The Guide is Actually a Body-Switching Esper [BL]-Chapter 265: (True Love’s) Kiss
Chapter 265: (True Love’s) Kiss
The sun was already approaching the horizon by the time Lane finally arrived at the fortress, its lazy rays casting long shadows. He parked in front of the tall, cold walls, as menacing as ever, and as he waited for the gates to open, he took out a silky scarf, and wrapped it around Damien’s eyes. Of course, he could have just hypnotized Damien, to make sure he never opened his eyes, not even by accident...
But no one in here knew that he had such an ability, thus it wasn’t part of the plan. And neither was hypnotizing Damien to stay asleep. Lane was actually supposed to drug his boyfriend, as per Diana’s request... But why would he do it, when he had a much better alternative? He might have had experience with using sleeping pills, but he was still no pharmacist!
It took even longer than last time, over half an hour until the gates finally parted with a thunder-like growl. Lane tapped his fingers on the wheel, impatient, and stepped on the gas, driving forward before the gates could even fully open.
Only to stop once again shortly after at the second checkpoint. He had to leave his car there, so he picked Damien up, carrying him like a princess. He scanned his palm prints and the eyes, getting through the second gate... fгee𝑤ebɳoveɭ.cøm
And reached the screen with the security question, and quickly filled it up...
Making a mistake out of nerves.
Bright red light instantly flashed, and a cage dropped seemingly out of nowhere, trapping him in place. A cage made out of special metal alloys, far more durable than most others...
Naturally, Lane would still be able to get out of there if he wanted to, but that would make things even more complicated. The staff of the fortress still believed him to be an F-ranker, and although he came here today to announce himself as an A-ranker with an air manipulation type of ability, no one knew that yet. Besides, that ability alone wouldn’t be able to free him from the cage.
So he had no choice but to wait...
Luckily, while waiting at the first checkpoint took a lot of time, the staff’s reaction to an ’intruder’ alarm was much quicker. In just a short moment, Lane was surrounded by a lot of guards...
"Lane?" Ariana, his secret aunt, stepped forward, recognizing him.
Well, it would be hard not to recognize. She must have received the report that he had arrived already. Because if he hadn’t been recognized at the first gate, then he wouldn’t have been allowed inside at all!
"Hi!" Lane smiled at the sight of the woman. "Sorry, my finger slipped, and I’ve pressed the wrong answer!"
More like he hadn’t been paying attention, but that wasn’t all that different, honestly.
"Well," Ariana looked him up and down. Then she approached the cage, and handed Lane a tablet through the bars. "Fill this up first."
There was another questionnaire waiting for him, much longer and more detailed this time. After all, the earlier scans already confirmed he was Lane Allen, what they needed to confirm now was that his mind was also right!
Lane let out a heavy sigh, and plopped down on the ground, sitting cross-legged, with Damien’s head resting on his lap. He then started to fill the stupid questionnaire, trying to focus this time...
As annoying as it was, it was necessary. In order to keep such a big secret from leaking out, a lot of precautions were needed!
"Hmm. Everything checks out." After taking back the tablet from Lane, Ariana nodded her head, and gestured at the guards, "Release him."
"Sorry about that," she then said, once Lane stood back up and they moved forward, Lane carrying the still unconscious Damien in his arms.
"No worries, I get it. Better safe than sorry."
"Mn."
They reached the final checkpoint together, Ariana passing through the scanner first... Then, they had to turn it off and place Damien inside, as they couldn’t both be scanned at the same time, or else an error would occur... Watching as Ariana turned the device back on, Lane couldn’t help but feel nervous. After all, it was supposed to detect any ability influences, and Damien was under hypnosis...
But Lane’s hypnosis ability was too advanced for the device, and Damien was only illuminated by the blue light, signaling that he was clear and could be allowed inside. Lane passed through the scanner next, and with no abnormalities detected, they were finally in.
...Perhaps it wasn’t so bad that he couldn’t visit the place all that often, because if Lane were to be subjected to such a tedious process on a regular basis, he could end up going insane!
Not that he didn’t want to meet Diana, but...
They’ve passed through the maze of corridors, Ariana leading the way - he spent so much time in the fortress that she was very familiar with the layout - and got into the Gate, and then the mansion within.
"When will that man wake up?" she asked as they reached the simple and elegant hallways of the mansion, right by the garden where Diana liked to spend her time the most.
’That man.’ Because Lane didn’t quite explain whom exactly he was bringing, he had just mentioned that there was someone he wanted to introduce to Diana.
"Hmm... Let me check." Lane pulled out his phone, looking at the time. "It should be maybe half an hour, or an hour max?"
"Alright. Then do you want to put him down somewhere and meet Diana first?"
Lane quickly shook his head, rejecting the offer. "No, just show us to a room, and I’ll wait for him to wake up."
Leaving Damien behind wasn’t an option. How could he possibly awaken on his own, when he wasn’t on the sleeping pills, but rather under a spell (of sorts)? Like a princess, he needed the (true love’s) kiss to wake up!
So, Lane brought him into one of the empty rooms, laying him down on the bed... And when he was sure that there was no one around (or at least not in sight), he did just that!
