The Exalted Prince Lives Again-Chapter 44: Orientation [2]
Chapter 44: Orientation [2]
"Florence Duret?" Lucien mumbled quietly.
"Ring a bell?" William was curious, wondering if the Prince himself knew anything.
But to his dismay, Lucien shook his head in denial.
"By the way, I got 44th rank." William grinned, showing him a V sign with his hands.
"Congrats on making it in the top 50," Lucien said, patting his back.
"You must have placed in the top 5 then," William guessed fairly accurately.
"2nd."
"As expected, but who’s the first then?" William asked curiously,
Lucien shrugged in response, "I was about to ask you the same."
"Must be a guy, since I know about all the girls here."
"..."
Lucien stared at him, deadpan.
"And, how... do you know about all the girls here again?"
"..."
"Game is game."
Lucien frowned, "What does that even mean–"
"Attention Cadets," The way of addressing had changed, and so did the voice.
It was heavier, dominant, and more oppressive than Arthur’s voice.
His stature was tall, with long brown locks flowing down his shoulders.
His eyes were sharp, his face had a permanent frown, and he had stubble all over his face.
He was wearing heavy metallic armor, with a red cape floating behind.
Anyone who ever dreamt of getting admitted to Lumen Academy knew him.
How could they not?
After all, it was the dean of the academy standing in front of them.
Marcus Elliott.
"First of all, I’d like to congratulate everyone present here for being selected in the prestigious Lumen Academy."
His tone was ironically... polite.
None of them expected such a dominant voice to be polite.
"This academy has a great heritage of over 500 years..."
At a certain point, half of the students, including Lucien, completely zoned out from his boring speech.
Marcus went on and on and on about the prestige and glory of the academy like a parrot.
"Now, for the rest of the Orientation, I would like to invite the school’s newly assigned student council president, Edric Callastre."
"Huh?" William and Lucien, who were both dozing out, were instantly jolted awake.
William, because he heard his friend’s surname with another person’s name.
And Lucien was jolted awake because he heard the name of the first prince.
’Oh yeah, he was also a student here.’ Lucien didn’t even remember this piece of information.
Maybe because he deemed it to be irrelevant, or maybe because he couldn’t care less.
But thinking about it now, if Edric were the student council president, things would be a lot harder from now on.
From the right side of the stage, a devilishly handsome young man climbed the stage, whose charming appearance immediately sent a wave of murmurs across all the new cadets.
Especially female.
As he was climbing the stage, he scanned through the new cadets, and his eyes immediately locked with his brother.
He gave him a ’polite’ smile and winked at him, which sent a shiver down Lucien’s spine.
’Why do I always end up with creepy older brothers?’
But while he thought that, nearly every girl in Lucien’s general area started squealing in excitement.
"Tsk!" It was William who did that, attracting Lucien’s immediate attention.
"Huh?"
William’s eyes widened in fear, realizing whom he clicked his tongue at, right next to his brother.
"L-Lucien–"
Pat!
Lucien put his hand on William’s shoulders, making him flinch again.
"Calm down." He consoled him, "No direct heir of the royal Palace likes each other. Except Luna, everyone loves her."
Phew!
William took a deep breath, his heart still beating out of his chest.
"I see."
Both of them focused their attention back on Edric, who had just finished adjusting his mic.
"Good Morning, everyone." His voice was deep, soothing, and attractive, making William roll his eyes again. ƒreeωebnovel.ƈom
"What the fuck is he even doing here at this point." He snorted, whispering to ust Lucien, "He should just do movies or be an idol."
"Well, you would see a clown show soon, so I guess there’s that," Lucien whispered back, both shit talking Edric.
Pfft!
Just like the dean, Edric also went on about the academy’s discipline and safety protocols, and its grand prestige.
He even mentioned how much power and influence the council had over the student’s body, which made Lucien worried about his future here.
Honestly, a student council might only have slightly less power than an actual professor.
The council had the power to challenge some professors’ decisions, and had access to many staff-only things on the campus.
"This particular semester’s quality was one of the highest in the entire academy, and we also had many great students," Edric added mid-speech, finally attracting Lucien’s and William’s attention, who weren’t listening at all.
"But there could only be 1 valedictorian in both the combat courses."
Of course, he was talking about Sorcerers and Warriors.
The people from support courses, or theory courses, weren’t really given much importance in the Lumen Academy.
It was the best overall academy in the two nations.
But in terms of research and theory courses, there was a better academy out in the Solstice Republic.
"Introducing, the valedictorian of the sorcerer’s department, Michael Fonseca."
Clap! Clap!
Waves of clapping thundered throughout the auditorium as a man of rather below average stature stepped onto the stage.
His long, silky hair was lavender purple, which matched perfectly with his enchanting and serene eyes.
His face looked so calm and peaceful that not even William could hate on it, even though he had a particular dislike for people who were more handsome than him.
And not only was Michael handsome, but his background was equally impressive.
The firstborn of one of the Octads of the Sentinel Order.
The biggest organization in the entire world, whose power was enough to subdue entire nations alone, and the only organization that can go neck-to-neck against the Holy State of Caelum.
Lucien could feel the sheer power emanating from his body.
’Peak of the Adept realm.’ Luncien thought.
Michael was on the verge of breaking through into the Elite realm.
Lucien watched him seriously as he came up, bowed in front of everyone, and backed down to the back of the stage.
He was expressionless the entire time, but the Orientation continued.
"And now, introducing the valedictorian of the Warriors’ department, Mirae Kynth."
"Lucien," William whispered, "That’s the guy that was right next to me when I first met you, remember?"
Lucien nodded, but a realization soon dawned upon him. "You do realize that Mirae is a female name, right?"
"..."
"Say that again."
