THE GOD EATER-Chapter 126: Haggling Master.
When he got to the central market, he went straight to the gambling houses run by the Viking Blade society. He went there to gamble the 800,000.
Since the money wasn’t his and he could get it back again, he gambled it away without a care. He only made 8 bets, each worth 100,000 energy stones.
As expected, he began to lose right from the start. But the unexpected happened, and he got lucky on the seventh bet.
The seventh bet was for a gamble of 5 odds, so he won 500,000 energy stones in his seventh bet. This put his remaining money at 600,000 energy stones.
He saw that he was lucky, so he decided to go all in and bet the whole 600,000 energy stones. He said that he didn’t care if he won or lost, but his heart was pounding in his chest as he watched the two men in the fighting ring duke it out.
When the winner of the fight was announced, he jumped up and cheered. He shouted at the top of his lungs, saying, "I am the god of luck."
Then he quickly went to retrieve his earnings.
His bet was for 6 odds, so he got 3.6 million energy stones for betting correctly. This isn’t the largest amount of money he has ever earned, but it is still a lot.
He called himself the god of luck, but he decided not to tempt fate and stopped gambling. Nothing the managers could say to encourage him to keep gambling could keep him in the gambling house.
He ran away with the money to buy the things that he needed to increase his strength. These things include the raw materials to raise the strength of his Life Ability, rank 4 Metacs to fight with, and three rank 3 Cloudy Dates to raise the energy density of the fifth chamber from the early stage of rank 3 to the peak stage.
He also got Titanium Body to refine his body to rank 4, the materials that he needed for the refinement, and two more types of consumables to raise the power of his soul and mind to rank 3.
Finally, he went to buy information. Specifically, he wanted to buy the cultivation information about how to advance to rank 4.
In order to get this information, he looked around for an information broker. When he found the shop, he acted nonchalantly as he entered it. He didn’t behave like someone who was about to buy something that he should know.
The interior of the shop was dark, and it was very difficult to see the faces of the people in it. He could only barely tell that there was someone standing in front of him.
He could also barely tell that there were many small booths inside the shop. This was enough to tell him where to go for what he wanted.
He walked deep into the shop and picked a booth at the far end of it. Then he entered the small booth and closed the door behind him.
After locking the door, he looked around and said, "What a small place."
The person on the other side said in a plain androgynous voice, "We don’t need much space for what we do here."
He nodded in agreement and said, "That’s true."
The voice from the other side of the booth asked him, saying, "What do you want to know?"
He was sitting in a small enclosed booth similar to the confessionals of his last life. The attendant was sitting on the other side, and there was a screen between them that blocked sight. There was only a small tunnel that linked both sides of the booth through which money and information could be exchanged.
This was what he saw as he looked around and said in reply, "I want to know how to advance to rank 4."
That androgynous voice said, "That will be 100,000 energy stones."
This exorbitant price made him exclaim, saying, "What? 100,000 energy stones for something that you can sell again and again without diminishing in value?"
"Why do you need so much money? I’m sure it is not for renting this place. Not for a space and a booth this small."
The voice replied impassively, "That’s the price."
But Loki refused to accept it. He frowned and said, "I can only pay 50,000 energy stones."
The voice said, "Then leave."
He didn’t want to leave, so he raised the price. "How about 60,000?"
The voice replied curtly, "No."
"70,000?"
"100,000."
Loki backed down wn again and said, "80,000."
The reply was a short, "No."
So he slammed down his fist and said, "90,000. That’s my last price."
Unfortunately for him, the person on the other side wasn’t intimidated. They said, "What a shame? It seems I will lose you as a customer."
Loki’s eyes twitched when he heard this. He wanted to leave just to teach this person a lesson, but he thought that it wasn’t worth it. So he gritted his teeth as he pulled out the cupboard, placed a Money Metac into it, and closed the cupboard.
On the other side, the attendant pulled the cupboard out and took the Money Metac inside it. After checking it and making sure that there were 100,000 energy stones in the Money Metac, the person said, "It is my great luck to meet someone as generous as you."
In response, Loki snorted and said, "Just give me what I paid for."
The androgynous voice said, "Right away, honored customer."
Then they began to rummage through the shelves behind them.
Meanwhile, Loki grumbled to himself and said, "I bet Slav doesn’t need to buy something like this."
When he thought of this, he could only sigh and say, "Only lowly people like us without a background have to pay for something others get for free."
As he grumbled and complained, the package containing the information he paid for was dropped into the cupboard.
