The Gentleman at the End-Chapter 619 - 617: Elevator Encounter
Chapter 619: Chapter 617: Elevator Encounter
Looking at the huge sum of money in front of him, the debts owed to the Duke’s Chamber of Commerce finally had a resolution, and there might even be a chance to use the extra money to pick up some nice things from the Duke himself.
Having confirmed the colossal amount stored in the treasury, William turned his head to look at the various treasures within the Greed Treasure Vault.
The most conspicuous among them was undoubtedly Greed’s most commonly used and favored weapon, the "Cross Sword," which looked very much like the crucifixes often seen in Yi Chen’s former world.
Imbued with the Blood Plague for thousands of years, it had been forcibly transformed into Greed’s exclusive weapon.
With Greed’s death, the cross sword tagged with the treasury label was automatically retracted and stored in the glass showcase at the center of the vault.
When William tried to pick up the three-meter-long great cross sword...as soon as he grasped the hilt, whoosh! Blood-colored spikes pierced through the back of his hand, clearly rejecting him.
That was quite normal, as the Blood Cross Sword had been tamed by Greed over many years and only recognized his blood. Even the other Seven Marquis couldn’t use it properly.
William, with a try-it-and-see attitude, ignored the piercing in his palm and continued holding it in his hand.
"Use Madness Brain to see if it can tame the blood components within the sword body. If not, directly soak it in black liquid," he thought.
As the Madness Brain generated a directed pulse to cover the sword body, attempting to forcibly control the blood within,
hum~ a segment of memory stored within the sword was accidentally absorbed.
"Angels..."
William, combining the memory images of those human-like beings with wings of light soaring above the clouds with the memories from Yi Chen’s previous life, uttered such a term.
And this cross-shaped great sword came from a certain Angel Leader,
who had led a contingent of the Angel Army in the wars of the Old World, slaying numerous patients along the way, only to be stealthily ambushed by Greed.
Yet even so, Greed had exhausted a vast amount of treasures from the vault to kill him.
At this moment, Yi Chen’s voice came from within William’s mind: "Oh~ It seems even mythical beings like angels were involved in the war. The coalition invading the Old World was indeed interesting."
"Yi Chen, do you know something?" William asked.
"Certainly, a bit~ But, these matters will become clear once you return to the world of my time. It’s not very conducive to just hear of them from me, and even I don’t fully understand the situation there.
After all, I’ve always been restrained, whether I was inside Orphanage or outside. My perception of the world has always been limited by the special groups and organizations around me.
It wasn’t until I was forced to transcend and ended up within you."
"Once you’ve dealt with the immediate matters and made preparations, try to find a method for ’World Transfer’."
"Hmm."
"This sword isn’t suited for you... Take it to give away or sell it.
Such equipment that belongs to angels often possesses holy and just attributes. The forced Blood Plague soak has already caused structural damage to the sword, and if you try to forcibly change it even further or soak it in Death Liquid, you’ll end up with nothing but scrap metal."
"Understood."
William, possessing little in the way of blood attributes or talents, put the cross sword back in its place after realizing he couldn’t wield it and turned his attention to other treasures.
He quickly found the Monastery Iron Chains that Greed had used in his final moments.
"This iron chain should just be ’ordinary’; it doesn’t compare to the ’Thorny Iron Chains’ used for torturing prisoners in my body... but, it should be useful to me."
When William reached out to touch it, the Thorny Iron Chains inside him immediately sprang to life, swiftly wrapping around and extracting the essence of pain from the ordinary chain.
In less than a minute, the chain stored in the vault had turned into scrap metal.
The Thorny Iron Chains within William were fully activated by absorbing the chain’s essence, and numerous thorns evenly surfaced on his skin, displaying a ’Pain’ posture; even his gentleman’s clothes automatically adapted to this torture, transforming into a fitted and pitch-black bodysuit.
If Asimov saw this posture, he might have some strange thoughts about William.
"Hmm? Iron chains can actually absorb each other... Or is it just the Thorny Iron Chains on me that can do it? After all, the Thorny Iron Chains merged with Plant Disease when they were integrated into my body and were later influenced by the umbilical cord and the ’Life’ attribute.
If it’s something only I can do, it might be quite interesting whenever I go to the Monastery in the future."
William checked the inventory of the treasure vault, nodding to himself from time to time, "I didn’t expect Greed to have such good taste and high standards. The items here are basically top-notch... even if they’re not for me, they could be useful for the students in the future."
William could hardly wait to go to the Duke’s place to both settle his debts and have the chamber of commerce help appraise the total value of the vault.
Standing back at the entrance, he surveyed the Greed Treasure Vault before him.
"Not to mention the things stored inside, just the value of the vault itself is very high. Carrying such a storage space with me would make many things much more convenient."
William brought his suitcase in with him, always accessible, so there was no need to worry about it getting damaged in the fight.
Buzz!
He left the treasure vault behind and returned to the hospital.
William looked at the ring on his finger and ultimately decided to take it off and put it into his coat pocket.
"Let’s go see Jin... Her serious injuries are also due to the last instruction I gave."
When William walked out of his room with an apology, everyone on the floor, be they doctors or apprentices, stopped in their tracks, staring at him in silence with wide eyes.
Until one of them called out his name, "Mr. William."
The name spread quickly, and even some of the gentlemen who were hospitalized mustered their strength to leave their rooms, wanting to catch a glimpse of this true gentleman, the prodigy who was so young yet capable of slaying the ’Seven Marquis’.
"Mr. William, thank you for all you’ve done for the organization."
"Mr. William, this is a gift I prepared in advance, would you accept it?"
"Could I get your autograph, Mr. William? It would be best on the stomach, or the buttocks if that’s not possible."
The floor quickly became packed, making it difficult for William to move an inch.
Until a sharp, bone-chilling sound came from the elevator, "Don’t bother William, let him through."
Upon hearing this, the crowd made way for a path leading to the elevator.
Dr. Asimov, his mouth and nose hidden by a circular collar, was standing by the elevator, and William took this opportunity to quickly approach and join him in the elevator, heading to the top floor’s Intensive Care Unit.
Before William could even ask, Asimov spoke first:
"The Cancer Palace is known as the primary Great Yuan Epidemic Area because every Honored Tumor Knight is like an unkillable cockroach that can perfectly heal from any wound after some time.
Your friend is the same, so there’s no need to worry."
"Thank you, Dr. Asimov."
"You must have killed Greed by chance, right? Well done, I had thought the organization was doomed this time, but I didn’t expect such success. When I return, I’ll have the Monastery reassess the importance of the organization.
Besides, that’s also the main reason I’ve come to you.
I can feel the chains inside you are unusually active. Have you ever thought about taking a trip to the Monastery with me? Now that you’ve been removed from the wanted list, going with me would just be a simple visit."
William chuckled to himself, knowing full well what ’visiting’ entailed.
As the largest prison in the Old World and the most secure area, it was not possible to simply visit on a whim.
Just as William was about to make an excuse to decline, ding-dong! The elevator stopped. It wasn’t the top floor... someone in the middle floors had pressed the elevator button.
A ’corpse’ walked in.
This corpse had its eyes covered with a black cloth, and its pale hands dangled slightly in front of it, standing precisely between William and Asimov,
A dangerous aura began to permeate the cramped elevator space.
"Teacher..." William softly called out the long-absent title.
But the ’corpse’ made no response, slowly raising its right fist clenched.
William, sweating profusely, started to summon the star power within him, preparing to forcibly transport his teacher away... If the hospital was destroyed, many gentlemen, including Jin, would suffer secondary injuries.
The fist swung out, lightly touching Asimov’s arm.
"Long time no see, Asimov."
"Almost twenty years, isn’t it, Captain Zede?"
"So, you’ve decided to stay at the Monastery after all? Seems like you’re doing quite well."
"What else could I do? I couldn’t escape by force like you... Once I accepted the chains and the Monastery’s rules from deep within my consciousness, life felt pretty good."
"Shall we have a meal together later?"
"Sure, as long as I get back tomorrow."
This casual and ordinary conversation left William stunned on the side,
