There was only one guess she had for that; Vicky knew one of the people involved in the accident. Maybe a family member.

"Then why the fuck did Josh not take over when he saw that?" Cyprian whispered.

"Maja, get in contact with them and ask why," Team leader Zuresh echoed from behind her.

Cyprian turned, having not noticed earlier that the older woman had come to stand behind her.

"Ma’am," she called.

"I noticed it too." Team leader Zuresh nodded, whispering back, "There’s something wrong somewhere. Let’s wait until Maja returns and then we know what next."

With a small nod, Cyprian directed her gaze back to the love footage they were watching and broadcasting at the same time.

"According to a trusted source, there is a total number of 17 victims, none dead but all injured, from the bus alone. One of the victims recognized as Show anchor Shikera Anderson, also revealed as the one and only daughter of one of the Mega families core member, Liam Anderson of the Anderson Corp..."

Cyprian didn’t wait to watch the rest of the footage after the camera left Vicky’s face and approached a group of wailing ambulance buses with wounded victims being helped in.

"I’m sorry, Ma’am. Someone else can conclude the announcement," she managed to excuse herself before dashing out the news room, without bothering to wait for approval from her team leader.

Not like the latter was going to stop her anyways. She was also standing rooted to one spot, her eyes widened in shock.

Cyprian dashed out into the hallway, retrieving her phone as she ran towards the elevator. Her fingers flew across the screen in quick session and within seconds, she was dialing Raymond’s number.

"Did you watch the news just now?" she asked, immediately the call connected.

"Meet us at Lucian Rays," came the sharp reply, and after a short pause, "Are you alright, Rian? Will you need me to pick you up?"

"Provided you can get here within a minute," Cyprian replied, her voice laced in sarcasm. She hung up on the call immediately, proceeding to punch in the elevator button as she waited impatiently for the lift to arrive.

"What the heck is going on?!" she whisper-yelled, already preparing to pull out her hair in frustration when the elevator dinged and the doors slid open.

She rushed in, not minding the fact that it was almost filled up and pressed the button for the ground floor.

"Miss Leigh?" A voice came from behind her and she turned, a grim look in her eyes.

"Yes?"

It was a middle aged woman, one of the obnoxious team leaders who had never bothered talking to her before this. But even at her obvious disrespect just now, the woman didn’t seem bothered by it. If anything, her smile only broadened.

"Your former teammate that got in an accident. Is she really—?"

Cyprian interrupted, "You can come with me to the hospital to find that out."

Turning away, she dialled Raymond’s number again to calm her frayed nerves down.

"Is she okay?"

"About that..." Raymond hesitated, eliciting a long and dry sigh from Cyprian.

"Will you just tell me, Ray? Good...or bad?" she asked.

"What if i tell you I also don’t know? I’m in the hospital and standing right outside the operation theatre but things are looking bleak."

Cyprian lowered her voice to ask, "Mr DeLoach?"

"Don’t ask," Raymond replied. "Just get here as soon as you can. Miss Ander—Shikera, your best friend will survive it. She won’t leave without saying goodbye...like your mom did, alright?"

"Alright," Cyprian nodded vigorously, relief pouring into her heart at his reassurance even though she knew she couldn’t trust it.

As her hand dropped from her ear, only one sentence began to resound in her mind.

"We have to say our byes, Kera."

Lucian Rays Hospitals, OR.

"Does he want a fucking bullet in his head?!" Ethan growled, slamming his hand against the screen before him.

He hadn’t been allowed to go into the operation theatre earlier with Shikera and was instead ushered here where he could watch her, alongside Krystal, Kyle and Raymond. He could accept that since it was believed the doctors wouldn’t be able to work well in an oppressive atmosphere but now, what the hell were the fuckers doing?

"His fear of that is probably what is causing him to be anxious," Kyle replied from behind him, earning a hard glare from Ethan.

"Demand a change of surgeons," he demanded.

"We can’t," Krystal spoke up. "The best doctors are attending to her already."

"Get more," Ethan ordered firmly. "Fucking demand from other hospitals if you can!"

"We can’t," Krystal replied again. Her voice had lost it usual confident undertone and was now a little bit timid as she continued, "Other hospitals have their fair share of emergency patients. Besides, bringing them here doesn’t guarantee a change. The only solution now is to get in there by myself..."

The group went silent, knowing the implication of what she just proposed.

If she went into the operation theatre and Shikera ended up not coming out alive, then the relationship between the Almighty Alexanders and the Deloachs would be strained forever. Ethan hadn’t mentioned a word, but his eyes were basically screaming threats.

"Get in," he said. "I’m not taking chances."

Krystal nodded, "I’ll try my best to bring her out of there alive."

Ethan gave a curt nod in reply, "And the babies... if possible."

"Like I said, I’ll try," she promised, and walked out the door.

A short silence accompanied her departure, and Kyle broke it, "I will join her."

And he was gone too.

Raymond stepped forward, "The news was broadcasted," he informed.

"And?"

Raymond continued, "Miss Anderson’s identify as a Mega youngster was also exposed. Basically every Mega family member are on their way to the hospital right now and..."

"What?"

"The reporters are also camped out. Cyprian is—"

"Find a way to get her in," Ethan interrupted. "Doesn’t matter if she’s with a camera or not. Kera wouldn’t want her friend far from her."

"Got it," Raymond flashed a bland smile, bowing slightly as he walked out of the room. Closing the door behind himself, his eyes widened in shock when he saw the person already standing there.
