The Fate Of The World Is In My Hands, But All I Want To Do Is Eat!-Chapter 398: Why so soon?
Chapter 398: Why so soon?
Clarissa felt foreign in this house. It was different from her own house but that wasn’t why. It was because this was the place Alice lived.
She never thought she would see this day.
This was the living room Alice relaxed in, and over at the corner was the dining table, then there was the kitchen, and up the stairs was probably where her room was.
To think she would get so excited just thinking about Alice’s abode. It made her cold heart beat warmly.
Everyone had sat down to calm themselves down and Mark went to the kitchen to get a treat for them, if he could find one.
"Do we just wait here? Is it okay?" Maki asked and Lance asked her,
"Why? You sound like we’re on the run." He said. "The reason we’re here is because we’re basically just exhausted from all that chaos. To think different gates would open up in the middle of the sports event." He relaxed his back, interlocking his fingers behind his head. "As much as I’d like to go home, I think I’d like to rest here for a bit."
"Yeah, m-me too." Nicholas said.
"Well, it is nice." Steph said. "Then, while we’re here, should we talk about our plans to go to the beach?"
"What? Who told you about that?" Alice asked and Diane darted her eyes away. "Tattletale."
"Come on, don’t you know the more the merrier?" Diane stuck her tongue out.
"Yeah, guess it’s like that." Alice said, brushing her hand over her hair. "So, you guys want to go to the beach as well?" She asked and they nodded. "In that case, why don’t we do it tomorrow?"
"Why so soon?" Lance asked.
"Well, after everything that happened today, we need a form of relaxation, don’t you think?" Alice asked. "If we go to the beach tomorrow, we can burn away all the stress."
"You’re right,"
So, it was concluded. They would go to the beach the next day.
"So, do you think the orientation will still be held on Sunday?" Maki asked, swinging her legs.
"Why wouldn’t it?" Diane asked.
"Well, after all that happened, I thought it might be postponed."
"Nonsense. After what happened today, the agency and association will be eager to raise young warriors and avoid today’s incident from repeating itself. The students were all powerless against the monsters even though they had the power to fight, and it’s because they lack real-life experience." Diane explained. "They’ll want to educate us more about the monsters, protocols to follow during a gate break, and, if possible, arrange a date to take the students into a gate and have them experience real combat."
"Really?"
"That makes sense," Clarissa said. "By doing that, the chances of us dying during a gate break will be limited since we’ll be able to take on monsters without being too scared of them."
"Sigh," Alice sighed and they all turned to her. "I know that’s what the agency will plan to do but I don’t think it’s a good idea," she said.
Especially when the gates were all malfunctioning, and the danger level was increasing randomly, it wouldn’t be a good idea to take students into gates for the time, but it’s not like the entire world would listen to her.
Suddenly, her phone rang and she looked around. Where was her phone ringing from?
"Here," Leo handed it to her and she wondered if he had been with it the whole time.
She looked at the screen and discovered it was Adolf.
"Hey, gramps," she answered.
"Alice, where are you right now?" He asked.
"Well, I’m at home right now."
"Alright. I’m coming over to pick you up." He said and her head tilted a bit, confused. "A council meeting has been called unanimously and I have a feeling your name is going to come up during our discussions, so I’ll take you with me now instead of having to summon you halfway."
"Well, alright," she answered. Though she didn’t like those old foggies, she had to set something straight with them and hopefully never have to see their faces anymore.
She cut the call and got up.
"Where are you going?" Diane asked.
"I have a meeting to attend," Alice answered. "So, I’ll need to get changed."
A few minutes later, someone rang the bell and Mark went to open it. Luckily, he found some snacks so he was able to offer them to the kids.
He opened the door and found Adolf. Behind him was Marcus.
"Chairman," Mark quickly bowed his head in respect and the kids looked towards the door.
"Who’s that?" Steph asked, munching on the chips in her mouth.
Clarissa looked closely and said,
"That’s the chairman of the awakened association."
As soon as she said that, their eyes and mouths dropped.
"The chairman?!" They exclaimed, shocked, and she, as well as Damian, seemed to be the only ones calm about it.
Since she already met the Chairman in the principal’s office and she knew he had a connection with Alice, she wasn’t surprised that he was here in her house.
"What could the chairman be doing here?" Lance asked in whispers.
"You don’t think he’s here to take Domus, do you?" Steph asked in return.
"No, he’s not." Damian answered. "Alice said she has a meeting to attend so I think he’s here for her."
"Really? Isn’t this too grand though? He’s the chairman so how is it that he’s here to personally pick her up?"
They were more shocked than doubtful. To think Alice had such strong connections.
Adolf walked in and saw the kids snacking but they tried to pretend they were wallflowers and not attract his attention. They had no idea how to greet the chairman so they wished he would just ignore them.
And before he could even approach them, Alice walked down the stairs.
"Alright, I’m ready for war," she announced as her feet touched the ground.
She wore a white crop top, a pair of short-length skinny pants, and a pair of white sneakers. Of course, she did not forget to wear her jacket. She was ready to kick the ass of anyone who was going to get on her nerves in the meeting.
And if things go well, she just might have her fight with Noah and be done with the entire council.
"Gramps," she called as she approached him. "I’m ready so let’s get going."
"Ahem," Marcus cleared his throat. "It does seem like she plans to fight them all." He said and Adolf laughed.
"It appears so." He said. "Then, shall we get going?"
"Wait," Mark called out and they turned to him. "I would like to go along with you."
A small silence followed before Alice opened her mouth and bluntly rejected his offer.
"You can’t."
