The Extra Villain: I Made a Contract With The Dragon Empress!-Chapter 317: Welcoming Ceremony (2)
The students quickly took their seats. Catrine, Margaret, Luna, Liora, and Monica sat in the front row.
Many boys wanted to sit next to them, but Catrine's aura was so intimidating that they changed their minds.
"May I sit here?"
A girl's voice came from beside them. They turned and saw Nexara, the daughter of the dragon race.
Liora seemed to have met her counterpart and nodded with a friendly expression.
"Of course!"
Nexara smiled and sat down beside her. Luna, Catrine, Margaret, and Monica said nothing, as if they agreed.
"By the way, my name is Nexara. Nice to meet you all," Nexara introduced herself.
"I'm Liora. Nice to meet you too," Liora replied with a sweet smile.
"I'm Monica," Monica chimed in.
"I'm Luna."
"I'm Margaret."
Only Catrine remained silent. Feeling their gaze, she turned to Nexara and gave a slight nod.
"I'm Catrine. Nice to meet you."
Nexara was not offended by her cold demeanor.
"The strong show arrogance and dominance," was a saying among the dragon race. Since Catrine had already shown her abilities, Nexara saw nothing wrong with it.
They then talked and became acquainted with Nexara. Since she was from the dragon race, Luna and Monica asked her many questions about it, which quickly brought them closer.
"By the way, where is Merlin Clay?" Nexara asked curiously.
As soon as Merlin's name left her mouth, Margaret, Luna, and Catrine's expressions immediately changed. Their faces tensed, and their gazes sharpened.
Sensing this, Nexara coughed and quickly clarified, "Don't get me wrong. I'm just curious. After all, Merlin Clay and I are friends."
"Friends?" The three of them looked surprised.
Nexara smiled and gave a small nod.
"Yeah, he and I are friends. We met during the previous test."
She then explained how she had met Merlin during the Star Island test.
After hearing that, the three of them simultaneously felt a sense of relief.
They had thought Nexara might be a threat. Fortunately, she was just Merlin's friend.
Even so, an ancient proverb once said, "Love grows from friendship."
So, they weren't going to let Nexara get closer to Merlin. They had to prevent it, no matter what.
As if sharing the same thought, the three of them exchanged glances and nodded.
Nexara was confused by their reaction. For some reason, instead of fading, their wariness toward her seemed to grow.
"Merlin isn't here," Margaret replied casually. "He'll be the representative of the first-year students."
Liora, Monica, and Nexara were surprised. Liora and Monica, in particular, didn't expect Merlin to be their representative.
At first, they thought Merlin was waiting for them in the welcoming hall. But after seeing that he wasn't there, they assumed he was late.
Who would have thought he would be their representative?
Their faces clearly showed admiration and amazement.
It wasn't just the two of them—Nexara hadn't expected Merlin to be their representative either.
But after witnessing his abilities two days ago, it made complete sense.
Nysera had been defeated with just one punch. In fact, the punch didn't even hit her; it stopped a few meters from her face.
Although Nexara was quite far from the arena, she could still feel the pressure of the bloodline from that punch. It felt as if Merlin possessed a dragon bloodline far purer than hers.
The reason she approached Luna and the others was to meet Merlin Clay.
She wanted to confirm whether Merlin truly had a dragon bloodline purer than hers.
If that were true, it would surely cause an uproar among the dragon race, and whatever the reason, it would have to be investigated.
Unfortunately, the boy wasn't here, which made her feel somewhat disappointed.
Just then, Ronald and the professors appeared on stage.
But unlike before, an extraordinarily beautiful woman walked in front of Ronald.
The woman was tall, had gray hair, and possessed a beautiful yet stern and cold face.
Many people did not recognize her, but Catrine, Luna, and Margaret did.
'The Head of the Academy even came in person. It seems Merlin is truly very valuable to her,' Margaret whispered in awe.
Linda rarely appeared in public. Margaret had assumed the woman would not attend this ceremony.
To her surprise, she had actually appeared before them. Margaret couldn't help but associate this with Merlin, Linda's personal student.
Ronald stepped forward and stopped in front of the podium. He looked at the students and said firmly, "Thank you all for coming, new students. Welcome to Saint Freya Academy. We welcome you here, and I hope you can bring great change to our academy."
Upon hearing his words, all the students' blood boiled with excitement.
Entering the academy was a dream for the young generation on this continent. And now that they had the chance to study here, they were extremely excited.
However, they did not shout and continued listening quietly to Ronald's speech.
After five minutes, Ronald finished and said, "Now then, let's welcome the representative of the first year, Merlin Clay!"
Merlin appeared from the right side of the stage. He looked incredibly handsome in his golden academy robe.
But unlike the other students, he wore a white cape draped over his right shoulder.
A sword and spear emblem was embroidered on the cape, making him look even more authoritative.
His white hair was combed back, adding to his charm.
When the girls saw him, their eyes sparkled with admiration and love. Merlin was the most handsome boy they had ever seen.
"He's so handsome! Do you think I can approach him?"
"Pfft! Don't even hope for it. Don't you see the girls beside him? Each of them is very talented and strong. You'll get beaten up if you try to approach Merlin Clay."
"You're right. But I really like him! Ugh… Is this love at first sight?"
Whispers spread among the girls in the hall. Even Caelith and Crystal, who considered Merlin their rival, couldn't help but admire his appearance.
"Damn! Is this the charm of a handsome man? Why don't I have a face like his?" a boy gritted his teeth as tears streamed down his face.
The other boys felt sympathy for him, but then they realized they weren't as handsome as Merlin Clay either, which made them feel just as sad and devastated.
Merlin stopped beside Ronald, nodded to him, and then stepped forward to the podium to give his speech.
His gaze swept over the students below before he spoke confidently.
"Welcome to Saint Freya Academy, my friends..."
