The Evil God Summoned by the Saintess-Chapter 43 - 41: Is This Still the Holy Daughter I Know?
"What happened?"
Alina and the two academy mentors landed on the ground. Seeing the knights lying about in disarray and the lingering traces of Magic, she was slightly stunned.
The other two mentors examined the surrounding situation, but Alina rushed straight over and checked Hilia from head to toe.
Seeing that Hilia was unharmed, she breathed a sigh of relief. "As long as you’re fine. Tell me, what happened here?"
"I beat up the Divine Hall knights and the High Priest," Hilia said.
"You beat up the her... what? Divine Hall knights? High Priest?"
For a moment, Alina didn’t react.
The mentor who was inspecting the battlefield walked over, a complex expression on his face.
"The people who fell aren’t heretics, they’re Holy Court knights, and there’s a High Priest too—seems to be the High Priest from Snow Fir Divine Hall in Xue Shan Town."
The three of them exchanged glances, and at the same time looked toward Hilia.
Hilia’s fair cheeks blushed slightly, and she lowered her head. "So, here’s what happened..."
She told them about the problems she encountered in the Divine Hall, and how, just as she was about to deal with the pollution, the High Priest suddenly appeared with the knights and everything that happened afterward.
"So you’re saying you defeated a Tier Three Mage, plus five Tier One knights?" Alina confirmed repeatedly.
Hilia nodded.
"I was just lucky, really. It was all thanks to Mr. Jack—he’s the one who took down Dylan. I only helped a little."
Jack: "?"
Another mentor came over and said, "The High Priest from Snow Fir Divine Hall had his Magic Power core shattered. He can no longer gather magic power."
The three looked at Hilia, thinking she shouldn’t be capable of that, and then looked at Jack, who was lying down.
Jack opened his mouth, wanting to say something, but Hilia already spoke up: "I did it. Lord Dylan ignored my attempts to stop him and wanted to kill all the villagers of Beia, calling them heretics. This was my punishment for him."
Alina and the other two: "???"
Alina pondered for a moment, then went over to check on Jack and said, "Your injuries are basically healed—it’s just magic power overconsumption. You can’t move yet, but a bit of rest and you’ll recover. Hello, we are mentors from the Divine Magic Academy. We’ll need your cooperation for an investigation regarding the situation here. Is that convenient for you?"
Jack nodded.
Like he had a choice.
The three before him didn’t show their tier at all—their magic power was abundant, not like Dylan who’d been worn down by life. Couldn’t beat them, not a chance.
Alina exchanged a glance with the two other mentors. One led Jack away while the other stayed with Alina, setting the five knights and Dylan together.
"Regis, please send them back and call over the Judgment Priests from Huijin Divine Hall to take over Snow Fir Divine Hall and convict them. I’ll go with Hilia to check the anomaly."
Regis nodded, raised his hand and cast a Floating Skill on all the wounded, then left with them.
"Is this the pile of pollution that was collected?" Hilia looked over at the house emanating polluted energy.
"Yeah, I’ll need you for this, Ms. Alina."
"Wait for me outside for a bit."
Alina entered the house, and it was a long time before she came out.
The pollution within had already faded substantially.
"Hilia, can we burn down this house? There’s too much pollution—it’s seeped into everything, and the house is unusable now."
"It can be burned, thank you, Ma’am," Marina’s voice came from nearby.
She’d just settled all the villagers and was about to join in the defense, but arrived only to find it was already over.
She even arrived later than the "Law Enforcement Team."
"Alright."
Alina raised her hand, and the entire house became a sea of fire.
After planting Arrays around to prevent the fire from spreading, she signaled to Hilia to board her Flying Device.
"Hilia, take me to check the anomaly over there."
"Sure."
Hilia, with her magic puppet, got onto Alina’s Flying Device—it was a Magic Guide Device shaped like a unicorn.
"Miss Marina, please keep an eye on things here for us; we’ll be right back."
"Alright, don’t worry."
...
At Lake Beia, after Alina landed, she immediately felt the persistent pollution in the air.
The pollution here was faint—if you didn’t stay for long it wouldn’t affect ordinary people.
This trace felt all too familiar: Alina immediately connected it to the traces found near the academy.
She understood instantly.
"So this is where it was. To think we turned the whole area around the Academy and Huijin City upside down, and found no sign of a sect ritual."
She turned and looked at Hilia. "How did you discover this, Hilia?"
Hilia blinked. "I just happened to be here doing a Mercenary commission."
"Happened to?"
"Yeah. I went to the Mercenary Guild and asked if they had any high-difficulty commissions. They recommended this one, so I came."
Alina thought it over and figured it must be true.
It wasn’t possible that Hilia came all this way on purpose, right?
"I see. You’ve been a huge help."
Alina patted Hilia’s head, as if seeing her for the first time:
"I didn’t expect that you’d be the one to find the sect pollution that’s troubled us for so long, or that you’d help the Holy Court get rid of a parasite. If I hadn’t seen it myself, I’d wonder if you really did it."
Of course, what shocked Alina even more was that Hilia could fight a Tier Three Mage. Even with help, for the enemy to be a waste among Tier Threes—that was still impressive.
Hilia’s face turned red from all the praise.
She didn’t do any of that stuff.
It was all the Evil God’s doing.
She actually seemed to be abetting the enemy...
"Let the academy handle this spot. You can’t handle this anomaly. Just come back with me later."
"Okay, but Ms. Alina, before I go, I’d like to say goodbye to the friends in the village."
"Alright, I’ll take you."
...
After returning Hilia to Beia Village, the mentor who went to speak with Jack finished his report, and together with Alina, left to handle the anomaly at Lake Beia.
Hilia went to find Marina.
"Miss Marina, our academy has already taken over the issue with Lake Beia. Don’t worry, the academy will handle it well so you won’t be disturbed again."
"Thank you, Miss Hilia. I’m very sorry that we can’t afford to pay you all much—this is what I’ve saved up..."
"It’s fine. The ten silver coins for the commission are enough. If there’s trouble in the future, you can just come to the Divine Magic Academy and mention my name."
Marina seemed at a loss. After a pause, she asked, "May I ask... are there any heretics in the village?"
Hilia thought of Jack—he was the only heretic in the village; the rest just accidentally came into contact with the pollution.
But that was what Rose said—the academy mentors hadn’t even said if Jack was a heretic...
"No, don’t worry." Hilia shook her head.
"That’s good."
"By the way, where’s Mr. Jack? I have something I’d like to ask him." Hilia asked.
"He’s at home. That gentleman sent him back."
"Okay, keep watch here. I’ll go find him."
...
Hilia brought her magic puppet to Jack’s house and saw him lying on a mat at the door, basking in the sun.
"Mr. Jack, are you feeling better?" the girl asked with concern.
"Much better. Thank you for your Healing Skill, Hilia... ma’am." 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖
"Just call me Hilia."
"Thanks, Hilia. You came for something, didn’t you? Go on and ask. If I know, I won’t hide it." Jack knew Hilia would definitely come looking for him.
"You’re a Tier Two Mage, right?" Hilia asked.
Jack nodded.
"Are you a heretic?"
Jack froze and fell into thought.
After a moment, he said, "To the Holy Court, I suppose I am."
"Really? Then why isn’t there any trace of pollution on you?"
Jack was silent for a long time. He gave Hilia a long, serious look and, instead of answering, asked a question in return.
"Do you know the Hiro Association?"
