We exited the burial chamber and retraced our steps, following the route Galaxy led us on, back to the entrance of the cave.

With Professor Chen around, I didn’t need to remember the way. Of course, without him, remembering wouldn’t help; I’d surely get lost.

Upon leaving the ancient tomb, Wang Datou and Liu Laonian hugged each other and wept bitterly. Before coming here, they thought tomb raiding was simple, like digging up graves, and imagined the treasure to be stored like cabbage, potatoes, and radishes in a cellar. They thought they just needed to find the entrance, go down, and grab it.

Crying, Liu Laonian left his last words, asking Wang Datou to take care of his elderly mother in the countryside. Wang Datou agreed wholeheartedly and begged the young people not to call the police. He had a wife and kids to support; if he got arrested, his wife would surely divorce him, remarry with his son, and his son would become someone else’s child.

Wang Datou was thinking far ahead, and the young man thought for a moment and nodded in agreement to let the matter drop. I guessed he also didn’t want anyone to know about the tomb.

If Wang Datou got caught, he’d have to confess about the tomb in the first trial, and that would bring an archaeological team.

Chen Qinghan had already messaged his superiors, reporting the matter of the Different Space’s door; the department would send people to investigate and handle the negative energy leak.

The young man, being a descendant of the tomb’s owner, seemed indifferent to his ancestors’ affairs. Apart from looking at the murals, he had no other actions and didn’t even inquire about the coffin or the tomb owner.

Generally, even out of curiosity, people would ask about their ancestors and any legendary experiences they had.

But the young man didn’t ask anything. Even if he didn’t know where the key and map pointed at first, he surely realized after entering the tomb. He only chased after Wang Datou and the others to retrieve the key, not caring that the tomb seemed to be raided. Isn’t that odd?

"You won’t die; you’re lucky. If the hospital can’t save you, someone else can." Chen Qinghan said, seeing Liu Laonian crying endlessly and considering having Wang Datou dig a pit to bury him, spoke with a laugh.

"What? I-I can be saved?" Liu Laonian widened his eyes in disbelief.

"Yes, hurry up, should be in time." Chen Qinghan wouldn’t joke about it, his serious tone indicating there really was a way to save Liu Laonian.

"Ah! Hurry, hurry up, let’s go!" Originally weak and limp, Liu Laonian heard he could be saved, and immediately jumped up, quickly darting to the front as if eager to rush out of the forest.

"Strange, why did she let them go so easily? Should’ve silenced them." I muttered to myself at a normal speaking volume, deliberately letting Wang Datou and Liu Laonian hear.

"Don’t! We definitely won’t tell anyone about Madam Zongzi. Today... today we didn’t enter any ancient tomb, just got lost in the old forest."

"Yes, yes, he was greedy and ate poisonous mushrooms, getting food poisoning."

The two concocted nonsense with bitter expressions. They seemed quite afraid of me, never daring to meet my eyes.

The masked man mistook me for an Evil Ghost escaped from the Different Space, showing how frightening I must have looked. They certainly wouldn’t believe the indigestion excuse, most likely considering me as... well, I suppose I really was.

"Alright, remember what you said; otherwise, no matter where you hide, she will find you." I smiled sinisterly.

"Definitely, definitely!"

The two took a lap around the tomb, frightened and startled, without gaining a penny. Their current wish was likely just to survive.

You can’t finish the road out of the forest in one day, so the young man stole food and water from the masked man’s backpack. Wang Datou and Liu Laonian left their bread and sausages in the tomb and wanted to buy the young man’s food. The young man seized the opportunity, selling a pack of biscuits for two hundred, a bottle of water for one hundred fifty.

At these prices, by the time we were out of the forest, he would have earned back the sixteen hundred that Galaxy extorted from him.

Walking in the forest was particularly exhausting, and food and water were essential.

We had food in our backpacks too, mainly chocolates and vitamin tablets, which provided energy and nutrition but not fullness, so Wang Datou and Liu Laonian didn’t care for them.

Chen Qinghan asked them if they needed to go back to where they parked to get their car. The two grinned sheepishly, saying they didn’t have a car; they had hitched a sand truck to the nearby road and then walked over.

The two saw the other’s gear and weapons and feared refusing would lead to them being silenced on the spot, so they had to agree to work together.
