Chapter 77: she’s missing

Violet, Ash, Oliver and now Midna found their way into the warmest puddle and slept peacefully through the day.

The sun was close to setting when a banging on the door disturbed them.

"Get up, hang overs are no excuse to miss school." Jeremy said from the other side.

Ash and Oliver groaned in unison. Not wanting to spoil this perfect moment between them. They rose from her bed waking her. The kitten paid no mind to them and just repositioned herself on the pillow next to Violet’s head.

Violet, though, wasted no time in getting up. She was excited to great the day, excited to finally have an answer or prepare again for another wonderful assault on her senses on the night of the next Full Moon.

Ash and Oliver raised an eyebrow seeing Violet so full of energy so early in the evening.

"What are you excited about?" Ash asked curiously.

"I’ll find out if I’m pregnant today!" Violet answered with excitement.

The temperature in the room dropped with Ash’s mood. Today he’d find out if he’d have to kill his brothers to keep her, or that she was his, or that he would have to keep sharing her for another month.

Violet instantly knew when Ash’s mood dropped. Not because of her new ability, but because it was like his energy had thickened it felt like she was almost choking from it. Moving quickly toward him, she placed a hand on him to help reassure him things would work out.

Ash felt immediate relief when she placed her hand on his shoulder. The energy in the room thinned, making it breathable again.

"Thanks, now let’s go, let’s get this night over with." Ash scoffed. He wasn’t as angry as he was seconds ago, but he was still bothered. And he was really bothered about what happened last night. What was up with that stone and Ash could only hope that Jeremy was able to figure something out about that stone.

Violet was able to get ready alone in her room, safely, for the first time since her arrival. Riley was gone from here and she’d never have to worry about him again. He would get everything he deserved and more.

Violet readied herself for her day. While Ash and Oliver went to check with Jeremy and their Uncle Hyde to see if they uncovered the secret with the gem.

"What do you mean it’s just a useless moonstone. There’s no way in hell they’d just give us one of their ’sacred’ rocks." Ash angrily yelled.

"He’s right, this is fishy and none of it makes sense." Oliver remarked.

"I know, and I agree, but there’s no active magic in this stone, there’s no poison or anything on the surface of the stone. It’s only a stone." Jeremy confirmed his findings with them again.

"There’s more to this and I can feel it." Ash claimed.

"We’ll figure it out don’t worry." Oliver said patting Ash’s shoulder.

Ash shrugged Oliver’s hand off. He wasn’t interested in false sentiments. "Just figure it out."

Ash had this aura of dread he left lingering in his wake. He was really on edge about those stupid dogs and that damn stone.

Ash barely puts his uniform together today, he looks almost sluggish with his appearance. Violet though looks as beautiful as ever in her uniform.

"Why do you look so lazy today?" Violet questioned.

"Because yesterday someone exhausted me." Ash leaned down and whispered in her ear before gently kissing her cheek.

Violet blushed at Ash’s sweet gesture. She loved the new more affection version of Ash. It only made her love him more. Seeing his growth and his subtle changes.

Oliver and Jeremy joined them downstairs and they left for school. Waiting for Viktor and Viktoria, Oliver teased Jeremy for how much time he spent with Rosa considering he spent the majority of the party next to her.

"You followed her around like a shadow all night, just admit it, you like her." Oliver teased.

"Shut up, Oliver, you don’t know what you’re talking about." Jeremy remained collected but a hint of frustration rested between his brows.

Violet giggled quietly watching Jeremy’s shield crack.

"Jeremy and Rosa sitting in a tree K-I-S-S-I-N..." Oliver jokingly sand when Jeremy punched him in the mouth.

"Don’t finish that sentence if you value your life." Jeremy grumbled.

Oliver simply laughed loudly. Violet thought he seemed almost as crazy as his brother Riley in that moment.

The thought of him made Violet shiver. Violet hadn’t seen Riley since the episode at the party.

She didn’t care where he was as long as it wasn’t here, with her.

Ash seemed to notice the anxious expression Violet’s faced changed to, so he pulled her close to him tucking her in under his arms.

"You okay?" He asked her quietly.

Violet shook her head and said "Yes" in her gentle voice. Ash always felt a sense of ease anytime Violet was near, so the last thing Ash wants is for his sweet Violet to be upset.

"Then what’s with the sour face?" Ash teased.

Violet hadn’t even realized her face had subtitles, and it made her laugh. He doesn’t need an ability to see right through her.

Suddenly Viktor and Viktoria joined them.

"Are you guys ready?" Asked Viktoria.

"Finally." Jeremy said pushing past Oliver, clearly annoyed with his brothers.

The six of them pile into the car and head for school. Violet was anxiously waiting to see her friends. Anxiously waiting to see the priestess tonight after her classes.

Violet and Viktoria talked the whole way to school while the boys sat watching the two girls speak. Ash couldn’t believe how close the two girls had gotten over the 3 days, since they started their friendship. Ash was always in awe of her ability to be so forgiving. He still felt aggrieved, he hadn’t forgiven her for her part in Riley’s assault. Viktoria knew Ash wasn’t cool with her yet and was only barely tolerating her presence close to Violet, because Violet liked her and wanted it. Ash always gave Violet what she wanted.

Arriving at school, and rushing to class, Oliver and Violet branched off. Making it into class just in time to beat the bell.

Professor Luhta-Elen was a no-nonsense professor. Sliding into their seats next to Arya and Roland.

Both Oliver and Violet noticed they were missing one person at their table.

Where was Ursula?
