The Golem Mage-Chapter 437: War Of Sweden City (5).
"Agnes would not be able to hold down those Tier 3 Ghouls for long, Pale, I would leave this matter for you; I am sure you would be able to deal with it, i don’t need you to try killing the Ghouls; your only job is to restrain them until Agnes and her group are able to complete the mission I have given to them," Alec said after a brief thought.
He knew that with Lucas entangled with the Tier 4 Ghoul, he definitely wouldn’t be able to get out of that trouble anytime soon, and he needed someone to help Agnes and the rest out.

Alec was hesitant to release Beatrice now, as he had gone through all the details of the mages that survived the mission phases, so he knew she had two Tier 4 puppets at her disposal.
He felt she was more valuable than Pale and could be deployed for emergencies, not small duties like this.
When Pale heard Alec’s orders, he snorted, feeling that Alec was still underestimating him.
He kicked his horse at the side, leading it towards the location where Agnes and the rest of Lucas’ commander team had stopped and were surrounded by the Ghouls, like prey waiting to be devoured.
They all had their backs facing each other as the Ghouls drooled and stared them down.
"Are you sure this will work?" Katie asked.
"Just follow the script, and we’ll be fine, even if we can’t hold them for long, someone who can deal with them should be arriving soon," Agnes explained to Kate when the Ghouls suddenly dashed towards them.
Instead of confronting them head-on, Agnes cast a spell that shot out a small pillar of earth from the ground at their locations, pushing them outside the circle the Ghouls had created.
As the Ghouls were now being encircled by Lucas’s team, without wasting any more time, Agnes lightly tapped her staff on the ground, causing runes to materialize.
The remaining nine members of the team all sent their mana into the ground from their respective directions, and runes from their sides started to form and run fast until all the angles of the runes finally clicked and joined together.
The Ghouls who tried to escape were met with either a blast from a huge fireball or a punch from a massive hand of earth when they reached the edge of the runes, sending them back to the middle of the rune array.
"Bind!" Agnes commanded as hands larger than before appeared, with the intention of restraining the Tier 3 Ghouls.
The first time they attempted this, there were only five of them, but now there were about ten, meaning they had the mana of over ten mages contributing to the trapping rune array, this was the reason for the big changes and increased power.
Alec had discussed with Agnes about modifications that could be made to the rune array, and being a genius with these things, she had been able to modify the initial array to not only accommodate more mages, but also enable them to use elemental spells from any of the mages in the circle with them.
This explained the fireballs, as Katie had an affinity for fire element.
"We won’t be able to hold on much longer, I thought you mentioned that Alec would be sending someone here to assist us, why isn’t anyone here yet?"
Kate questioned, finally feeling the strain, Despite there being ten of them against the ten Ghouls, their realms were unable to match the realms of the Ghouls.
They were all Tier 3 beings, and as time passed, they gained the upper hand, breaking free from the earth’s grasp more swiftly.
And with each additional hand that emerged from the broken one, more mana was being drained from everyone involved in the rune array.
"Have faith!, Alec may be many things, but what we truly respect him for is his ability to read a battlefield," Agnes declared,
Maintaining her composure as she continued to manipulate the hands to restrain the Tier 3 Ghouls, who were relentless.
Despite feeling the most pressure as she controlled the array, Agnes still remained the most steadfast, reassuring everyone that they would emerge from this situation unscathed.
However, even she was depleting her mana reserves quicker than anticipated.
As one of the Ghoul broke free and charged towards Kate’s position in the rune array, it lunged forward, claws outstretched.
A large bolt of flame shot across, striking the Ghoul, its body shuddered, but the flame failed to repel it as Agnes had hoped.
The trapping rune array’s power was diminishing due to the excessive number of Tier 3 Ghouls they had attempted to ensnare.
The Ghoul persisted, aiming to slash at Kate’s throat, Kate was immobilised at her position; as any movement on her part would disrupt the entire array, freeing the remaining Ghouls they were in the process of immobilizing and allowing them to attack the rest of the group, which is already weakened by having expended half their mana to construct the array.
Kate was in a precarious position; as if she moved to save herself, the rest of the group, who were not yet Tier 3 Mages, would be at risk of dying from the freed Ghouls.
However, staying put meant certain death for her, and the array would definitely drain the remainder of her mana to maintain its stability if it felt she had lost her life.
With a resigned sigh, she steeled her resolve and closed her eyes, awaiting what seemed to be her inevitable fate.
Suddenly, she felt a warm liquid splash onto her. Opening her eyes, she saw a long ice shard embedded in the heart of the Ghoul that had been about to attack her, now falling to the ground, lifeless.
"That fool, ready to die for some low and Mid Tier clan mages, i could just slaughter the Ghouls myself!"
Pale muttered under his breath as he raised his hands, aiming above the immobilized Ghouls that were struggling to move.

Countless enormous icicles appeared in the sky at his command, and with a downward swing of his hands, as if pulling the icicles from the heavens, they began their deadly descent.
The massive icicles rained down, blanketing the target area, their sheer force and penetrating power skewered and crushed the Ghouls beneath.
From a distance, Alec, who had been observing Pale’s actions, shook his head in disapproval.
"I tell him one thing, and he does the complete opposite, Arrrgh," he grumbled.
"But he still managed to kill the Ghouls, Isn’t that suppose to be a mission accomplished in some type of way?" Beatrice inquired.
"Nah, you don’t get it, he could have resolved this without wasting so much mana, but he just had to show off, proving he could kill creatures below his own realm—a fact I’m well aware of and planned to utilize, but that idiot just complicated things as not only we can see him, now that Lich is going to try to clip his wings," Alec retorted.
Upon hearing this, Beatrice turned her gaze towards the Lich and noticed the skeletal figure poised to slam its staff onto the ground once more.
