The King of Urban Mercenaries-Chapter 1343 - 1346: Sunset at Dusk
The night was silent, but Lin Fei’s voice kept resonating. He continued to speak until Doudou fell asleep. Lin Fei still had much to say, but since Doudou was asleep, he chose not to disturb him further.
"I wonder what Qingfeng has prepared." Lin Fei guessed as he walked towards Qingfeng’s room. He knocked on the door, and Qingfeng’s voice came from inside.
"Come in."
Lin Fei pushed the door open, but immediately saw a girl with a snow-white body and a stunning figure, her slender waist...
"Qingfeng, what are you doing?" Lin Fei was shocked and just about to step back when Qingfeng grabbed him and pulled him inside, closing the door...
By the next day, Lin Fei was missing...
Qingfeng looked at the stark white bed sheets and the vividly red "flower," with a resolute gaze, muttered, "Brother Lin Fei, I will wait for you, wait for you to come back. If you don’t return in a year, I’ll wait for ten years. If not ten, then a hundred years. If not a hundred, then five hundred years!"
"Hmm...?"
Lin Fei slowly opened his eyes and looked around, discovering that he was surrounded by senior brothers?
Liu Muqing smiled at Lin Fei, extending a hand, and said, "Brother, you slept for... fifteen minutes, quite fast. Did the mirror give you any inspiration?"
Lin Fei took Liu Muqing’s hand, stood up smoothly, and said, "Am I back to reality now? Was it all a dream just now?"
Liu Muqing nodded and said, "Not entirely. As you think in the day, so you dream at night. This is a dream, but everything has a spirit. The Spirit Realm has its own spirit, taking you somewhere unknown to us. Whether it’s a dream or not, you’ll have to think for yourself. Oh, Master wants you to go over immediately after waking up!"
"I understand, I’ll go right away. Thank you, everyone, for your help!" Lin Fei said, then hurriedly ran towards the distant Qingfeng Building.
As Lin Fei ran, he pondered. This dream was definitely a dream, no matter how he saw it. The Beidou Sect’s buildings, he couldn’t possibly have built them; he must’ve imagined them, or he wouldn’t have had such strange dreams.
However, thinking of Qingfeng’s matter, Lin Fei felt it wasn’t a dream, dwelling on its reality, not a false dream, leaving him at a loss.
Reality and dreams intertwined—perhaps this was exactly what Lin Fei was experiencing.
In any case, he finally seemed to understand why Qingfeng treated him that way, perhaps the Spirit Realm’s answer for him.
Thinking of that adorable girl by his side, both stubborn and persistent, and foolish to the point she offered herself to him as he left, making Lin Fei feel he owed Qingfeng too much.
Although their time together wasn’t long, during the dream, Lin Fei clearly remembered young Qingfeng’s appearance, unexpectedly discovering that she had actually waited for him for five hundred years!
Lin Fei arrived at Qingfeng’s room, seeing Qingfeng sitting on the bed, her face glowing, clearly a sign of imminent demise. Lin Fei sighed and said, "Qingfeng, why are you so foolish!"
Upon hearing Lin Fei’s words, Qingfeng trembled and actually walked down from the bed herself, approached Lin Fei, touched his face, and said, "Brother, you finally remembered me..."
Lin Fei nodded and said, "I remember, I remember everything."
"Brother!"
Qingfeng directly rushed into Lin Fei’s embrace. The Dou Sect Master and several others left the room, leaving Qingfeng Building in silence. They knew this might be Qingfeng Master’s final moments, and these moments should belong to Lin Fei.
"Qingfeng, do you remember five hundred years ago when I often took you to watch the sunset on top of Qingfeng Building? Would you like me to take you?" Lin Fei asked.
"But I can’t walk anymore..." Qingfeng said.
Lin Fei smiled, bent down to pick Qingfeng up, and carried her to the top of Qingfeng Building. Gently placing Qingfeng down, watching the setting sun, he spoke, "Remember when Qingfeng Building was just completed?"
Qingfeng nodded and said, "I remember. How could I forget? At that time, you asked me for its name, and even though I didn’t speak, you named it after me, right."
Lin Fei nodded. These memories were very clear to him because he had just experienced them and remembered them vividly, but he hadn’t thought reality and the dream were identical.
"You really shouldn’t have waited for me so long, after all..."
"I have no regrets!"
Lin Fei saw Qingfeng’s face full of wrinkles but with steadfast eyes. He sighed, embracing her, watching the sun gradually set until only a sliver of twilight remained on the horizon.
"Qingfeng, do you remember the night I left? We watched the stars together here." Lin Fei asked.
"I remember... but... this time... seems like I’ll have to go... go first..." Qingfeng said.
"You can’t go! I can’t let you wait for me again, you understand? You can’t go!" Lin Fei said.
"I’m sorry... Brother... I’m tired, let me rest for a while..." Qingfeng said, her breath growing fainter.
A deep sense of compassion welled up in Lin Fei’s heart. He sighed, "Alright! Alright! Sleep, I’ll hold you, ensuring you won’t feel cold, sleep..."
As the last rays of twilight fell, the stars began to twinkle in the sky. Lin Fei looked at the darkened sky, feeling his tears inadvertently flowing down, unable to be controlled. In his arms was a woman willing to wait for him for five hundred years! He had never known, always thinking it was a dream? But that was not reality!
Lin Fei felt heartache...
The next day, the news of Qingfeng Master’s death spread throughout Manshan, and an obituary was issued. Everyone in Manshan, whether disciple or teacher, donned mourning garments. They were all disciples, and to be a master is as to be a parent, so it should be. Lin Fei did not, being one of the few exceptions.
His status was awkward, Qingfeng called him Brother, but he was also Qingfeng’s brother, which made him the Dou Sect Master’s disciple. Sentiment and reason made Lin Fei want to participate, but the Dou Sect Master opposed, thus he could only desist. 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞
Qingfeng Master’s death threw everyone into sorrow and made everyone’s heart ache. Yet, despite this, life went on. Lin Fei couldn’t shake off the sadness within, unconsciously wandering to a secluded place full of flowers, grasses, woods, and water—an extremely harmonious place.
The scenery was picturesque; if the scene were fixed, it would undoubtedly be a beautiful painting. Lin Fei arrived here, looking at the tranquil lake, and upon seeing the large rock below, he shuddered!
