The Grand Duke's Son Is A Heretic-Chapter 114:Monster Charge
Chapter 114: 114:Monster Charge
A group of knights pushed forward, working together to bring down a particularly large orc. It swung its massive club, sending two men flying, but the rest closed in.
One drove a spear into its gut while another hacked at its legs. The beast fell with a thunderous crash before being finished off by a clean decapitation.
Kassel and Heru the two captains from the Sparves charged at the forefront bashing the monsters while giving orders at the back.
"Mage assume your stance and attack them," Kassel shouted.
Heru felt a chill and shouted while glaring at Kassel," Signal us to dodge before attacking.
"Oop!" Kassel made a slip of the tongue and looked behind to address his soldiers.
From the rear, the mages unleashed their magic. Bolts of fire exploded among the enemy ranks, scorching their flesh and sending some wolves into a frenzy. Ice magic froze limbs solid, shattering them with the next strike.
The light attacks fried many to death but few with which hideous skin shook it off.
Despite the initial attack, the orcs fought with terrifying ferocity. They showed no fear, only bloodlust. They roared and howled, swinging their weapons with deadly force. The knights held their ground, but for every orc slain, another took its place.
Kael’s eyes gleamed with cold menace. He cut through another enemy before shouting, "We need to finish this quickly."
With renewed fury, the knights pressed forward, their swords and spears striking true. Kael led the charge, his blade carving through flesh and bone like a demon on the battlefield.
Finally, after what felt like an eternity, the last orc fell, its massive body crashing into the snow. The battlefield fell silent, save for the heavy breaths of the survivors. The snow was stained crimson, and the corpses of the fallen littered the ground.
Kael wiped the blood off his blade and turned to his men. His voice was calm, but his eyes were like ice.
"This was only the beginning. I feel there will be more pincer attacks."
The eerie silence that followed the battle didn’t last long. Before the knights could even catch their breath, a new wave of monstrous figures emerged from the darkness.
Everyone’s lips twitched as they looked at Kael for his black tongue.
"Stop looking and start fighting."
At first, Gare noticed something odd. "Hold your ground!" he commanded, his sharp eyes scanning the approaching enemies. "This isn’t right. Be careful—these things aren’t like before!"
Hogglobins. Normally, these creatures were little more than cannon fodder, known for their primitive wooden clubs and crude armor. But now, they wielded proper weapons—rusty yet deadly swords, spears, and even jagged iron shields. Their beady yellow eyes gleamed with intelligence far beyond their usual savagery.
And they weren’t alone.
Towering behind them were monstrous reptilian beasts, their muscular frames covered in black scales. Their mouths dripped with acidic saliva, sizzling as it hit the snowy ground. They had long, whip-like tails lined with jagged bone spikes. These creatures moved with calculated aggression, unlike the mindless berserkers before them.
Chris’ expression darkened. "This... this is bad."
"Everyone, defensive positions!" Kael’s voice rang across the battlefield. "Swordsmen, form a tight line! Mages, hold your spells until I command! Spearmen, brace for impact!"
The monsters lunged forward.
Soon, another round begun.
Baret was the first to move, his greatsword cleaving through the skull of a charging hogglobin. Without missing a beat, he pivoted, catching another with a brutal backhand swing that sent the creature flying.
Blood sprayed across the snow as he roared, "COME AT ME, YOU FILTHY PIGS!"
Gare, always more controlled, fought with precise, calculated strikes. His twin blades weaved through the battlefield like a deadly dance, parrying incoming attacks before countering with swift, lethal cuts. One hogglobin lunged at him with a spear—he sidestepped smoothly, severing its arm before driving his sword into its chest.
Chris was in the thick of it, his movements fast and flexible. He ducked under a wild axe swing, rolling forward before slashing an enemy’s leg. Another tried to stab him from behind, but he twisted at the last moment, his sword flashing as he decapitated the creature in one fluid motion.
"Chris, are you alright?!" Kael’s voice boomed.
Chris, his breath heavy, didn’t hesitate. "Yes, My Lord! I can handle it!" His eyes burned with determination as he plunged his blade into another hogglobin, then spun away from a reptilian beast’s tail swipe.
Kael, standing at the center, barked commands like a conductor leading an orchestra. "Gare, take the left flank! Baret, hold the front—don’t let them push through! Chris, keep moving, don’t let them corner you! Mages, FIRE AT WILL!"
Bolts of fire and ice rained down on the enemy, scorching flesh and freezing limbs. One of the reptilian monsters shrieked in agony as a fireball exploded against its side, but it didn’t fall—it charged with even more fury.
Despite the chaos, Kael noticed something unsettling.
"Lyria," he called out, falling back to the center.
She stepped beside him and asked her with emotionless face,Face,"Master, why did you fall back?"
"Did you exhaust yourself?"
Kael’s lips curled into a smirk, but his gaze was sharp. "Of course not... I’m searching."
Lyria tilted her head slightly. "Searching?"
Kael’s eyes narrowed as he scanned the battlefield. He could feel it—a sinister gaze, watching from the shadows. A presence that was hiding, waiting for the perfect moment to strike.
"This is a good feast," he murmured. "But something far worse is lurking in the dark."
Just as he said this, he felt an unusual gathering of high intensity of mana that made him shriek.
"Everyone be careful."
"GRRRRREREE!"
A fierce roar shook the entire place scaring the shit out of them following which a soft quake emerged.
A blinding light gathered at the monster’s maw, crackling with terrifying energy. The air itself seemed to tremble as the beam condensed into a single point. And then—BOOM!
A colossal ray of destruction shot out, ripping through the battlefield like an unstoppable force. The sheer heat scorched the earth, turning the ground into molten rock as it carved a path of annihilation.
Handel’s eyes widened. "Vic! We can’t let that hit!"
