whether he could use this to trade with the powerhouses of this world, such as the various True Gods or Evil Gods, and borrow their strength to enact his revenge and fulfill his bonds.
Lin Xiao had no intention of staying long in this world, nor did he consider Divine Enthronement or conquering this world.
Although the energy level of this Crystal Wall Universe was incredibly high, theoretically capable of birthing great divine power, this world had a significant flaw, making it exceedingly unsuitable for advancing to great divine power within this Crystal Wall Universe.
In the Chaotic Void Sea, there are innumerable large and small Crystal Wall Universes, but this was Lin Xiao’s first encounter with one whose World Crystal Wall was so fragile. It was so weak that even the common Chaos Storms of the Chaotic Void Sea could easily erode it. This World Crystal Wall was like a sieve, utterly incapable of protecting the inhabitants within the world.
If it were merely a fragile World Crystal Wall, that would not be too grave an issue—if a Transcendent being were born in this world, they could actively repair the World Crystal Wall.
But the fundamental lower-level rules within this world are also unstable, occasionally eroded or strippped away by chaos energy in bursts, mixing with the powers of chaos energy or chaos beings to form strange fragments.
When a world’s basic underlying laws are intermittantly stripped away, what future can it possibly have?
In the Chaos Sea of Void, such a Crystal Wall Universe is as conspicuous as a hundred-watt light bulb in the darkness, constantly attracting beings from the Chaos Sea of Void.
In fact, many twisted monsters are actually derivatives of the powers of mighty chaos beings in the chaos and the rules of this world. Where would a normal world have so many bizarre and twisted creatures?
Given the trajectory of this world’s development, if it attracted some supreme chaos creature one day, the entire world would likely be torn apart and destroyed.
A world with no future like this is suitable for a quick plunder, but definitely not for careful management and strategy.
Of course, that’s just his thought, not everyone has his vision and experiences. He may not be interested, but others don’t have as many choices.
“Or perhaps see if there are any strong human entities trying to conquer this world, if so, we could collaborate.”
For now, the priority is to gather more fragments.
Knowledge is strength, and though the rules and knowledge within these twisted fragments are chaotic, they are still quite valuable to those of mid to low levels. As long as one acquires enough knowledge, it’s possible to use the Creation Rubik’s Cube to forcibly deduce a new sequence profession suited for oneself.
This strange fragment isn’t too large. Through God’s Eye of Truth, observing one twisted Chaos Vortex after another, he quickly arrived at another nearby vortex.
This Chaos Vortex was much smaller than the previous one, and in the normal view, it looked like a huge primitive tribal cluster. Many had already entered before his arrival.
Under the Eye of Truth, the gate appeared to be made of two large bones propped against each other, looking gloomy and terrifying.
Upon entering, he immediately saw a small tribe closest to the gate engulfed in flames, with a few Alien Descenders standing outside. Inside, there was another Alien Descender engulfed by an approximately twenty to thirty meters in diameter green spirit halo, going back and forth, slaughtering within the small tribe.
This Alien Descender’s profession was known as Death Follower, a professional from the Evil God’s Death Sect, a complete profession system that can lead directly to Sequence Zero.
Their Sequence 9 is called Death Apprentice, Sequence 8 Death Priest, Sequence 7 Spirit Messenger, Sequence 6 Death Summoner, Sequence 5 Death Propagator, Sequence 4 Life Ender, Sequence 3 Harvester, Sequence 2 Disaster Lord, Sequence 1 Adjuster King, and Sequence Zero is known as the Lord of Extinction.Update by n0vgo. co
Based on the abilities that this Alien Descender displayed, he should be a Sequence 7 Spirit Messenger from the Death Follower system.
The green spirit light at his feet was actually an aura formed by countless ghosts, occasionally one could see green ghosts floating up and down within it. Any creature of flesh and blood entering the aura would be attacked by the hidden ghosts inside. Once a being was killed, its soul would be dragged into the spirit halo and become a new ghost.
If his strength increased in the future, advancing from a Sequence 7 Spirit Messenger to a Sequence 6 Death Summoner, then he could actively summon these ghosts, and one person would be an army unto himself.
These few Alien Descenders appeared to belong to the Death Follower profession system, and were quite powerful. They perhaps could not defeat Lin Xiao, but they were more than enough to handle this fragment.
Moreover, there were more than just these few in this fragment, other Descenders were taking action in the distance.
Lin Xiao glanced once and then turned to leave, too lazy to compete with a crowd.
Half an hour later, he arrived in front of a gorge. This was the largest independent space formed by a Chaos Vortex he had observed, where the twisted fragments inside were bound to be the largest. It was even possible that the main body of this large strange fragment lay here.
However, the place was already taken, with a large group of Alien Descenders blocking the entrance of the valley, confronting a group of about seventeen or eighteen at the gate.
Lin Xiao’s solitary approach didn’t attract their attention. He quietly approached the human Descenders, one of the middle-aged men gave him a nod in acknowledgment which he returned in a whisper:
“Are they trying to monopolize this place?”
The man nodded, then shook his head, saying,
“Not exactly monopolizing. They just won’t allow too many to pass. They’ve drawn a line, and to cross it, one must beat any one of the three they send out in single combat.”
“Are those three very strong?”
“Very strong indeed. Although they are only Sequence 7, they are extraordinary professionals who are extremely powerful at their tier. Most here can’t beat them, and those who can are reluctant to go in alone.”
“Can anyone try?”
The man looked at Lin Xiao in surprise and said,

“If I were you, I wouldn’t try. Even if you get in by yourself, be careful not to find you can’t get out again.”
