The Harvester-Chapter 451: Crown of Ten Glories

Right after crashing into his bed and shutting his brain off with Eye of Symphony, Rakna opened his eyes inside his dreamscape created with Sin Magic. While he didn’t value it as much without the company of Ceresta, it wasn’t such a bad place to retreat to.

He sat against the lone tree that decorated the dark world and looked up. "And... there it is," he muttered as he watched a colorful misty orb orbiting far above his head. It had a similar feeling to one of Azathoth’s eyes... without the mind-numbing madness.

"That’s the Simulation, huh? It does feel like I could go in right now," he thought aloud. "Oh, well, it’s better to let Soma settle things inside for now."

As he spoke to himself, he waved his hand and an embellished interface of the System appeared in the air like a pleasant mirage. With Eye of Symphony taking over the duties Ceresta once had as his personal AI, he could easily bring his status into his dreams.

Rakna swiftly scanned the many notifications from the fight against Tarnished Death. There was nothing new or surprising about them for the most part; simple level-ups.

In the end, he opened his status in full.

"Looking at it again... I’ve certainly come a long way," Rakna muttered to himself. And quickly, he noticed the glaring anomaly. "I don’t remember getting that title..." He commented and chortled as he opened the description. "But why am I not surprised?"

"...aah," Rakna could only sigh. He brushed his hair with his hand. "Really. What is this supposed to be? Are you marking your territory, or what?" He muttered defeatedly. Thankfully, he had the hunch he would never have to fight the Empress... or rather, she would never harm him.

"Wait..." He realized something. "What if I tell her that Roias actually almost killed me? Will she get rid of him for me?" He asked himself in all seriousness.

Unbeknownst to him, had the Téras in question heard that, he would have had genuinely no way to defend himself. The Abyss Empress was as lenient in her rule as she was whimsical.

"Food for thought," Rakna said in amusement

The next thing he looked at was his seemingly new magic element. It was something peculiar in and of itself since it was an offshoot of his principal affinity. Until now, his star magic had been solely based on the ’mystic stars’. That is to say; Everfrost, Neverwinter, and Obsidian.

But in the heat of the battle, he had somehow stripped his magic of its ’identity’. ’Wish Upon A Star’ had excavated the pure meaning of a star. It forced the addition of a new element onto his status... and that single Tier 1 spell also immediately raised its level to 22 upon creation.

"Considering the purpose of that spell, it doesn’t surprise me," Rakna muttered to himself. What else would you expect from something capable of granting wishes? For the first time, he actually felt like he was taking the path laid out by the Sage of The Crystal Mountain.

"Then, there’s obviously Arch Madness... and the new Personal Skill," he hummed.

The Sentinel’s Dream

A nebulous world formed by The Dreamer around the individual known as Rakna Xiorra Blade, the Moon Sentinel. It has been inherited by the Host instead of fading away and is passively sustained by Life Force.

With this skill, the user is capable of controlling the contents of the Dream and expanding it to their desires as long as their power is sufficient. Furthermore, at the cost of mana and psychic energy, it is possible to manifest ’concepts’ of the Dream into reality from the ’Eye That Slumbers’ in the Host’s hand.

"Yeah..." Rakna blankly looked at Eva’s little message. Nothing surprising here. "Next."

Now, the important part; Path Skills. Reverse Cosmos was a skill that would need a fair amount of testing and experimentation, so that would be for later. But, recalling how the Sage used it to stop time, it probably had an extremely high potential.

Especially if he weighed in the fact that this skill set based on the Reverse Side seemed to be his own ’Legend’ as a Ten-Tailed. The term had been thrown around by the System a few times in a peculiar way, and chances were, it carried some amount of authority.

Then, there were the two other skills.

Serakal of The Reverse Side

For each wing grown, the Host has access to an ethereal equivalent of it called a Serakal.

Like Valkals, they are akin to limbs existing outside dimensions but physically anchored to the real world. With relative size and position, they are capable of being anywhere the user bids them to be.

However, they are not as reactive, nor as agile as Valkals. They are hard to control and are negatively anchored in space, to the point of being nearly impossible to move physically. In consequence, Serakals boast incomparable defensive capabilities.

Cost: Psychic Energy. Increases With Damage Taken.

Crown of Ten Glories

A Crown warranted to the Ten-Tailed Werewolf.

For each tail possessed by the owner of this skill, with a maximum of ten, a ’Glory’ is available for use. Each ’Glory’ can be marked onto a status element, item, creature, or concept to enhance its overall value. The enhancement varies depending on the target in correlation with the user’s power but is otherwise permanent until retracted. However, effectiveness does increase under the light of the full moon.

Glories are spiritual blessings of the Ten-Tailed Werewolf. They can be damaged, dispelled, and destroyed by external forces. When either of these outcomes occur, or when any Glory is willfully retracted, all of them, regardless of their state, will be recalled to their master to form the Crown of Ten Glories.

The Crown will manifest for a limited time and will grant its wearer the maximum power of the marks it had been blessing up until then and boost the Host’s Life Force level, scaling off the amount of time the Glories had been deployed.

When the duration ends, the Crown of Ten Glories will go into slumber until it can be used again, and if any of the user’s own abilities were enhanced by the Crown, they will be quasi-sealed for the same amount of time.

Note: There is no limit as to what can be ’Marked By Glory’ so long as it is consciously identified by the user as a distinctive target.

Cooldown: None/Variable.

Marking Range: Within sensorial reach.

Recalling Range: Unlimited.

Additional Note: This skill’s effects are unpredictable, operating based on far too many variables, and therefore cannot be quantified properly.

"...if the Nine-Tailed has the Pearl, then I suppose it’s fair to say I have this," Rakna muttered as soon as he finished reading the description. It was as formidable as it was multifaceted.

A universal selective buff that doubled as a potential skill steal and level increase... There was no example to go off by, but if it was anything as formidable as it made it sound, this was a valuable trump card, with barely any negative side effects.

"But, again, it’s a skill that emphasizes a division of my power through my tails," Rakna mused to himself. "Of course, that’s not new. And the original myth of Yōkai gaining tails with age is more or less the same in that regard..."

There was nothing wrong with it. Each tail was an internal unit of sorts that could synergize, in a sense, to output special abilities like the Tailed Pearl and Clones. And, most glaringly, the Tenth Tail of the Sage Nephilim, was a derivation of that.

Regardless, there was something to learn somewhere in there. Physically speaking, the tails did not contain his power. If Rakna cut one off, it would regrow and not weaken him. But it was a different story when he willfully detached them as a Tail Clone, with a piece of his soul with it.

The tails were primarily vessels or catalysts, both even, rather than real limbs; something clearly validated by the new skill. And Rakna thought he should acknowledge them as such more.

"Well..." He breathed out and looked up mindlessly. "Should I rest a little for now?"

That night, Rakna allowed this dream to last a full month within his mind. Not realizing the sheer disregard for time that Arch Madness had afflicted him with.
