Chapter 76: Fushang Territory

Fushang Forest

Shortly after being transported safely to the forest by his maid, Ye Ming took a deep breath. He thought it would be a breath of fresh air, but soon, he realized how wrong he was.

Compared to the air within the Eternal Celestial Dimension and the flying ship, he felt the current air was full of impurities.

Think of it being like breathing an air quality of 39 and then all of a sudden, breathing an air quality of 200-300 something.

"Damn, how was one supposed to breathe in this air quality?" Ye Ming frowned and covered his nose. Alas, it didn’t help one bit, prompting him to directly call out the Heavenly Dao.

When the Heavenly Dao was called out, it was nearly shocked to death. After all, Ye Ming’s existence in its world was akin to an emperor suddenly visiting a humble village home without any disguise or announcement.

It was a good thing that the Heavenly Dao was an intangible being and could only communicate through sound transmission to avoid alerting any other living beings.

Soon, Ye Ming explained his predicament, and the Heavenly Dao was happy to change the air quality for him specifically.

Of course, the air quality that Ye Ming breathed in was now connected with his own HD who circulated the air quality from his flying ship to him.

Finally, Ye Ming’s brows relaxed upon no longer feeling disgusted. He then waved his hand and dismissed the Heavenly Dao.

The Heavenly Dao didn’t even bother to linger further and acted as if Ye Ming wasn’t present. During the air circulation, Ye Ming’s HD had already informed it about his intention, so there was no need for it to linger around.

Once the small issue was resolved, Ye Ming stretched his arms and glanced around the surroundings.

"Now this is what I called adventuring and experiencing the world." He muttered and felt like he had become a protagonist of some transmigration theme novel.

He began to wander around aimlessly for a while to feel the atmosphere of the Fushang Forest.

Time went by, and Ye Ming realized something was amiss.

"Where are the monsters?" He raised an eyebrow and opened a projected screen. This projected screen was undetected and invisible to others.

Within the projected screen, there were many colored dots scattered around.

Green dots indicate friendly, red dots indicate enemy and gray dots indicate neutral.

Currently, there are no green dots. There were only gray and red dots.

Ye Ming wanted to interact with some people to get some understanding of the current state. After all, this was how one should do to explore a new environment rather than having his maid deducing everything.

Where would the fun be if he knew everything? 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖

As he scanned the screen, Ye Ming spotted a few gray dots surrounded by numerous red dots. His eyes lit up and realized it was time for him to flex some muscles.

’Heh, should I pose as some mysterious big shot or a profound senior?’ Ye Ming rubbed his chin softly. So many options to choose from.

Nevertheless, he proceeded to create a navigation guide as he walked toward the situation while pondering which kind of cultivator he wanted to become.

...

"Tao Wang, how much longer do you need to form your spells? I’m at my wit ends soon." A man dressed in a casual robe asked with a difficult expression.

"Don’t rush Junior Sister Tao Wang, Chu Dong! Let her concentrate well." Another man suddenly interrupted and gnashed their teeth.

"Rong Bai, you think I want to rush her?" Chu Dong cursed in anger. He knew Rong Bai was interested in Tao Wang, but now was not the time to earn some favor points.

"Then do you think rushing her would make it faster?" Rong Bai responded disdainfully.

Instead of saving their energy to stop the monsters from advancing, Chu Dong still decided to rush Tao Wang who was their key point to break through their predicament.

Chu Dong naturally understood the concept, but how could he not be worried?

This was a life-and-death situation!

One wrong move or a delay and he would be swarmed by these ferocious monsters.

’I knew I should have stayed and waited for Master to return.’ Chu Dong cursed silently and realized how ridiculous it was to attempt to travel in Fushang Forest with their weak cultivation base.

Ever since the Fushang Territory was declared the neutrality between the two major factions, the Fushang Forest had mutated and undergone many changes.

Nowadays, the monsters living at Fushang Forest all have strength equivalent to Core Formation and Nascent Soul Realm.

After all, the spiritual qi in this region was the highest compared to the rest of the world and became the only suitable place for cultivators to cultivate.

A few minutes later, Tao Wang panted heavily and exclaimed, "Senior brothers, my spells are completed. Move aside now!"

Upon hearing that, both Chu Dong and Rong Bai glanced at each other. They nodded and mustered 80 percent of their strength to knock the monsters back before retreating to a distance.

The monsters were propelled back, but it was only for a brief moment. Their ferocity and killing intent rose to a new height as they charged ahead. Without any more obstacles, their eyes glinted in a cold light.

Tao Wang’s expression remained unchanged as she faced the monsters.

"Take my Earth Pulse!" She shouted and unleashed a powerful wave of spiritual qi.

The ground beneath them vibrated heavily, and the monsters were soon affected by the pulsation. The weaker ones directly had their internal organs imploded from the inside while the stronger ones became severely injured.

Earth Pulse was equivalent to a mental attack—one that targeted the internal organs of their opponents. It required a tremendous amount of spiritual qi to supply as the pulsation needed them to gather and be unleashed for a deadly impact.

Due to that, the backlash was quite severe as Tao Wang’s facial complexion turned pale. She was exhausted from the usage of Earth Pulse, and her two Senior Brothers quickly went to her.

ROAR!

Suddenly, a large monster that resembled a tiger growled thunderously. It was vigorous and lively, its eyes staring at the three cultivators.

"This is—" Chu Dong’s eyes widened in shock and disbelief at the new appearance of another calamity monster level.

"Red Demon Tiger with the strength of a Nascent Soul. Just what is our luck." Rong Bai’s mouth twitched repeatedly after recognizing the enemy.

Tao Wang smiled bitterly once she came to a realization. "No wonder the monsters chasing us were so coordinated. It was controlled by the Red Demon Tiger and it had been hiding until now."

Without a doubt, the Red Demon Tiger was a cautious type.

It didn’t directly attack them but used its subordinates to weaken them. Additionally, it didn’t dare to risk being injured or killed, having only dared to show itself after sensing Tao Wang’s life aura was no longer powerful.

A look of despair flashed across all three of their faces.

Amidst the tense atmosphere, one person did the unthinkable.

"I’m sorry, Junior Sister!" Chu Dong shouted and pushed Tao Wang to the front, essentially offering her to the Red Demon Tiger.

He didn’t bother pushing Rong Bai because considering the latter’s feelings, Rong Bai was certainly going to rush to her protection.

And even if he didn’t, it wouldn’t matter much. Rong Bai’s decision was either to save Tao Wang at the cost of his life or flee as well.

After all, Tao Wang was currently the weakest now that she had expended her spiritual qi from using Earth Pulse.

"CHU DONG! YOU BASTARD!" Rong Bai shouted in fury upon seeing Tao Wang have been pushed to the front. Despite his anger though, his foot was frozen, almost as if he had been stunned.

Of course, that wasn’t the case. It was simply because Rong Bai knew that the current distance between him and Tao Wang was too far.

If he advanced forward and stepped into the lethal zone of the Red Demon Tiger, then his life would be over.

Amidst his predicament with his inner self, Tao Wang’s eyes were slightly moist. She could have never imagined her Senior Brother Chu Dong was so ruthless in using her as bait to save themselves.

As for Rong Bai, when Tao Wang noticed his hesitation, she already knew deep down what he cared about the most.

’Indeed, cultivation is a path of ruthlessness, wrought with many tragedies.’ Tao Wang closed her eyes and was ready to accept her fate. She knew her condition best.

She had long expended her treasures and without much spiritual qi left in her body, there was nothing else she could do to resist the Red Demon Tiger.

Sure enough, Rong Bai ultimately apologized with tears seeping through his eyes as he adhered to Chu Dong’s warning. He turned around and began to flee with all his might.

The Red Demon Tiger noticed their retreats and snorted. It growled toward his subordinates to give chase while his eyes remained locked on Tao Wang.
