Betrayal

Initially, they had thought that Xi Wan was taking revenge on Jiang Ran for kicking her out of the school. However, after eating the food that she’d bought, their hearts gradually leaned towards her.

Yang Xi felt very embarrassed as she listened to these people’s discussions. However, when she thought about how she couldn’t lose her job, she still continued on until she was standing in front of Xi Wan.

“Sis, when you guys were having an argument today, I went to Jiang Ran’s staff to get some information. I know that you guys don’t get along well, so I wanted to ask about her schedule and plans so that we could take resources from her,” she said.

Xi Wan sneered in response. “And when did I tell you to find out about Jiang Ran’s next move? Besides, I don’t need to compete with her for resources; if the resources are mine, they won’t run away. If the resources don’t like me, it means that the people involved have bad taste. Next time, if you’re going to come up with an excuse, make up a better one.”

The staff lowered their voices as they ate and quietly listened to the conversation between the two of them.

From the plot that the system had given her, Xi Wan already knew that this assistant named Yang Xi had seen the host getting criticized every day on the internet. She’d felt that the host might not be able to hold on for long, so she reached out to Jiang Ran, wanting to sell out the host in exchange for a chance to work beside Jiang Ran.

Now that Yang Xi had turned around to look for her, lowered herself, and tried her best to come up with a flimsy excuse, it could only mean one thing: Yang Xi didn’t get any benefits from Jiang Ran, so she had no choice but to come back and continue working for her.

Yang Xi did not know that Xi Wan had become an investor; she only thought that Xi Wan’s previous words were said out of anger. She felt that Xi Wan only had the right to sit with Song Kai and the others because of her financial backer.

Now, Yang Xi was extremely regretful over her actions. She felt that Xi Wan must have deliberately hid the fact that she had a sugar daddy to back her, having never revealed any of this information to her. If she had known earlier, she would not have betrayed Xi Wan.

Now that she knew she was in the wrong and wanted to work by Xi Wan’s side, why couldn’t Xi Wan give her a chance? Who hasn’t made mistakes before!

The more Yang Xi thought about it, the more aggrieved she felt. Her eyes turned red and she began to play the victim card. “Sis, I just graduated from college. It wasn’t easy for me to get this job. I don’t have much work experience and it’s only natural that I might make mistakes. Sis, can’t you just give me a chance?”

Xi Wan scoffed. “If you had made a mistake because of your carelessness, I could give you a chance no matter how many times you slip up. But what kind of mistake did you make? You took the salary I gave you, but you sold my information and joined forces with someone else to destroy me. Now that your job-hopping plan has failed, you’re still planning to continue working here?”

“What, do you think I’m an idiot? With your qualifications, you’re not even qualified to be my assistant. I just wanted to give you a chance since you’ve just graduated, and this is how you repay me?”

As she said that, Xi Wan did not forget to say, “You used to be of some value to Jiang Ran if you were by my side. But now that I’ve fired you, you’re completely useless to Jiang Ran. No one in the industry will dare to use you anymore. Alright, don’t stay here anymore. Go away.”

Xi Wan’s words shocked Yang Xi. She felt that Xi Wan was right. Her life was probably over.

Her tears fell from her eyes. This time, she was not acting. She was really scared.

“Sis, I really know I was wrong. I promise I won’t do it again. Can you give me a second chance?”

Xi Wan looked at Song Kai impatiently. “Call security and take her away.

Song Kai had wanted to make a move for a while now, but when he heard Xi Wan’s words, he immediately pulled Yang Xi up. “Don’t stay here and delay Miss Xi’s meal. Please leave.”

With that, he led Yang Xi out of the room and ordered the security guards not to let her in.

While this was happening, Brother Chen called Xi Wan’s lawyer, Fang Heng, after some hesitation.

“Hello, I’m Fang Heng,” the voice answered.

The crisp voice from the other end of the phone made Brother Chen nervous.
