The Grand Duke's Son Is A Heretic-Chapter 171
Chapter 171: 171
Inside the room, Mira stood tall with a stern look on her face. Her sharp eyes swept across the men gathered.
Each one lowered their gaze the moment their eyes met hers.
Mira Jess , Captain in charge of the operation. Everyone in the room knew how strict and cold she was. She didn’t smile. She didn’t speak more than needed. She didn’t forgive mistakes.
She spoke firmly, her voice steady and sharp.
"Since everything’s already set, we need to oversee the whole thing carefully. We can’t afford any mistakes."
Her eyes narrowed dangerously as he looked at everyone with faint curl tugged on her lips.
"This might be the turning point in Night Star’s history. If we do this right, we’ll finally get what we’ve been working toward."
Her voice dropped cold.
"We can’t fail. Is that clear?"
"YESSS SIRRRR!"
Everyone shouted, voices overlapping, startled by her tone.
Mira gave a short nod and stood from her seat. But just as she started to move , she stopped abruptly. Her praise made others frown and before they could react, her body moved fast—faster than most could follow.
In a blink, she pulled a dagger from her side and threw it up toward the ceiling.
SHIING!
The blade cut through the pipe vent like paper, scraping across the metal above. Sparks flew.
Everyone flinched. A few stepped back.
"Mam, what happened?" one of the men asked in a shaky voice.
Mira didn’t answer right away. She looked up, her lips curling into a cold scoff.
"A rat," she muttered.
Then, without hesitation, she raised her hand and gave the order.
"Ignition."
BOOOOOM!
A loud explosion blasted through the ceiling. The pipe burst open, flames pouring out and eating into the wall.
"Aahhhh!"
"Shit! What the hell?!"
"The vent! The whole damn ceiling’s on fire!"
Men screamed, ducked, and stumbled back as smoke and fire filled the room. ƒreewebɳovel.com
But Mira didn’t move. She stood still unshaken looking at the explosion with cold piercing eyes.
"Someone is here."
Her cold voice cut through the chaos.
The explosion rang out like thunder in a metal drum.
BOOOOM!
The vent burst apart in a cloud of fire and smoke, sending hot shards flying across the room. Sparks lit the air as Kael’s body twisted mid-fall, flipping out of the now-destroyed shaft.
He crashed onto the meeting room table, scattering maps and documents, before rolling off and landing low on his feet like a beast.
Everyone stood frozen for half a second—then chaos broke.
"INTRUDER!"
"GET HIM!"
Kael’s cloak flared as he moved, hand slashing through the air—three throwing knives shot forward, striking the lights above. The room went dark, flickering in emergency red.
He reached into his inner coat and pulled two smoke balls that he picked up in a rifle box. They hit the floor with a hiss.
Thick black smoke filled the air.
Loud slashes cracked.Blades flashe and people screamed.
Someone pulled out a rifle and shot through the dense fuming fog that covered their vision.
Hearing a clicking sound, his entire body tensed up.He didn’t dare to neglect the firepower of the gun.Kael ducked low and ran between the shadows, sliding behind a pillar as bullets whizzed past and then used a wooden table by kicking it to send flying.
The moment the table crashed onto everyone, the whole room froze.
For a few seconds, no one moved.
Only the sound of the flames crackling and the broken vent clanging down filled the air.
Someone finally shouted, voice cracking in panic,"WHO THE HELL IS THAT?!"
"He’s not one of us!" another cried, pulling out a short blade.
A few stood frozen, too stunned to even reach for their weapons.Others raised guns or shouted orders.
But before any of them could act, Mira moved.
She dashed forward without a single word, like a whip snapping through the air.
Her dagger flashed in her hand, sharp and fast.
Kael’s eyes narrowed.
He pushed off the table and jumped back, landing lightly against the wall.
Mira didn’t stop. She came at him hard, her strikes quick and deadly, pressing him back without giving him a second to think.
Steel clashed. Sparks flew.
Kael blocked with his forearm guard, twisting away, letting her attacks slide past. He didn’t fight back — he just defended, moving smart and light.
Mira’s cold voice cut through the air.
"Who are you?"
She slashed again, aiming at his throat.
Kael ducked low, barely avoiding it.
"You don’t look like an Ice Elf," she said sharply, her dagger spinning in her hand.
"From another political party? Or from another kingdom?"
Kael didn’t answer. His mouth stayed shut, his focus locked on the briefcase sitting near the table.
More men tried to jump into the fight, but the room was too cramped. One man bumped into another, knocking over chairs.
"Move, damn it!"
"He’s getting away!"
"Surround him— surround him!"
Their shouting only made it worse.
In the chaos, Kael slipped between them like an eel, moving fast and low.
Mira despite her strength was greatly restricted by the surroundings.
Mira’s dagger came slashing at his side, but Kael turned his body, letting the blade miss him by an inch.
He rolled on the ground dodging a few attacks, grabbed the steel briefcase in one hand, and spun.
As Mira charged again, Kael kicked out sharply with a terrifying might pouring a huge reserve of mana to strengthen his leg that created a shockwave.
BANG!
Mira’s expression changed as boot struck Mira’s side, making her stumble a step back. Her bun shook loose, hair whipping around her face.
Without missing the chance, Kael shot forward.
He sprinted at full speed over the wall.
"STOP HIMMM!"
Mira shouted to others. They stopped shooting seeing Mira engaging personally and now took up the guns to shoot.
But Kael was a step faster, as he used his shoulder slamming into the wall.
CRAAACK!
The old bricks and plaster burst apart as he broke through it, disappearing into the smoke and night beyond.
"AFTER HIM!" Mira barked, her voice cold and furious.
The others scrambled, shouting and chasing, but Kael was already gone — like a shadow swallowed by the dark.
