THE GOD EATER-Chapter 169: Bad Or Good Luck.
But Greg did give Loki a weird look as he thought to himself with amusement, "What a lucky guy. He hates me for some reason and didn’t want to be assigned to me. His hatred was so high that he refused to take the same vehicle with me. His hatred made him do something stupid, yet it is the reason why he is the only one who survived."
"I was definitely wrong to say that he would be the first one to die. If he is truly a blessed person with immense luck, he might survive this battlefield and go on to become someone great."
At first, he was amused. But the more he thought of the fact that Loki was lucky to survive just because of hatred, he couldn’t help but start to have some suspicions.
As he thought of his suspicions, he said to himself, "If he is this lucky, was he also lucky when he created his Life Ability and advanced to rank 3?"
"If he is that lucky, then I might have a problem with him. It seems I have to test him one of these days to see what his Life Ability is."
His face became grim as he thought to himself with determination, "Rank 5 beings can’t enter this small world, but it will still be extremely problematic if the attention of a rank 5 forger is attracted here. So I have to kill him if his Life Ability is truly mutated."
The chances of mutation during advancement to rank 3 are very low. Only a lucky few can achieve mutation in their Life Abilities, which is why he has begun to suspect someone as lucky as Loki.
But it is only a suspicion for now, and even though he very much wants to confirm his suspicions as soon as possible, he is still level-headed enough to know that he can expose such a thing in front of so many people.
It is his motto to keep things related to Life Abilities as secretive as possible. So he decided to be patient regarding his suspicions concerning Loki’s Life Ability and not to try to expose it in front of everyone.
Once he can safely check whether Loki is a problem or not, he will do so. At that point, it will become uncertain if Loki has immense good luck or abysmal bad luck. After all, if Loki is lucky enough to possess a mutated Life Ability, only death awaits him, not glory.
On the other side, Loki was finally happy that he had crossed this hurdle. His happiness surged even further because the bets that he had made on the gambling platform had worked out, and he had tripled the remaining amount of money that he had in his hand from 8 million to 24 million.
He hadn’t survived this long before, so he lost the advantage of time and couldn’t make anymore successful bets. So he decided to keep watching the gambling platform and stock market for anything interesting while he spends the money in his hands to increase his strength.
In order to increase his strength, he ordered 10 kilograms of Living Metal and one rank 5 Crystal Worm. These two are to increase the power of his Life Ability and to raise his talent. They are two of the things that he can take back into the past with him, so they are very important.
Each kilogram of Living Metac costs 800 thousand energy stones. So ten kilograms cost 8 million energy stones. Plus the 1.1 million energy stones that he spent on the rank 5 Crystal Worm, the two orders cost him 9.1 million energy stones.
This would be too much for him to spend all at once if he were using the trading platform for the first time and hadn’t yet confirmed that the two vendors he was buying from were reliable.
However, even though he trusted the seller of the Living Metal material, he still spent all of his money to buy Living Metal. He wanted to wait and see if the order would arrive on the battlefield and if his Life Ability would truly be able to easily absorb it before he buys more Living Metal to raise it to rank 5.
All in all, these developments made him happy. They also filled him with anticipation for the future. He couldn’t wait to get the things he ordered, use them to increase his strength, and then use them to earn more merit points.
These plans for the future and the fact that he just avoided being killed by Greg put a smile on his face as he was led through the city. He was in such a good mood that he was able to spare some attention to admire the city and his surroundings.
What he saw made him say, "This place looks nice enough. It looks like an ordinary city. If I didn’t know that we were in a small world, I would believe that this was an ordinary city, not a battlefield."
But as he continued to watch, he saw something odd. This odd thing made him chuckle and say, "So this city looks like Crystal City. If I didn’t know better, I would think that the person with OCD who designed the identical sect grounds is the same one who designed this city."
As he watched, he noticed that the layout of this city was the same as that of Crystal City, which he just left. It made him remember the person he believed had OCD for designing two sect grounds to look the same way.
As he thought of this, he asked his guard, "Who designed the city? Or is the arrangement of the City at random?"
The person leading the way is also a rank 3 cultivator like him. The man is a veteran, though. He has been serving on Earthly Battlefield E6-137 for over a year now. Even his age is no longer young.
