The Faceless Billionaire Celebrity Wife-Chapter 345: Number 1 and 2
"Everyone’s ogling my husband. What if we just wrap it all up and go home?" the text read.
"I would love to," Ethan replied her, his voice so low that if not for the small mic fastened to his collar, she wouldn’t have heard it.
Before Shikera could tease him more, the audience had stopped the murmurings and now turned to the podium. One by one, they began clapping, creating a perfect beat with their chorus, "Let’s see his face! Let’s see his face! Let’s see his face!"
The large screen before her was also boozing with comments of the same. Shikera, still suppressing her amusement, turned to Ethan with a playful glint in her eyes. "It seems like the audience has another request, Mr. DeLoach," she said, her voice teasing. "They’re practically begging for you to take off your mask. What do you say? Should we give the people what they want?"
The audience erupted with cheers, clearly eager to see the man behind the mask. "Take it off!" someone shouted from the back row, followed by a chorus of "Please, Mr DeLoach!" and "Show us your face!"
Without a word, Ethan shifted slightly in his seat, his hand reaching up to the edge of the mask. Shikera watched him closely, her heart skipping a beat as he hesitated for only a second before removing it in one smooth motion.
The moment his face was revealed, a wave of exclamations swept through the crowd.
"Oh my god, he’s even more handsome than I imagined!"
"Is he even real? He looks like he walked out of a dream!"
"I need a moment... he’s perfect!"
The comments section on the screen froze for a whole ten seconds, as if the entire online audience had collectively lost their ability to react. Then, as if a switch had been flipped, the comments began pouring in at a faster rate than before, buzzing with excitement and disbelief.
Shikera leaned forward slightly, unable to resist reading some of the comments.
"That face should be illegal... someone call the authorities!"
"I’m sorry, but how is it possible for someone to look like THAT?"
"Ethan DeLoach is officially my new obsession. Can someone get his skincare routine?"
"I don’t know what to do with myself. My life is changed forever."
"Forget the voice, that face just destroyed me. RIP to my sanity."
Shikera’s eyes had almost left the screen when her eyes caught a new comment.
"Anchor Shikera Anderson is a liar! I attended a school trip with classmates and she came. She told us Ethan DeLoach has hideous scars on his face and made us stop crushing on him!" the comment read.
Shikera stifled a laugh, meeting Cyprian’s raised brows across the room before diverting her gaze back to Ethan.
The screams and admiration from the audience continued, with some spectators standing up to applaud, others still shouting their praises. "Marry me, Ethan!" one woman yelled, causing a ripple of laughter to spread through the crowd.
Shikera couldn’t help but smile, shaking her head as she looked at Ethan. "Well, I guess that’s what happens when you finally reveal the man behind the mask," she said, her voice light with humor. "The world can’t handle it."
The show progressed smoothly, with Shikera expertly guiding the conversation, drawing out stories and insights from Ethan, all while maintaining the careful distance they had agreed upon. They covered everything from his vision for the DL Corporation to his philanthropic efforts, the audience hanging on every word.
Ethan’s eyes, though shrouded, would meet hers every now and then. For questions he only needed to answer with a yes or a no, he would give a small nod in acknowledgment but remain silent, his calm demeanor only amplifying the curiosity of those watching.
"Okay!" Shikera exclaimed when he was done answering all the questions she had in her notepad, a hint of relief in her voice. "We will be taking four questions, two from the physical audience and another two from the virtual audience, and our guest will be answering it honestly. Hmmm... who might the lucky winners of that opportunity be?"
As she expected, her words sent another wave of excitement through the physical audience while the website for the virtual feed had to be brought down for a few seconds, before it was activated again.
She continued, "We will be picking our winners randomly so everyone should calm down. Composure might be a judging factor in choosing the winners from the physical audience too so..." She trailed off, almost bursting out in laughter when the audience went silent all of a sudden.
"Great. So we will request that our guest close his eyes now and call out the numbers of the winners. It’s a random pick so we don’t want anyone getting disappointed by the results."
She turned to Ethan and he closed his eyes, ratting off the numbers that had been sitting on his mind since earlier that day.
"Seat number 1 and 2," he deadpanned.
Not only the audience, but also the crew members and Shikera were surprised by his choice of numbers. This wasn’t a random pick; it seemed more like a lazy pick.
While the middle aged woman and the teenager on the seats he mentioned jubilate silently on their luck, Shikera proceeded, "Next up is choosing from the virtual audience. Every single viewer have their unique user ID, from number one to infinity," she chuckled, "So just pick two numbers. Would you like to close your eyes or—"
"There would be no need for that," Ethan interrupted. "Either way, I have the numbers I want to chose at the back of my mind."
Shikera’s brows arched in curiousity.
"And those numbers are?"
"Number 1 and 2," Ethan replied.
The comments began moving again, with viewers expressing disappointment at the simple pick Ethan made.
Shikera sat up in her seat,
"Mr DeLoach, you have picked the same two numbers for both the physical and virtual winners; could you perhaps tell us the reason for this? Do this numbers hold special significance to you or was that just a... lazy pick?"
