Chapter 887: Chapter 887 An Old Man

Zi Ling’s move was something Li Qing truly hadn’t expected.

Her soul-stirring eyes seemed to contain countless words of affection, fluttering sporadically.

Feeling the delicate and warm sucking, Li Qing’s heart trembled fiercely, goosebumps rising on his skin, followed by a rush of hot blood surging from his belly, shooting straight to his crown.

But he forcefully restrained the boiling restlessness and the impulse to immediately press Zi Ling against the wall and have his way with her.

In some corner of the village, there might well be an old monster watching, and Li Qing would certainly not do something to give others an advantage. He lightly caressed Zi Ling’s moist tongue and lips with his thumb a few times before withdrawing his finger.

"You’ve got me quite worked up all of a sudden," Li Qing said to Zi Ling with an indulgent smile.

"If you can’t stand it, don’t hold back. I can take your pants off right now. Come on, give yourself a chance to ravish to your heart’s content," Zi Ling said with a coquettish smile on her lips, seemingly transforming into a bewitching fox spirit, her words laced with mischief.

The restlessness Li Qing had just suppressed surged back up at her words.

It was clear they were now very familiar with one another; whether it was talk of taking off pants or actually doing it, there was no longer any hesitation. They could say it and do it, however and whenever they wanted.

"Hold on, there are still eyes in the shadows. We have important matters to attend to," Li Qing said in a deep voice.

Zi Ling burst into giggles, "I was just teasing you. You don’t think I’d really be so improper, do you? Let’s go."

"No hard feelings this time, right? Once we deal with that old crone, we’ll find a place to talk at leisure," Li Qing said with a smile.

Zi Ling glared at Li Qing with slight embarrassment and annoyance, whispering, "I was really just joking, don’t take it seriously!"

"Am I that desperate? What I’m upset about is your breaking a promise. You said we would meet but then you stood me up. Alright, maybe I did come off a bit eager, but what really upset me was the lack of trust, not so much the other stuff."

Li Qing nodded again and again, "I understand, understand. Let’s go check out where this guy is hiding."

Zi Ling tenderly nodded, took Li Qing’s arm, and followed him into the village with a dependent air.

The way she acted, she clearly didn’t take the guy who could manipulate potatoes seriously, as if she were merely out for a scenic stroll.

The village was silent as if it had been evacuated.

Li Qing led the way with his Soul-breaking Arrows.

They served as another set of eyes for him, gliding through halls and rooms as quickly as a fleeting shadow.

With this device as his scout, Li Qing saved a lot of energy, not needing to search each house personally.

But to his surprise, ever since they entered the village, the old fellow hadn’t manipulated any potatoes or anything else to launch an attack on them.

Li Qing didn’t know if he had been frightened or was brewing a bigger counterattack.

Regrettably, despite combing the entire village, Li Qing and Zi Ling found no trace whatsoever.

There was no sign of a person, not even a ghost’s shadow.

"Qingzi, could it be that the person isn’t in the village at all, or could you have guessed wrong?" Zi Ling couldn’t help but ask.

Li Qing looked up at the mountains surrounding Five Springs Village and nodded, "It’s possible, but maybe the fellow is hiding in the mountains."

Zi Ling frowned slightly as she looked at the surrounding peaks, "With such a vast forest, how long will it take us to search?"

"Let’s use the Godspeed Talisman," Li Qing suggested after a moment’s thought, "Tough though it may be, we still have to search."

If someone was at Jing Yan’s realm, their Divine Sense could spread out for dozens of miles, making everything as clear as day, even the crawling creatures on the ground.

However, Li Qing and Zi Ling weren’t there yet.

The range of their Divine Senses was about the same, expanding only a few meters around them.

Zi Ling nodded and said, "Let me see if I still have any of those talismans, recently my master has been hell-bent on improving the Thunder Talisman, so he hardly ever makes these less commonly used talismans for me."

"I have some!" Li Qing took out two and handed one to Zi Ling.

"You’ve actually been holding onto these few shabby talismans without using them," Zi Ling laughed upon seeing the familiar talisman.

These talismans were given to Li Qing by Hong Fang Zhenren before.

After sticking on the Godspeed Talismans, the two instantly turned into a blur and disappeared from the spot.

The Soul-breaking Arrows were even faster.

As Li Qing and Zi Ling sped away, he managed the Soul-breaking Arrows and systematically swept through the surroundings.

"I’ve found something," Li Qing suddenly stopped when they reached the foot of the southern mountain of Five Springs Village.

Zi Ling drew several talismans with a graceful motion and asked in a delicate voice, "Where is it?"

"Inside that grave mound. This old ghost sure knows how to hide. Otherwise, I might not have noticed him when I passed over it just now," said Li Qing, gazing at a grave hidden amongst the trees to the left in front of him, with a serious voice.

"So it’s not a person?" Zi Ling immediately became alert.

"It is a person, just one who’s taken a dead man’s place," Li Qing said solemnly. "Don’t make a move just yet, let me test his level!"

Zi Ling spoke softly, "Be careful, those who aren’t even afraid of the dead are not just hateful, they’re also treacherous."

Li Qing nodded and maneuvered the Soul-breaking Arrow to pierce through the soil in an instant.

But before the Soul-breaking Arrow could go deep, the grave mound, which looked quite old, suddenly exploded.

A scrawny old man then jumped out of the grave, holding a big red-paper umbrella.

He was wearing a tattered long robe, but on his feet were a pair of sports shoes. His body was slightly hunched, and his cheeks were so thin it seemed like they couldn’t be sliced to even two ounces of flesh, cheekbones protruding, eye sockets sunken.

His comical appearance was such that he could take to the stage to play a clown without even needing makeup.

With eyes sunk deep in their sockets giving him a ghostly look, the old man surveyed Li Qing and Zi Ling and said with a sinister tone, "You two little ones, you’re really persistent, tracking me down here. Well then, since that’s the case, I’ll have to do the dirty work and send you to the west."

"Stop pretending, your strength seems to be just around the mid-stage of Qi Cultivation, surrender quietly, or I’ll have to kill you!" Li Qing said seriously, feeling that the old man’s strength wasn’t very formidable.

Moreover, the Soul-breaking Arrow was already hovering behind his head, and the old guy didn’t even seem to notice it.

"Little kid, scaring people is not very nice. Kneel down and beg for mercy, and I might spare your lives," the old man announced sinisterly.

Li Qing maneuvered the Soul-breaking Arrow to poke the back of the old man’s head.

"Who?!" The old man suddenly turned around and swung a slap upward.

His head was thin and small, but his slap was oddly large and, with a swift motion, collided successfully with the head of the Soul-breaking Arrow.
