Chapter 21: Chapter 21 Hu Pangzi’s Vision_1

Li Qing lingered in Han Mei’s bedroom for over half an hour before finally leaving and making his way back home.

As he reached his doorway, he saw Hu Wei, with his substantial rear end in the air, poking around the corner of his wall.

"Hey," Li Qing called out, "what are you doing?"

Hu Wei turned his head quickly at the sound, "Where have you been? I’ve been looking for you everywhere!"

"I went to check on the fields. Why are you digging around the base of my wall?" Li Qing asked in confusion.

Hu Wei chuckled, "I remember you used to hide the front door key under the wall base. I was looking around for it. Couldn’t wait for you. I was so bored I thought I’d go and rest at your place for a while."

"If you could find the key I’ve hidden that easily, would there be any point in hiding it?" Li Qing retrieved the key from atop the wall and opened the door.

Shaking his head, Hu Wei sighed, "So you’ve changed your tricks."

"What’s the rush to find me?" Li Qing asked after entering the house.

With a mournful expression, Hu Wei said, "I botched something today. Running off too fast only caused more trouble."

"Did your heartless dad whack you?" Li Qing teased deliberately.

"That’s my dad, after all, don’t curse him to my face," Hu Wei said. "If he’d just beaten me, that might have been better. He shamed me, then invited Wu Xingxing over as a guest, and the woman actually accepted!"

"Bro, you’ve got to help me come up with a plan, what should I do?"

Li Qing couldn’t help but laugh, "Wu Xingxing coming to your house is a good thing. Maybe once she sees your mansion, and hears about your heartless dad’s assets, she might just agree to marry into your family."

"Enjoy your secret joy, Fatso, that girl is genuinely pretty!"

Hu Wei rattled his head vigorously, "But I don’t want to, and I’m not keen on it."

"Even if I could marry her, with the way I look, could I really keep her? What if the children aren’t mine, the assets aren’t mine, and she doesn’t even sleep in the same bed as me? I’d rather not get married at all."

Li Qing was taken aback, "You’re thinking... quite far ahead."

"That’s self-awareness for you, it’s reality," said Hu Wei with an air of experience.

Li Qing found himself a bit speechless, "So what are you going to do?"

"That’s why I’m asking you," Hu Wei said, "Bro, come up with something for me quick!"

Li Qing looked at Hu Wei as if he were looking at a fool, "Whether you two make it or not. I think it’s slightly difficult, but not making it, isn’t that very simple?"

"Just show up with a boorish appearance, ask her if she can sleep with you at night, and the deal will be off instantly!"

"If that’s not enough, just make yourself look even more unkempt."

With a gloomy face, Hu Wei said, "The key problem is my dad. If I said that in front of my whole family, he’d definitely beat me to death. I could take a beating, after all, with all this fat, he can’t do much to me now, but I’m afraid he’ll cut off my allowance, then I’m truly screwed."

"Just find an opportunity on the side, isn’t that easy enough?" Li Qing said nonchalantly, "You’ve been to school, haven’t you? Why can’t your brain come up with anything tricky? How did you ever get into school?"

"When have I ever taken any exams? Didn’t I just buy my way through?" Hu Wei retorted with righteous indignation.

Li Qing opened his mouth in response.

Alright then, having money is indeed awesome.

This fatso, he really did buy his way through.

"Then just go with my idea. As long as Wu Xingxing dislikes you, unless your dad can solve it with money, it’s definitely not going to happen!" Li Qing said with full confidence.

In fact, he felt Hu Wei’s worries were completely unnecessary.

Perhaps Wu Xingxing, upon seeing him like this, just turned around and left.

"I hope she’s not a woman who only has eyes for money!" Hu Wei prayed with his hands clasped together, muttering incessantly.

Li Qing shook his head with a sense of helplessness; it seemed beyond hope.

Truth be told, his idea was a bit odd.

"Qingzi, come over to my place later to watch a movie!" Hu Wei suggested to Li Qing after praying to who knows what.

Li Qing drank a glass of cool boiled water with a gulp and placed the glass on the table, saying, "I’m not like you, a little rich second generation who doesn’t have to worry about anything at home. This afternoon, I need to go fix the water channels in the wheat fields; some places have been filled level with silt."

"Take a little break, you have to balance work with leisure. You’re pretty tired from busying yourself in the fields all the time," Hu Wei advised, giving Li Qing a sleazy wink as he spoke, "I’ve recently got my hands on a few collector’s edition discs that you can’t find on the market anymore."

This proposal suddenly made Li Qing somewhat tempted.

During middle school, Hu Wei was the first one to own a portable DVD player.

Back then, those so-called collector’s edition discs brazenly nestled in the corners of the shelves in video stores.

Gathering together in the dorm on weekends to watch fierce combat from foreign lands was a major event for the brothers.

"If you’d mentioned this earlier, how could I have refused!" Li Qing said with a laugh.

When he mentioned fixing the water channels, it was just an excuse; he simply didn’t want to go to Hu Wei’s home.

He was worried that if he went, he wouldn’t be able to resist tearing Hu Wei’s house apart.

Hu Wei pointed at Li Qing and laughed in a lewd manner, "That’s what I’m talking about, brother. Let’s go to my place right now."

"Let’s go, let’s go."

As soon as Li Qing followed Hu Wei into the house, they bumped into Yu Lan.

She was still her usual demure self, nodding and smiling gently at Li Qing, "Qingzi is here too!"

"Auntie Yu Lan, are you..." Li Qing glanced at the bamboo basket in Yu Lan’s hand and quickly scanned over her.

Yu Lan was dressed in a very conservative tank top and shirt on top, and a pair of loose pants on the bottom.

Although the pants were loose, they clung to the skin, accentuating Yu Lan’s perky bottom, making it appear especially elastic.

Yu Lan said with a smile, "I’m going to pick some vegetables from the garden. You guys go upstairs, don’t mind me."

"Oh, okay." Li Qing’s gaze followed Yu Lan’s figure for a few steps before he continued upstairs with Hu Wei.

"Eat! Drink!" Hu Wei brought over cola and iced watermelon, placed them in front of Li Qing, and said with a smile, "Aren’t you envious that I have such a young mom?"

"Forget it, I’m not one to envy!" Li Qing promptly shook his head in response.

Hu Wei sat down in front of the computer, speaking disdainfully, "Honestly, my dad is just a good-for-nothing!"

"Yet, he insists on not letting me be a good-for-nothing, which is completely unreasonable."

Li Qing didn’t hold back, earnestly attacking the watermelon while making a cheeky retort, "With the way you are, you might as well give up on being a good-for-nothing; you’re not cut out for it."

"Hey, my dad said the same thing; I don’t have the talent to be a good-for-nothing, but you do have the talent to be like my dad," Hu Wei blurted out.

Li Qing shook his head; there really wasn’t anything Hu Wei wouldn’t say.

If Auntie Yu Lan agreed, he really wouldn’t mind playing the role of dad for Hu Wei.

Yu Lan was both beautiful and gentle, and not old at all—who wouldn’t like her?
