Chapter 301: A Message

The next month or so was like this, and Finn had felt his body improve by leaps and bounds. What he needed to do next was consolidate it, so he’d have to go to the extension again soon.

The only ’break’ during this time was probably when Finn visited Lotus Town for a few days to accept some clearing missions (he was required to take missions monthly, as agreed upon with those overtly-passionate elders), as well as to teach the hired cooks about the sauces.

The operations there had already begun and Leez was starting to sell hundreds of bottles already, each one giving gold in pure profit! In time, money would truly no longer be a problem!

Finn stretched his arms as he sat at the side. He only cooked until the afternoon, so the rest of the day were for his other things. He sat down at the gazebo to feel the fresh air, hearing the various people doing their own things.

Some were chilling in their camp, some were fighting along the easements, some were barbecuing, and some were playing... hopscotch?

This was the kids, of course.

Rather, it was Lily playing and then encouraging the boy to do the same.

"Come on, come on! Is to ekuhcise yew coodination!"

The little boy with the neutral face looked at her and then at the pattern on the ground. Surprisingly, he did follow, but with a lot less enthusiasm. Still cute though.

"What are they doing?" Sylwen couldn’t help but ask, though there was a soft smile on her face to show her amusement.

"Making friends," he said, subtly touching her palm.

"I’ll be coming with you in the extension tomorrow," he said. " I need to train my body again."

He was feeling slightly feverish from the overload of energy. Just sitting and meditating wouldn’t properly circulate all that absorbed power into his body. He had to move it along, and the best and most effective way to do that was through fighting and actually using his skills.

Speaking of the extension, inspired by the whole ’reward people for doing tasks for him’ movement, he did not need to hire actual miners, nor did he have to give away too many points.

All he had to do was waive their use of the extension in exchange for mining. The rule for that one was quite complicated.

Fortunately, he managed to unlock the [Judgment Sprite], which required a certain tenure and experience from the other sprites. With him there, there could be some proper execution of rules even on the extension, since Panda was with him, and he couldn’t exactly go there just to kick people, right?

Anyway, the rule was that they had to mine 10 kg of metal to stay for a day. This amount of metal was enough to create 3 to 4 long swords, and even more if used for arming swords. His blacksmiths were also training some skills, so this efficiency might increase in time.

They were also not allowed to keep the ores without permission, and without paying. The Judgment Sprite was there to monitor this.

Anyway, now, Durgan had no lack of materials to experiment on, and the Blacksmithing shop had become a fully operational place, though most of their work was repairs since Durgan wasn’t very well known as a craftsman yet. However, he had already created many E-Class weapons and a few D-Class weapons now, so it was only a matter of time before the market started to trust him more.

As for Haurus, he would help out here and there, but his actual job was an alchemist. What was he to do when his alchemist kept moonlighting!?

It was fortunate for Haohao that plenty of the materials were imported, or they had to be grown manually in the gardens, so the raw materials weren’t as readily available as the ores, so he did have some free time to pursue blacksmithing as well.

Syl rested her head on his shoulder, and they watched over the children for a couple of minutes. However, at some point, she took out a stone with an unusual pattern.

He knew it as a communication rune, where short messages could appear on the flat piece of rune-filled stone. It was very difficult to make, and it also had a lot of limitations.

For example, it could only be used once a month at best, and only a few words could be sent.

"It’s my brother," she told him with a complicated expression on her face. "He just said he is fine and not to return for a while."

It felt heavy not to know more about his status.

They had decided to hide in the inn for a while, at least until Syl had upgraded by another tier. She was definitely working harder than he was and was in the extension every couple of days.

All she told her nephew was that their trip home was delayed because some accident happened on the road. Whether the child believed them was unknown, but he didn’t keep asking questions.

That child was indeed really mature, which was why watching him play like a child was so heartwarming.

"I’m worried about him, but there’s nothing I can do."

Who told her rank to be so lacking? 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦

The fighters in the elven capital were far superior to others. She was just lucky she had plenty of runes back when she was assassinated, but those were gone now.

She also needed to replenish her runes, and it seemed like it was possible in the inn, though they still needed to do a few things to make the workshop appear. For now, she was already absorbing the inherited knowledge and had already sent out requests for the raw materials.

For now, all they could do was prepare and strengthen themselves.

Finn gently massaged her hands, and it felt warm, like her whole body was relaxing a bit.

"I asked the guild to inquire about the situation on that side already," he said, his voice gentle. "You’re not alone, Syl, we will always be by your side."
