The Headline Queen: President Hawthorne is Her Die-Hard Fan!-Chapter 526: Not Going to Argue with Me
In the afternoon, the sunset hung over the sea, dazzlingly golden.
Paige Sterling was leaning by the window looking out, half of her body nearly hanging out of it. When Henry Hale opened the door and came in, he was shocked by the scene.
"Paige, what are you doing?"
Paige hadn’t yet recovered from his voice when the next moment she was abruptly pulled back into the room by him.
Paige’s head spun for a moment, "Henry, what are you doing?"
Henry looked at her with a terrifying gaze, then without saying anything, ordered the bodyguards to bring in a rope and tied her up just like that.
Paige’s face was extremely displeased, "Henry, what exactly do you want to do?"
Henry said, "I should be asking you, what do you intend to do? Are you really planning to jump into the sea to die? Do you think if you die, I’ll let you go?"
Paige, "...", utterly baffling!
"Henry, is there something wrong with your brain?"
Even if she really fell out of the window, she shouldn’t fall into the sea, right?
Isn’t there another deck outside?
Henry is completely being unreasonable.
"Paige, I want to treat you nicely, so I never treated you as a hostage, but you just won’t behave. Now that I’m tying you up, reflect on it properly, and don’t do things that will make me angry anymore."
After speaking, he sighed, looking at Paige with a complex expression, "Stay in the room, don’t mess around; I’ll come to see you tonight."
Then he threatened, "Don’t hurt yourself anymore, in the end, it’s you who suffers."
So Paige was tied up for several hours like that.
When Henry finished his work and came to find Paige again, he found something was wrong.
The room was in chaos, as if it had been ransacked, and Paige was still tied up, but the rope binding her was no longer the original one.
Henry could hardly believe Paige could break free from the ropes and fight with the bodyguards in such a situation.
Seeing Paige sleeping soundly, he went out first to ask the bodyguards, "What’s going on?"
The bodyguard said, "Miss Sterling somehow broke the rope and started smashing things inside."
Afraid Paige would hurt herself, they had no choice but to tie her up again.
Henry sighed, Paige was expressing her dissatisfaction with him.
He asked the bodyguard, "How is she?"
The bodyguard said, "Miss Sterling is fine."
There seemed to be some noise in the room, indicating Paige might have woken up.
Henry pushed the door open and went inside, sure enough, he saw Paige was awake.
She sat on the bed, her eyes lazily half-opened.
Henry said, "Paige, don’t do this in the future, you’re not someone who should resort to suicide at the drop of a hat."
Paige looked as if she couldn’t be bothered with Henry, so he continued on his own, "Wanna eat something?"
Without waiting for Paige to nod or shake her head, he sentimentally had the bodyguards bring food in.
Paige glanced at the food; it was rich and all things she liked.
Henry smiled and said, "These should all be your favorites."
Seeing Paige not moving, he asked, "What’s wrong? Don’t you still like it?"
Paige said coldly, "You’re tying me up, how am I supposed to eat?"
Henry seemed to just notice, but instead of releasing Paige, he said, "It’s okay, I’ll feed you."
Paige frowned, "No need."
Henry said, "You can’t eat by yourself right now."
"So you’re not planning to untie me?"
Henry said, "You’re too disobedient, if I untie you, you’ll do something stupid again."
After saying that, Henry picked up the chopsticks, "This is your only choice, so eat quickly, or you’ll just have to go hungry."
In any case, he had no intention of untying Paige.
Paige turned her head away, Henry said, "I thought you should know what it means to bow under the eaves."
Paige gave a sarcastic laugh.
Henry looked helpless, "You really won’t eat what I feed you?"
Seeing Paige’s determined look, Henry said, "It’s not like I haven’t fed you like this before, what are you fussing about?"
Paige still ignored him, so he said, "Call me when you want to eat, I’m always available."
Then he sat on the side calmly, thinking Paige wouldn’t hold out for long, especially not over food.
But this time, Paige actually persisted.
It was Henry who couldn’t stand it first, worried she would go hungry.
"Paige, can’t you just soften up to me? As soon as you do, you can have whatever you want."
Paige said, "I don’t need anything gained from yielding to you."
Henry looked at her, "Do you dislike me that much?"
"Why ask a question you already know the answer to? If I didn’t dislike you, should I like you instead?"
Henry Hale sighed, lately, he found himself sighing more and more.
"I know it’s hard for you to trust me in a short time, but I thought you could try to slowly trust me a little. I shouldn’t disappoint you."
Paige Sterling, "...heh."
Henry didn’t know how to persuade her anymore, sometimes Paige was really impenetrable.
"Paige, I hope you can think carefully about the future and not make a hasty decision."
Then he reached out and patted Paige’s head.
Paige couldn’t dodge, and coldly said, "Mr. Hale, you’d better keep your hands to yourself."
"I can’t help it," Henry said. "I always can’t resist wanting to be close to you."
Paige was too lazy to continue the topic with him and asked, "Where has Julian Hawthorne chased us to?"
Henry’s brows furrowed for a moment, then he smiled, a smile that didn’t reach his eyes.
"Paige, why do you always mention people I don’t want to mention in front of me? Are you trying to provoke me?" 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢
Being from affluent backgrounds, Henry and Julian were previously like neither steppes encroaching on the other’s waters. Those who excel are always appreciative of others equally excellent.
Henry used to admire Julian a lot, never feeling any jealousy towards him.
But ever since Julian and Paige got together, hearing about their love drove him crazy with jealousy.
Jealous of Julian for having such a woman, jealous of Julian for being by her side.
He felt he wasn’t much different from Julian, so why was it Julian whom Paige chose?
If given a chance, could he also have Paige?
Even though that possibility was slim, Henry was willing to give it a try.
"Paige, no matter what you think, you must understand one thing: As long as I’m alive, I will never let you and Julian have a future. Your future can only be with me, even if you die, you can only die in my arms."
Paige was not touched at all, just looked coldly at Henry as if looking at a lunatic.
In her view now, Henry seemed no different from a lunatic.
And this indifference from Paige made Henry even more dissatisfied.
Suddenly, he stared at Paige’s shoes.
From the time he took her away until now, Paige hadn’t changed those shoes. If it hadn’t been thoroughly checked and confirmed to be just a pair of ordinary shoes, Henry would suspect there was something fishy about them.
Earlier, when he accidentally scrolled through the phone, he discovered that Paige had shown off these shoes online, apparently with a logo personally designed by Julian.
So that’s why Paige kept wearing these shoes?
He wanted to give Paige everything, but Paige couldn’t care less.
And yet Julian’s gift of a pair of lousy shoes, she couldn’t bear to throw away.
Jealousy drove Henry irrational, and when Paige didn’t even have time to react, he quickly grabbed Paige’s shoes, walked to the window, and smiled at her.
"You’ve worn these shoes long enough, the leather is torn, throw them away, and let me get you a new pair."
Paige didn’t know what madness he was on about now and said casually, "Whatever."
She wasn’t about to waste words over a pair of shoes with Henry. She had plenty, all custom-made by Julian.
She genuinely didn’t care, and Henry hesitated whether to throw them away.
He asked Paige, "Weren’t these a gift from Julian? And you won’t hold it against me if I just throw them away?"
"What’s there to argue with an imbecile?"
Paige smiled faintly, "They’re just a pair of shoes, if you like them, take them, just don’t flaunt your intelligence in front of me."
Henry didn’t feel at all that he had threatened Paige. He put down the shoes and sat on the edge of the bed again, looking at Paige, "Paige, maybe you don’t care about Julian as much as you think, you are just deceived by appearances, and think that you love Julian."
Paige, "I don’t need you to tell me what love is, you are not worthy."
"Everyone has the right to love, even if I am a villain," Henry said.
"But others can choose whether to love you, the villain," Paige retorted sharply. Towards Henry, she didn’t feel obliged to be kind. "Please stay away from me, don’t contaminate my eyes."
"I won’t..." Henry instead moved closer, relying on Paige being tied up and unable to do anything about it. But he didn’t expect Paige to kick him away directly.
Henry fell to the ground, face full of helplessness, "Can’t you be a bit gentler?"
"When you die, I’ll be sure to send you off with the gentlest smile."
Henry stood up, looking at Paige, "Paige, I’m out of patience."
He said, "If you have to see my cruelest side to learn to submit, then I don’t mind showing you."
Seeing Paige still wore an indifferent attitude, Henry suddenly instructed the bodyguards: "Untie her and take her away."
Then he went out first.
The bodyguards followed Henry’s instructions, untied Paige’s ropes, and were about to lead her away.
Paige calmly said, "I can walk by myself."
Then she stood up and followed behind Henry.
She had been kept in the room by Henry, and being able to come out to walk around and see the situation was not bad.
Henry saw that even at this moment, she was still so calm, completely unaware of what was about to happen, and frowned, saying, "Paige, it’s not too late."
Paige glanced at him and instead walked past him, leading the way.
For a moment, Henry didn’t know what to say.
