The Lady's Butler: I Reincarnated To Serve The Villainess-Chapter 18: Welcome To The Royal Capital
Two days, thatβs how long the journey from the North to the royal capital usually took, and that was exactly how many days Adrian had before the Chapter that set his Renelle on the path of Villainy happened. ππ£π²ππ¨π²ππ»πΌπ―π²π.π°ππ¦
During the yearly royal ball.
If he left a day later, heβd miss the event, so he chose to depart the very day he arrived back at the Ardent mansion.
"Are you sure you donβt want to get some rest before leaving?" The coach, a man that seemed to be in his early twenties wearing a heavy fur coat, asked.
He was glancing at the cut on Adrianβs cheek that hadnβt quite healed yet.
Noticing his gaze, Adrian passed a finger on his cheek, coating it with shadow and the moment it passed over the wound, it disappeared as if it wasnβt there in the first place.
It was a healing technique per say, it was more accurate to call it a concealment technique, the wound was still there but hidden.
This also accelerated its healing since the layer of shadow pulled his mana directly towards that spot.
"Iβm fine," he then responded, "the earlier I depart, the earlier Iβll get to my Ladyβs side."
The coachman, a bit shocked at the fact that the kid just wiped the wound away, at least from his perspective, snapped out of it and nodded.
"I see," he said before opening the door which led into the carriage, allowing Adrian to walk in.
The moment he settled into the carriage, the Coachman closed the door and walked towards the coachβs seat, grabbing the leash that was tied around the necks the necks of large Frost Wolves...
Yes, the same beast that Adrian had previously fought. They were now being used as domesticated beasts used to pull carriages.
The coachman lightly tugged the leash and the beasts immediately started moving forward, through the gates of the Ardent estate and our the main North gates.
Adrian leaned by the window watching the scenery go by with an expressionless look on his face.
Compared to most lands owned by the four great nobles, you could say that the people of the North were relatively happy.
Yes there was hunger, and yes there were crimes, but all that was kept to a minimum and not a single resident could give a reason for hating Boreas Ardent.
All this would change when his wife died in his hands, forcing him to become more a tyrant than the ruler the North once knew.
Though, Adrian thoughts werenβt full of the Northβs current situation, nor the situation that wouldβve happened if he didnβt interfere.
Instead, there was only a single thought that repeated in his head over and over again,
βIβm finally going to meet my Renelle.β
He wasnβt sure if he was nervous at this thought, but one thing he was sure of was his excitement.
He had seen her in the manhwa more time than he could count, so much so that her features were permanently etched in his brain.
But seeing her through pages and actually seeing her were two different things and in just a few days, heβd actually be able to physically touch her.
Β«Lose the smile, itβs creeping me out,Β» Noctis, who was comfortably laying on the seat across him suddenly spoke up.
Adrian hadnβt even realized that there was a smile on his face until the cat, but instead of losing it, he only let out a chuckle.
"I wonder what she smells like," he added as he leaned on the window again, absentmindedly looking at the snow filled plains rush by.
He couldnβt wait to find out.

[Two Days Later]
The coachman, who had introduced himself as Felix, had a blank look on his face as he lightly tugged the leash, causing the beasts to slow down.
The reason for his expression?
Well, it was none other than the very monster that was currently sitting inside that carriage.
The young ladyβs butler.
During the first few hours of the journey, everything was going smoothly, just as usual.
The pack of wolves were enough to scare away any beasts that might want to stand in their paths, so Felix wasnβt too worried.
That is, until the beasts suddenly stopped, refusing to go any further.
It was a strange reaction at first, since there was nothing blocking their way but he soon realized how wrong he was was he looked before him.
At first, it looked like some sort of snow pile at the side of the road, but then, said pile started moving.
It stood up straight revealing its true form, it looked like some sort of deer, but far larger than any natural creature Felix had ever seen.
Its fur was completely white but it wasnβt unnatural since it was a creature of the North, the unnatural part were its horns.
Like the wolvesβ claws, it had crystal like horns which twisted like a ramβs.
The creatureβs glowing white eyes were locked directly into Felix who didnβt even dare let out a breath.
The Frost Wolves growled lowly, hackles raised, but they didnβt advance. Their instincts told them this was no ordinary beast.
They had encountered predators, yes, but nothing like this.
"Whyβd we stop ?" The carriage door opened, and out stepped Adrian.
He had been meditating when the carriage had stopped and they hadnβt resumed moving, so he stepped out to check what was wrong.
Before Felix could reply, Adrian suddenly lifted his palm before slowly turning in the direction where he wolves had been growling.
Felixβs eye went wide as he also turned towards it.
The deer had quickly closed the distance, but just before it could reach the Frost Wolves, it froze.
No, rather than freezing, it was more accurate to say that it was restrained.....by its own shadow?
"I have to get by my Renelleβs side as soon as possible, so I donβt appreciate any obstacle in the way."
With those words, Adrian closed his palm and the shadow wrapped completely around the deer before spikes came out the opposite end.
The deer didnβt even get a chance to make a sound and its life had been snuffed out.
Felix watched as Adrian calmly walked back into the carriage and closed the door, waiting for the journey to resume.
And that wasnβt the only time.
Similar situations had repeated itself throughout the journey and yet, this monster had dealt with them as if they were just minor inconveniences.
Felix, at this point, was more scared of the butler than he was of any beast they encountered, so he hadnβt dared stopped.
Even when he was sleepy, he still kept moving forward, afraid that heβd delay the Butlerβs meeting with his lady and end up like the beasts had.
But finally, they reached the gates of the capital where they both showed their credentials to the guards and were allowed through.
"Welcome to the Royal Capital," one of the guards said as they were allowed through.
