The Informal Tomb Raiding Diary: She is the occupant of the tomb!-Chapter 287 - 262: Strong Medicine for Strong Bodies_3
On the other hand, Baozi and Ke’er keep an eye on people’s online profiles every day, and they’ll definitely tell me whenever there’s new content.
Maybe my reaction was too indifferent, Baozi finally misunderstood, she secretly texted Chen Qinghan, saying I was angry, sulking, and possibly preparing for a cold war with him.
Chen Qinghan messaged shortly after, reiterating Baozi’s conjectures.
I sent a shrug emoji back, it’s easy to create a story, but overturning it might take some time, as it involves the issue of my real identity, I have a lot of concerns, and Chen Qinghan never mentioned clearing things up, so the two of us can only continue this fake relationship.
If all else fails, I’ll just play the heartless zongzi, first bored, then abandon, but this needs Chen Qinghan’s cooperation.
The car entered the Central Plains, and my thoughts shifted back to business. I checked the local news, but there was nothing important. Instead, a post on the local forum caught my interest.
The poster claimed a film city there was haunted, with shadows flitting about at midnight but no footprints on the ground.
Someone who had been there said it was a newly constructed film city, claiming the poster was fabricating stories, and the place was nice, unlike a haunted house.
After several days, someone replied, confirming the poster wasn’t lying. The new reply mentioned their brother was part of the construction team and that during the building of the film city, workers encountered the same situation the poster described—shadows floating around without footprints, like a black mist but human-shaped.
The post had dozens of replies, with the last edit three months ago, adding no new content.
Most replies were from onlookers, probably due to the low activity in the local forum, so the post didn’t cause much of a stir and quickly sank.
There weren’t many posts in the forum, mostly advertisements and some inquiries about travel experiences.
I checked the coordinates given by Zhaosi, enlarged the map on my phone several times, and indeed, the tomb she occupied was right under the film city.
It’s probably quite deep, not discovered during the construction above. Most buildings in the film city are one-story, with earthen city walls and gates, and earthen kilns and brick houses, and the gatehouse is only two or three stories high.
But before the project started, there should have been surveys and detections, I’m not sure why they didn’t discover the ancient tomb underground.
"A tourist spot, you can enter with a ticket, leave it to me." Shunfeng, seeing the destination was a tourist attraction, took out his phone to book tickets online.
"Will there be surveillance cameras in the tourist spot? Is it okay to go down during the day?" Baozi asked worriedly.
"We can enter in the morning and leave before closing!" Wen Jing suggested.
At this time, we were still fifty kilometers away from the film city, arriving right at closing time.
"Let’s go in tomorrow morning, find a place to settle down today."
This time out, I’m the leader, making the important decisions. It was a detour to go to the nearest village, so I chose an open area and had Baozi drive the car to the edge of the field.
Every place has its background color, here it’s ochre, though there are mountains and trees, the base color remains that ancient and heavy yellow.
"It’s said this film city is poorly managed and is about to go bankrupt." Shunfeng, using some source, found this information and showed it to us on his phone.
"Desolate, losing businesses..." Wen Jing read a few phrases and said, "That’s even better, fewer people watching makes it easier to act."
"Fu, what about the tools? Since it’s a tourist spot, we can’t bring tools in."
The tools Baozi mentioned were ’weapons’ she bought during the trip, she only said she was going out with Shunfeng to shop, and returned with both of them carrying large travel bags filled with axes, shovels, hammers, and electric saws.
Asked them to return them but they refused, so they just stayed there gathering dust.
It was then I suddenly remembered, Chen Qinghan didn’t mention I was visiting ’old friends,’ and I didn’t tell them there were people in the tomb, only that I was retrieving something.
They automatically assumed we were going to rob a tomb. Shunfeng and Wen Jing weren’t bothered, having seen plenty of terrifying creatures last time, but Baozi had never seen a zongzi, she only looked at murals and inscriptions after a crypt was cleaned.
So I told her, there’s no need to bring tools, someone inside the tomb would open the door for us.
That night, Baozi was too excited to sleep, chatting on the phone with Ke’er, not sleeping until 1 a.m.
The next day, with eyes barely open from tiredness, yawning continuously, we entered the tourist spot.
