The Gentle Maiden and Five Lustful Brothers-Chapter 119: Vampire politics
Chapter 119: Vampire politics
Things didn’t go well for Violet; she was struggling to sleep. And as a consequence, so was Ash.
They’d spent the rest of the night packing in a necessary silence. Ash was reeling how to approach the subject with Violet being so unstable right now. Violet was struggling to wrap her mind around what she learned, what it all could mean.
Silence was the only thing both could offer the other. Silence to process, silence to think, silence to breath. The weight of Arya’s words felt heavy, casting a shadow on the happy couple. They both tossed and turned all day waiting for the sun’s rays to rest for the day for them to leave for their flight. It would be Violet’s first flight, just to add the icing on the anxiety cake.
Ash thought about how if they never asked Arya to do this, then none of this would be happening.
Violet of course could hear his loud thoughts, "Ash, the prophecy would happen whether we heard it not, it’s better we heard it so we can plan for it."
"You’re right, Violet." Ash concluded. "Let’s focus on the coronation, after that we can deal with the details of the prophecy."
Everything faded into the background once the family boarded the plane.
This would be Rosa’s first time on a plane leaving America. Night citizens didn’t need human passports to travel, they had their own system for keeping track of travel. Royals weren’t privy to the same rules everyone else was, they had their own set of rules and expectation.
The brothers took the time to give Violet a crash course in vampire politics. He tried to include Rosa, but she was looking a little greener than her usual bronzed tan right now, and thought it best to not have her ruin the planes upholstery
Gabriel went first; he was the most acquainted with vampire politics. "Violet, understand one thing. Vampires will smell weakness and exploit it, so be on your guard."
Violet quickly responded with something unexpected "I have mind control Gabriel if they’re mean to me, I can just compel them to be nice."
Somehow it was the unviolet, yet so Violet thing to say. Her own words stunned her. she quickly cupped her mouth with both hands.
Ash watched his queen, her face heated up with embarrassment, and when he looked to his brothers, they stared at her with bewilderment. Seeing their frozen faces pushed Ash into a fit of laughter he couldn’t hold in.
Somehow, he knew those were words his daughter had said more than Violet. Because of Violet’s ability the two could almost communicate with each other, maybe even speak through each other. Violet’s pregnancy was already strange and unique, so anything new stopped surprising him the day his daughter threw everyone off her mother, while she was practically unconscious.
"My, my, Violet, when did we get so rrraarrr" Oliver joked mimicking a cat scratch.
"I don’t know where it came from, it just came into my mind and forced its way out before I could even process it." Violet confessed her own shock.
Ash interjected "That, my dear, was our sweet daughter, I think."
Oliver snorted, "Sweet, sounds like she takes after you with that attitude."
"Shut it Oliver, before Ash kicks your ass and throws you off the plane." Jeremy rolled his eyes like he was stating the obvious to an idiot.
Ash chuckled, Violet grunted with a pout, and Gabriel just looked annoyed.
"All of you are children, grow up you three, Violet here seems to be the most stable one of us, and she’s pregnant with Ash’s spawn. Get it together." Gabriel groaned with an annoyance that matched his expression.
Jeremy walked away from them and over to where Rosa was resting with headphones in her ear blasting music. Sitting next to her he leaned back, putting his head in her lap, and stuck his nose back in his book. Rosa, startled, yelp lightly, but she quickly relaxed and subconsciously started running her hands through his gorgeous blonde hair. Getting lost in the music and the feel of his soft hair intertwined in her fingers. It helped soothe her nerves tethering her to the plane, her stomach had been upside down since they lifted off. She chose to sit away from the others and closer to the bathroom. fɾeewebnoveℓ.co๓
Rosa looked at her new family... the word family hit her like smack to the chest. They were her family now. She had two families that loved her.
She didn’t need a shitty father. In fact, now, even as a halfblood, her status was hire, she was dating a pureblood prince, and her best friend was the queen. His Queen. The thought excited her even. Let the dead beat come, let him see how high she sits now, without him.
She hummed with the different ideas for possible situations that could happen. At least the good ones.
Looking back over she saw Oliver playing games on his phone, Ash doing something on his phone. And Violet she could see the intense look in her eyes as she listened Gabriel speak.
Violet doing exactly that, she listened to every word Gabriel had to say. Taking in and digesting everything he explained.
"Well, compel, if necessary, honestly that’s a pretty good idea for showing your strength." He rubbed his chin. "Actually, do that anyways. You don’t have to make them do anything bad, you can just..."
Oliver poked his head jumping in, "Have them dance like a chicken. Being humiliated is worse than being punched to a Vampire. We live a long time, so we remember some pretty embarrassing things when they happen, eternity can get dull, you know."
"I second that idea, if someone bullies you or tries to intimidate you, I want you to say your command loudly, don’t just force it into their minds. Keep that part a secret, our wild card. But let them see your merciful, but powerful." Ash added.
"I agree, Violet, this sends the right message to our people about your ability to lead. It also shows you have a sense a humor, which I’m sure most of them lack in their old boring mundane lives." Gabriel mocked.
"I don’t know about that you guys... I don’t know, I just, I don’t usually act like that. I don’t know if I could." Violet responded timidly, not feeling very confident in herself.
"I think our little princess will make the choice for you, like she has been. Little miss fire in there, she’s ready to burn the world down." Oliver joked.
But Violet and Ash stilled. They remembered the prophecy "Break the chain or be the bind" and for some reason the idea of the world burning sent shivers down their spine. "Hell beneath the stars shall shake." they didn’t sound related, but for some reason they felt related.
"Woah, what was that about? Why do your faces look like that. Violet, you look as pale as Ash and he’s two shades paler than usual." Oliver sat up straighter.
"Don’t ask, we’ll talk about it later once the coronation is done." Ash answered for both him and Violet. He knew he had to take over the convo because Violet was lost in her overthinking windmill.
"Oookayyy, whatever." Oliver turned away, he felt a little hurt he was being left out but had no choice but to really respect the space they were asking for. Though Oliver didn’t understand why they needed it, he still gave it to them.
"Let’s focus, Violet, another thing you need to be aware of is that none of them are allowed to look you in the eyes, it’s a sign of disrespect when it’s done by someone you’re familiar well enough with, some might try and show you defiance. Smother it before a fire can burn."
"How do you suggest I do that?" Violet asked worriedly.
"Tell them to look down and then compel them. This is your greatest asset right now. Your telepathy is unmatched and unrivaled, and you’ve only barely scratched the surface of your abilities."
Violet interrupted him "But that’s not me, that’s not who I am."
"Babe, it’s who you have to be while you’re in front of all of vampire society. You have to show the strength you have to offer them. It’s part of being their queen, you respect this way of life when you have to, it keeps the balance in check. Vampires are old and bored and enjoy causing trouble amongst us when they can especially if they benefit from it." Ash interjected.
"Okay, okay, fine... But only if I have too, okay? I don’t like it." Violet complained.
"That’a girl, get some rest before we land, you’ll have a full day book after we settle in." Ash scooped her up bridal style and looked at Gabriel "I’m taking her to nap, she needs the rest if we are going to raise a strong princess."
"Fine, go. We can handle any other problems that could arise, and she already knows formal etiquette for dinning and interactions on a basic level." Gabriel didn’t argue he just turned his chair around and hit the bar asking for a Rum and Coke.
