The Heavenly Dao System-Chapter 98: Equivalent Exchange
Despite knowing she was practically exposed to the process, Lin Loi’s gaze remained fixated on Ye Ming. She didn’t even bother to cover herself or scream in a panic.
"Why did you help me?" She asked curiously. She knew there was no such thing as a free lunch in this world. And based on Ye Ming’s capability just now, it was obvious that he was even more skillful than her Masters.
Thus, the question came to her mind.
Why would he help her?
As far as she could recount, she had never done anything worthy to receive such a reward.
Or could it be that he was after her body?
That wouldn’t make sense either. Despite his lecherous behavior from earlier, he never actually made a move toward her. Of course, he did squeezed and spanked Jia Xing’s buttock, but that was about it.
Had it been any other male cultivators, Jia Xing would have long been pounded to no end without any mercy.
"Consider it an equivalent exchange." Ye Ming chuckled and reminded her of the memory orb.
To him, the memory orb and upcoming drama were way more interesting than cleansing the impurities dwelling within Lin Loi’s body.
To her, it might have been troublesome and almost impossible to deal with. But to him, it was as easy as lifting his finger up.
"I understand." Lin Loi took a deep breath and nodded.
"I’ll contact the Blue Wind Sect Leader to make haste to see his judgment of the situation. Almost every prominent sect would make their way over here to seek talented alchemists to join their affiliation anyway." She explained.
Even without needing to contact them, they were going to show up sooner or later. However, precisely because Ye Ming had assisted her dearly, she knew the so-called equivalent exchange must be repaid.
"Is there anything else you want?" She then asked cautiously. She doubted that this matter alone could be enough to repay him.
"No, that’s all." Contrary to her expectation, Ye Ming waved his hand and pointed at the destruction of room 3.
"This room is in shambles, so let’s just call it even. Also, I did injure some of the men in your Justice Hall because they were trying to interrupt the process. I’m sure you know how to deal with the aftermath, right?"
Nodding, Lin Loi naturally understood the commotion made earlier. It was just that she was not in a state to intervene whatsoever.
Sometime later, Lin Loi called for Sha Wong and explained the situation.
Sha Wong’s expression constantly changed when he heard the events. In the end, he went on his knees and apologized to Ye Ming.
"Sorry, Senior Dao. I didn’t know you were assisting the city lord."
Just when Ye Ming was about to respond, two threatening aura emerged from the sky.
Sha Wong panicked internally when he knew who were the people.
"Senior Shu and Senior Cheng, please wait!" Sha Wong rose to the sky and called out to them.
Previously, the situation was extreme and upon waking up from his consciousness, he hurriedly requested help from the two Seniors.
Who would have thought it was a false alarm from the beginning?
A brief moment later, the threatening aura resided and the people nearby were dumbfounded by the situation.
"Was that Senior Shu and Senior Cheng’s aura?"
"Was there an attack?"
"No, it could be a spar, but this is quite peculiar."
The crowd was startled by their presence, but upon seeing the Justice Hall members giving some explanation that they were testing their disciple. Many soon laughed in understanding and returned to their business.
Without needing to specify much, they were certain that the two Seniors were testing the appointed city lord.
Although not many people had seen her appearance or heard of her name, they did know about her status and reputation.
It had only been some years since the two Masters declared publicly that they had a joint disciple and she would be the bridge to ensure peace and harmony in the world.
Thus, only those in the higher-ups had heard of the disciple in name. The younger generation or those within the same age as the disciple in name were still clueless about her.
While the matter was resolved to the public, in another large room in the Justice Hall, Gong Shu and Mo Cheng were checking on Lin Loi’s condition.
"Unbelievable." Mo Cheng muttered in astonishment.
"This is really unprecedented. Not only were there impurities within her body, but she also broke through in 2 levels." Gong Shu chimed in. He was the most shocked one because he failed to deduce there was such a problem within his disciple.
"Little Loi, do you still feel that restraint you mentioned to us a few years ago?" Mo Cheng suddenly asked.
Lin Loi shook her head and replied, "No, Master Cheng. I can tell the restraint has been dispelled and I can absorb spiritual qi faster than ever."
To demonstrate her words, she began to circulate her spiritual core and greedily absorb the surrounding spiritual qi.
The rate of her absorption was abnormally fast.
A few seconds later, she stopped absorbing greedily and returned to the normal rate. At the same time, her eyes were glued to a figure who was lying in a rectangular seat.
Mo Cheng and Gong Shu noticed she was staring at Ye Ming, who was extremely casual by the side. Their expression was rather complicated as they came to realize they were inferior to Ye Ming.
"Stop staring at me. If you have something in mind, then just say it aloud." Ye Ming said.
"Um, do you mind if I ask how you cure my disciple’s predicament?" Mo Cheng was the first to ask.
"That’s simple. Skill issue."
"Uh..."
"What? Don’t tell me you always go into details and be elaborate when someone requests your help?"
After hearing that, Mo Cheng went silent. Indeed, he would be dissatisfied if he ever went to someone’s home personally to help them and they proceeded to bombard him with questions.
"I was rude, Senior Dao." He cupped his fist and apologized, having referred to him as Senior Dao. To continue to call Ye Ming as Daoist Dao was embarrassing for him.
