The Last Monarch : Unlimited Regeneration-Chapter 102: Poison
Brrruukk!
Lyrith suddenly collapsed. Alvaric caught her body, standing frozen for a few seconds in shock over what had just happened. His eyes were still a little blank.
He thought he was about to be killed just now. But he wasn't.
"What happened?" Alvaric asked in a flat tone.
**
Inside the Ant Bee nest, Alvaric carried Lyrith on his back. When he arrived at the main chamber, his eyes widened. Several members of Hollow Fang were lying on the ground. Their faces were pale, including Marie.
"What happened?"
Dion turned toward him. His face looked worried. "They've been poisoned too. What should we do?" he asked.
Not long after, blood dripped from Dion's left nostril. He wiped it with his hand. He looked anxious and terrified but tried to remain calm.
He even forced a smile. "Do you have an antidote?"
Alvaric shook his head. He didn't. He thought hard, but no clue came to mind. Alvaric lowered his head, opening his mouth to apologize.
"I…"
Before he could finish, Lyrith suddenly spoke. "Tamae. he has the antidote. We can ask her for it."
Alvaric was surprised. He thought Lyrith wouldn't regain consciousness so quickly. He felt relieved knowing she would be all right.
Dion stood up. "Tamae? She has the antidote? Where is she? Can you take me to her?"
Lyrith nodded weakly. "Yes."
**
Tamae, Brukk, and several doctors from Chillg City arrived at the Ant Bee nest. Tamae quickly gave orders, and the doctors began examining the bodies of the Hollow Fang members.
After checking their conditions, the doctors nodded.
"Can this be treated?" Tamae asked.
One of the doctors nodded. "Of course."
Hearing that, Tamae sighed in relief. Not only her. Alvaric, Dion, and the remaining conscious Hollow Fang members all looked relieved too.
Especially Dion, who was deeply relieved that his comrades would be saved. The safety of Hollow Fang's members was his responsibility. He was their leader.
But as he remembered those who had been killed by the Giant Sandworm, his face darkened. He hadn't completely succeeded in protecting them.
Noticing that, Alvaric patted Dion's shoulder. "You didn't fail. You fought well," he said. 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺
Dion turned to him and nodded before looking again at the Hollow Fang members being treated.
"Thank you," Dion said quietly. Since arriving in this world, he'd realized one thing—there were countless beings of terrifying strength. Especially after seeing the Giant Sandworm. The memory alone made him tremble. "If that creature appeared on Earth, it would destroy it. No one could stop it."
"Yeah, the Giant Sandworm is far too strong. Impossible to defeat, even for me."
Dion nodded. "Good thing you managed to escape. If you hadn't gotten into this place in time, you would've been that creature's next meal."
"No. The Giant Sandworm was defeated," Alvaric said calmly.
Dion nodded absently. "Oh, I see. It was…" Then his eyes widened. He turned sharply to Alvaric, staring in disbelief. "It was defeated? By who? How is that even possible? That's… that's absurd."
"Not me," Alvaric replied. He pointed toward Lyrith, who was playing with the Ant Bees at the other side of the chamber. "She's the one who killed the Giant Sandworm."
Dion turned to Lyrith, staring for a long while. He knew she was strong—he could feel the vast aura she emitted—but imagining her killing a creature as colossal as the Giant Sandworm was hard to believe.
Especially since she often acted like a playful child, unserious except in certain moments.
"Not only did she kill it, but she also destroyed its body within minutes," Alvaric added.
"In minutes?" Dion's eyes widened even more. He swallowed hard.
He looked at Lyrith again, imagining her true strength. Just thinking about it made his skin crawl; every hair on his body stood up.
"How strong is she?" Dion asked quietly.
Alvaric tilted his head, thinking for a moment. "I don't know. But one thing's certain—she's the most powerful being I've ever met. Maybe only a god could defeat her."
"You're comparing her to a god?"
Dion thought Alvaric was just exaggerating, but he wasn't. Alvaric truly meant it.
He didn't know what kind of creature had once defeated Lyrith, but he was sure that being was a god—one far above the winged beings. According to the books he'd read, there was only one entity more powerful than those winged ones, perhaps angels, the deity itself.
"She can only be..."
Before he could finish, Tamae interrupted.
"Someone's awake," Tamae said.
Dion and Alvaric both turned their heads. Tamae was pointing toward Lisse, who had just regained consciousness—though her face was still pale.
Seeing Lisse awake, Dion quickly walked over. His steps were hurried. He crouched and touched her forehead—her fever had gone down. That alone eased his heart.
"Thank goodness you're better," Dion said softly.
Lisse looked around, confused to see so many people there. Some were strangers—Tamae, Brukk, and the doctors from Chillg City. She observed them one by one, not surprised, since she knew she was in another world. Not on Earth.
Non-human beings were normal here. If she saw creatures like them back on Earth, she would've drawn her weapon instantly. But here, she wouldn't.
"What happened?" Lisse asked.
"You were poisoned," Dion replied.
Lisse glanced around again. Many Hollow Fang members were still lying pale on the floor. Some had blood trickling from their ears, eyes, or noses. Seeing that, she swallowed nervously.
"I was poisoned too?"
Dion nodded. "Yes, but the Giant Sandworm's toxin inside your body was less concentrated. That's why you recovered faster than the others."
Lisse nodded. She understood the situation now. Things had gotten worse than what she last remembered.
"Drink this," Tamae said, offering her a small cup of water.
Lisse nodded and accepted it. "Thank you."
Without hesitation, she drank it all and handed the cup back to Tamae. Of course, she was grateful for the help.
"How do you feel? Anything strange?" Tamae asked.
Lisse touched her body, trying to sense if something felt off. But she didn't feel anything unusual.
"I think I'm fine," she replied.
Tamae smiled. "Good. Looks like the medicine worked."
