The Gentle Maiden and Five Lustful Brothers-Chapter 83: The Alpha King, Ursula’s side story

The minute Ursula saw Beta Atlas enter the room all the color had drained from Ursula’s face.

His arrival here only meant one thing; the Alpha King has arrived. And as the beta’s betrothed, and the stepdaughter to the CrystalBay pack’s Alpha’s uncle, her presence was expected.

Ursula hated Atlas. Atlas was cruel and a master of puppets, he loved treating Ursula as his personal puppet. When he had first started his games with her, she rebelled and fought back, but he grew tired of her refusal quickly and for punishment he started to inject her with wolfsbane, something that suppresses the wolf of a werewolf. And shifters were nothing without their animal. For her first few weeks here, every time she disobeyed him, she was given an injection.

This could only happen so many times before it would break any wolf’s spirit.

After presenting Violet with a stone, Beta Atlas requested for Ursula. For a moment she hesitated looking for an escape route. But she knew what followed after she would inevitably be caught by him.

Ursula took a deep breath and braced herself for what was to come.

Collecting herself and hiding her fears deep within, she made her way through the crowd. Her head held high as she pretended to be a strong confident wolf.

When she looked at Atlas’ face, she could see the fakeness in his smile. They couldn’t, but she knew that sick sadistic smile anywhere. It haunted her nightmares.

As they walk away, he leans into her ear and whispers in a low, sinister voice. His warm breath sent shivers down her spine. "What took you so long, my Poppet?"

Her body stiffened, but she kept walking, she kept her chin high and her eyes forward.

He broke her a long time ago, but since meeting Violet, slowly it felt like her pieces were being put back together.

Violet made her feel real and noticed. You could even say safe.

They reach the Cadillac SUV and headed out.

She kept her body still and her face expressionless. If she let Atlas know that she wasn’t as broken as he thought, he’d start the torture all over again, and Ursula didn’t know if she could survive one of his "sessions" again.

"Remember Little Poppet, you are to be on your best behavior, show them the strength in our CrystalBay Pack. We can’t afford to show any weakness."

His warning was laced with an ominous threat. She knew he was serious, and she knew the consequences of failing.

"I understand Beta Atlas, I will be what is expected of me." Her words deliberate and her tone cold. She kept a distant expression on her face."

"Good, the Alpha King has his whole family with him, including the crown prince. They will be staying with us for a few weeks as tradition dictates." Atlas was making things as clear and he needed no explanation for her.

The rest of the drive remind silent. Pulling up to the manor the two step out, and that’s when she notice her future sister in law wasn’t among the passengers in the second vehicle.

"Where’s Esmerelda?" Ursula was a little worried, the girl was quiet and always kept a distance from everyone, so she was surprised when Esmerelda asked to attend. If she didn’t know that Esmerelda had no interest in pack politics or drama.

"She came back early, the party was too much for her. she will probably remain in her room for a while, let her be. Alpha Micheal will handle it." Atlas’ answer was brief, and Ursula knew not to push much further.

The manor was buzzing with activity. Increased security and staff. People were unloading trunks and bags. The smell of beef filled the halls, the kitchen was preparing for a large dinner.

Suddenly running through the foyer was a boy with midnight black hair and sunshine golden eyes. He had an effortless smile and radiated a sense of innocence she hasn’t seen in a long time. He was speeding, being chased by a small brown wolf, ’is that Derek?’ she questioned.

Derek was the son of an Omega. One who often visited Alpha Micheal.

Stumbling into her, she catches him before he falls. "Woah there, be careful in here, these floors are slippery."

Ursula started laughing just as Derek pounced on the two of them, Derek licking the boy profoundly.

"Ambrose, Derek, get up off the floor." Said a woman with match black hair. The woman walked up with impeccable grace, it was almost like she floated across the floor. The woman had an aura or royalty about her.

"Sorry, mother." The young boy stood up dusting himself off and repositioning his clothing.

"Don’t embarrass your father, or you and I both know you won’t hear the end of it. Alpha Micheal is your father’s uncle. You should go and find Amos, it’s been awhile since you both have seen each other."

"Yes mother." Young Ambrose answered his mother.

He turned to Ursula then and apologized politely for stumbling into her. Afterwards, Ambrose and Derek ran off in search of Amos.

The woman looked to Ursula and introduced herself, "Hello, dear, I am Luna Selene, that’s my son, Prince Ambrose. Sorry about him, he’s quite the free spirit."

Luna Selene, the queen of Luna’s. the Alpha King’s wife and mate.

Ursula giggled some and reassured her, "It’s okay, kids will be kids, ya know?"

Ursula was surprised by the Luna Queen was so down to earth and humble. Nothing like what you’d expect from a royal. She was nothing like what Ursula expected.

Beta Atlas had long disappeared. She assumed it was to meet with Alpha Micheal and the Alpha King.

"Would you join me for a walk outside in the gardens?" Luna Selene asked me.

"It would be an honor." Ursula answered bowing her head.

The Ursula leads Luna Selene to the veranda and out to the garden, once they were alone Luna Selene said quietly, "I don’t know how I know this, but I can trust you. Can’t I?"

Ursula looked wide eyed at the Luna Queen; she couldn’t believe that queen said she was trustworthy.

"I like to think I am." Ursula answered carefully.

"Good, listen child, something is happening, and I don’t think it’s anything good. I need a spy." She whispered.

Ursula was stunned, her mouth dropped slightly in shock. Did her Luna really ask her to be a spy for her?
