The Extra's Reincarnation-Chapter 76: Free For All (6)
Time seemed to slow as Julian made his decision.
-I can’t dodge that would leave Kyra exposed, If I were to block it entirely the force would still knock me back into her. No… there was only one option.
With otherworldly speed, he stepped forward and reached out, his hands towards the spear.
He allowed the tip to graze his right hand and just as it passed through the tip of his fingers he grabbed the shaft of the spear and used its momentum to spin his body and throw it back towards Cullen.
Cullen’s eyes widened in shock.
"What the fuck-"
Cullen barely had time to react as his own water spear came hurtling back towards him at incredible speed. He dove to the side, the spear missing him by mere inches before shattering against the wall behind him.
"Impossible!" Cullen snarled, his face contorted with rage and disbelief. "How did you-"
But Julian didn’t give him time to finish because he had already leaped from the broken window to the roof Cullen was on a full 15 meter jump.
"…!"
Julian landed on the roof with cat-like grace, his eyes still glowing with the power of Divine Eyes.
Cullen stumbled back, shocked to see him jump from such a distance.
WHOOSH
Julian’s fist rocketed towards Cullen’s face with blinding speed. Cullen barely managed to throw up a hasty water barrier, but Julian’s punch shattered through it like glass.
CRACK!
The impact sent Cullen stumbling just slightly, but he understood what kind of opponent he was up against.
"So the little hero has some tricks up his sleeve, but don’t think that’ll be enough to save you or that pathetic girl."
Cullen spat, his voice dripping with venom.
Julian, on the other hand, remained silent at his words, staring at Cullen with the intent of protecting Kyra.
"No response? It doesn’t matter, let’s see how you handle this!"
Cullen’s hands began to glow with a blue light as he summoned more water, forming it into a swirling vortex around him.
With a shout, Cullen sent a barrage of water projectiles hurtling towards Julian.
The air filled with the whistling sound of water cutting through air at high speed.
DING!
Julian’s Divine Eyes allowed him to track each projectile’s path and with his clear insight, he weaved and dodged with inhuman grace as the water missiles barely grazed his clothes.
-He can dodge, react and move at high speeds, If I’m going to win, then it has to be in close combat!
Cullen, seeing Julian close in, quickly summoned his elemental weapon.
"Serpent’s Spear!"
Water rose and swirled in Cullen’s hands, quickly taking the form of a spear. Its most striking feature was the transition from the shaft to the blade, resembling a serpent.
"You’re making a mistake. Do you really think you can best me in close combat without a weapon? You’ll regret this."
Julian’s eyes narrowed as he scrutinized Cullen’s water spear. The weapon was impressive, but Julian had encountered far worse in his current life. Nevertheless, he knew he couldn’t underestimate his opponent.
"We’ll see about that," Julian replied calmly, closing in.
Cullen lunged forward, thrusting his spear at Julian’s chest with lightning speed. But Julian was faster. He sidestepped the attack, letting the spear’s tip pass only mere inches from his body.
Then in the same motion he infused mana into his fist and went for a jab towards Cullen.
BOOM!
Julian’s punch was blocked by the water’s shaft, however, for Cullen, his block didn’t come without consequences, as the force of Julian’s attack was enough to break his weapon.
CRACK…
Shards of crystallized water scattered across through the air, shining in the dim light but Cullen simply smiled confidently.
"Return…"
The words Cullen had uttered created a blue glow of energy that surrounded the crystallized remanence of his spear.
WHOOOOOOSH!
Julian’s eyes widened as he realized Cullen’s correct strategy.
The scattered shards of water returned to Cullen hitting and scraping Julian in the process.

"You fell right into my trap," Cullen sneered, his eyes glinting with malice.
"My Hydra’s Teeth technique. Each shard is as sharp as a real blade, and I control them all."
Julian winces as razor-sharp water shards slice across his skin, leaving a network of shallow cuts.
He can’t believe the surreal sensation of being hurt; it’s the first time he’s experienced actual pain.
Whether he likes it or not, the aching soreness spreading throughout his body confirms that what he’s seeing is, indeed, reality.
BOOM!
Before he knew it, Cullen’s spear had struck Julian in the chest, sending him back to the edge of the roof.
As he stumbled, his chest began to throb where he had been struck. He could feel warm blood trickling from the numerous cuts that had been inflicted by Hydra’s teeth technique.
"Not so tough now, are we, hero? I wonder how long you’ll last before I send you back to wherever you came from."
Cullen, sensing Julian’s sudden uncertainty, pressed his advantage.
With a cruel smirk, Cullen dismantles his weapon and forms a larger, more menacing spear. The water swirls and churns, taking on an almost sentient quality as it shapes into a deadly weapon.
"No answer, huh? I guess you were all talk then…" Cullen muttered, disappointed to see Julian in this state.
Even for Julian, he tried to regain his composure, to tap into the skills and abilities that had served him so well until now.
Haah...Haah... Haah...
But the shock of pain had thrown him off balance, both physically and mentally.
His movements were usually so fluid and precise, but now they’ve become clumsy and hesitant.
WHOOSH!
Cullen lunged forward, thrusting his spear with devastating force.
Julian, seeing his attack, managed to dodge at the last second, but his footing was poor.
His face was pale, almost as if had seen a ghost, even the corners of his lip trembled with fear.
-Why is he shaking? I haven’t done anything significant to cause this. But why do I even care? This brings me closer to becoming the Royal Blade!
Cullen was smiling brightly at this clear opportunity. Not only is Julian not fighting back, but he’s also in a state of shock.
BAM!
And finally... the water blade caught Julian squarely in the chest, and the impact sent him flying backwards off the roof.
