The Forgotten Slayer-Chapter 27: That time I fell to Hell and joined a rebellion
Chapter 27 - That time I fell to Hell and joined a rebellion
'What have I gotten myself into?'
Grabbing onto the finger, the large Minotaur lifted Clyde out of the crater. As soon as Clyde touched the ground, the creature let out a roar cry that sounded like nothing Clyde had ever heard before. It was low pitched and the sound was seemingly reversed.
It ran off into the thick trees, leaving Clyde alone.
'It really just spoke to me. Wait, it didn't even attack me.'
Questions were piling up, but there was no time. Several other large Minotaurs began to charge in the direction the first one went. One shouted at Clyde.
"Get a move on! We don't have all day."
As they ran past him, other creatures began to storm out. A long centipede that was three houses wide, then a black spider with eyes the size of Clyde. None of them even question him being here. The next creature did.
Coming up on Clyde, a red man the size of Clyde drew a sword. His face looked just like a regular human aside from his eyes. The color was especially unique, appearing like an eclipse. The biggest difference was two twisting horns on each side of his head.
"Whose domain are you in."
'Domain?'
"I'm not sure what you're talking about, but I am from the human realm."
The man's brow furrowed.
"I'm not that dumb! Answer me or die."
"I don't want to kill you, so don't make me. I'm trying to get back home, how do I escape."
"You can't be serious, a human has no business being here. You also picked a terrible time to visit, we are having a war."
"I didn't even know things beyond monster existed down here, now you're saying I popped into a battlefield."

"I don't have time to deal with you, but I can't leave you alone either in case you're an enemy. Come with me."
It's not like Clyde had any other choices right now so he obliged. Following the man's lead, the two transverse the forest in the direction of the creatures. Clyde's wasn't even sure if they could be considered a creature if they were capable of speech.
Running by the trees was a special sight. Compared to his realm, they were dark green and significantly larger.
'This is not at all what I envisioned being here. Now I'm in a warzone and I've already been drafted.'
Soon the sound of metal clashing and yelling was very loud. Clyde was also starting to see more people, or whatever you might call a person living down here. Now that he thought about it, what was this persons name.
"What's your name?"
The man looked back.
"I am Brick."
"Clyde."
Brick didn't seem interested in small talk, so Clyde continued to follow silently. The two reached an open field where Clyde saw the battle.
Sets of banners were raised on the side Clyde was on. It was carrying a design of a lake of fire with and arrow piercing it. Across the field was banners that had a skull with blue flaming eyes. Mortars were going off creating miniature explosions in random areas of the battlefield. The majority of fighting was face to face, with machinery taking a back seat.
Different affects of monsters and the human like beings were also prevalent. Occasionally Clyde saw flashes of light or saw spectral weapons flying around. There was fire going in different directions in addition to the ground moving around.
The most frightening thing was the shockwaves of the ferocious power in melee combat.
Brick stopped to look back at Clyde.
"I can't expect you to fight, but if you're capable I suggest you join me. The winner of the war will determine how easy it would be for you to escape. I could also assure you that joining our side is the right one."
'Well that doesn't mean much'
Clyde knew better than to trust words blindly, but perhaps in this realm honesty was still alive.
"I'll help you for now, but I don't plan on staying here."
"This is good, I have been given special orders to assasinate General Mobius. If you're competent enough, my plan will work flawlessly. For now just continue following me."
On a battlefield of the size, it would be difficult for an army to notice the two sneaking around the outskirts of the field. It was also helpful that they were small in comparison to their surroundings.
'Perhaps this is why they chose him.'
With the fight raging on, they managed to enter the back line of opposing forces. Every now and then, they needed to stop and hide from scouts.
Brick decided it was time to go over a game plan. The two hid behind a large tree as he discussed.
"Now that we are behind them, the first attack will be a surprise. If we get noticed before Mobius is dead, then we are probably gonna die instead. I saw him fighting near the middle of the field so that's where we will charge. We likely won't be attacked until we strike first since we are coming from the same time. Just look really angry and put on your best nuxan."
"What's a nuxan?"
The question annoyed brick, but he remembered who he was talking to.
"It's the people we're fighting against. Now let's go— if he dies, then the battle will be over swiftly."
Setting off into the battlefield, Clyde had doubts.
'I just realized—what does the General even look like?'
It was too late to ask questions anyway. By now they were in striking distance of the enemy forces. Just then, Clyde watched several large Minotaur bodies being flung into the air.
Brick looked back and pointed in the direction of the mayhem.
'Great.'
This close to the fight, Clyde had already dodged several attacks thrown in his direction. He was positive that none of them were intentional, but that's just how messy a fight like this was.
There was a break in the line of soldiers, creating a small opening. Standing alone, facing five different types of beast, was the General. He had two sets of arms, each one holding a different weapon. The top two had long swords equipped, while the bottom two had spears.
The General was slightly smaller than a large Minotaur, but that was still a massive creature in comparison to Clyde. For apparel, he only had a loin cloth on. Showcasing a body that was war torn, full of scars.
'He is really strong.'
General Mobius started to spin with his weapons stretched out. His form of combat was messy and not something a friendly would want to be near.
'That's why he's alone.'
This would be a tough fight, but Clyde was ready. Looking over at Brick, he realize that Brick had already charged ahead.
Clyde followed behind with a noticeable difference between them.
Brick was already in position to strike the General, but Clyde had doubts at this point that he could kill him in one blow. He wanted to signal to Brick to wait. Before he could, Brick made a move.
Clyde watched as Brick effortlessly jumped into the air, coming level with the General's head. Before he could do anything else, the General noticed him. The left set of hands crushed the enemies directly in front of him, sending them flying backward. With distance between him and the army, he turned to look at brick who was next to his head.
Taking a step toward Brick, he opened his mouth and swallowed him. By that point he noticed Clyde standing a distance below him. Clyde stuck out because the General knew that none of his men would be in range of his fighting.
Looking down at Clyde, the General spoke in a loud voice, one worthy of a commander.
"Come!"
