The Legendary Programming Mage-Chapter 69: First Time (1) [Rewritten]
The sky had darkened faster than I’d expected. Thick clouds rolled in while Quincy and I were still admiring the newly built cabin. Before I could suggest heading back to the dorms, a soft patter of rain began, growing heavier with every passing second.
Quincy’s eyes glimmered as she tilted her head back, letting a few droplets kiss her face. "Looks like we get to test the roof already," she said, glancing at me. "Do you think it’ll hold?"
I raised my hand to shield my face. "Well, you did most of the building, so you should know better."
Come to think of it, what exactly was that thing she summoned?
Honestly... I couldn’t fathom how powerful Quincy truly was. Even Sylvia might be stronger than me.
Quincy narrowed her eyes for a long moment, then turned to me. "Shouldn’t we check it from inside?"
I blinked. "Oh~ that’s true."
The rain came down harder, turning the forest floor into a soggy, muddied carpet.
"Come on, before you catch a fever." She beckoned me with a wave, her tone light but firm.
I followed immediately, and as soon as I drew close, she clasped my hand securely. Somehow, it felt familiar, like I’d done this before.
Was it the previous Allen’s memories surfacing? Or something else?
My expression darkened as a certain thought crept in.
Quincy.
Did I even have the right to be this close to her?
If it were Sylvia, it would make sense, but I barely knew Quincy beyond the fragments I’d learned since my transmigration.
Without realizing it, I slipped my hand free from hers.
She merely glanced at me but stayed silent as we stepped into the cabin.
Inside, the cabin was surprisingly warm despite its rudimentary construction.
Quincy had fashioned a single large bed with foam and everything else a king-sized bed might have.
A neat stack of wooden planks lay in the corner, perfect for organizing supplies.
Outside, the rain drummed steadily on the roof, its muted rhythm weaving a strangely calming atmosphere.
The moment we entered, a cool shiver ran through me. Even hunters could get sick.
Quincy, who had gone deeper inside, tossed me a towel and a pair of slightly loose trousers.
"Thanks," I replied, though I somehow couldn’t bring myself to meet her eyes.
Sensing my mood, she approached, rising on her toes to slick my damp hair back.
"What?"
"Hehe, you look good even like this," she murmured in a cheeky, soothing tone, and somehow it worked.
For a heartbeat, I could see what everyone in our year saw in her.
Quincy was like a rainbow, bringing color wherever she went.
But that same rainbow had been destined to fade away in the original story.
Not in mine.
Hmm.
Why did I want to protect her so badly?
I was Allen Vanderbilt Park. I operated on benefits. Whatever didn’t benefit me wasn’t needed.
Perhaps it was this bod.
I ruffled my hair sharply. "Idiot."
It wasn’t my body. I’d changed since arriving in this world.
Deep down I was still me, but the people around me had strangely affected me. Maybe because, unlike my past life, they felt normal.
Quincy, who had gone to the bathroom, emerged wearing a white polo far larger than her frame.
I recognized that shirt anywhere. It was mine.
Quincy caught me staring and smiled shyly, her fingers fidgeting with the hem of the shirt. "Do I look weird?"
I studied her for a moment, then raised a thumb. "Perfect."
She chuckled before sitting beside me on the bed.
"This feels nice." She looked around the cabin, her eyes softening. "Just us, the rain, this little cabin... feels like we’re married already."
Feels like SAO. 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚
I couldn’t help but chuckle.
Who cared if everything in this world was originally meant for Allen Vanderbilt? He’d dumped his problems on me, so why couldn’t I take the good things too?
I wasn’t sure about my exact feelings for Quincy or even Sylvia, but I wanted them by my side, just like I wanted Beatrice too.
They were women I wanted as companions, and perhaps the same women whose deaths would drive me to the dark side. But that only proved how much they mattered to me.
The air was cold, but I felt oddly bold.
And it wasn’t just me. Quincy shifted closer, hugging her knees and leaning her head against my shoulder.
"Thanks, Al."
"Huh?" I muttered, tilting my head to meet her gaze.
She smiled warmly, nuzzling in further. "Because you changed, I didn’t have to go to the academy alone or have a breakdown. I don’t know what caused it, but if you’re being awkward because of that, please stop."
She buried her face into my shoulder, her voice muffled. "I love both this Allen and the other Allen, so just never leave me. You know I’m scared of being alone."
That’s right.
The only setting they gave Quincy in the novel.
Her parents had left her, and only her brother stayed by her side. That was why she was always so kind, to make sure no one would leave her.
I placed a steadying hand on her head. "I won’t leave you, no matter what."
I didn’t want to spout empty words or scam her with promises. Maybe that’s why I didn’t stop there.
"I’m not a good person, and I won’t say you’ll be the only woman I know."
I tilted her chin upward until our eyes locked. "But what I can tell you is that I will never leave you, even if it costs me my life."
Quincy’s tone softened as a blush crept across her cheeks. "And what happens if you leave me?"
I took her hand and wrapped it around my neck. "Then kill me. I won’t resist."
I wasn’t here to chase the past or some vague promise that Quincy would love me because of childhood ties.
Hell, I didn’t even want to lean on a relationship handed to me by someone else. Everything I built would be with my own hands.
Quincy’s breath caught, her grip around my neck tightening. "Do you mean it? You won’t resist?"
I managed a strained nod despite the chokehold.
"I’m not like other girls, Allen. You leaving me two minutes before a date ends can still be called leaving me."
"That’s..."
She looked at me, her usual gentle eyes now steely. "Can you take responsibility for everything you said? Do you promise you’ll never leave me?"
I tilted my head slightly, though my throat ached.
"I promise. I won’t resist if I betray you."
Her grip loosened as she asked, "Even if there are ten of us?"
"Even if there are ten."
She smiled brighter than ever. "I like you, Allen. I love you."
Such a crazy girl, really. Yet why did I find her wildness cute?
An emotionless master breaking free from her own rules.
A stubborn cop following her criminal lover to another world.
And a sweet but psychopathic girl.
Yeah, I was definitely screwed.
I formed the idol love sign with my thumb and index finger.
Quincy stared at it, then burst into laughter. "I don’t know if I should find that cute or not."
She moved even closer. "Allen, please go out with me."
Time seemed to slow. The rain outside faded into a distant hum; the only sound was our breathing.
I could feel her heartbeat through the soft press of her chest against my shoulder, the thin fabric of the polo doing little to hide her curves.
Our faces drew closer. My lips hovered near hers. Quincy’s eyes fluttered shut, a faint smile on her lips. I felt the heat of her breath, her body melting against mine.
I stood and gently lifted her onto the bed with a soft thud, then climbed over her.
Her breathing grew uneven, her hands clutching my shoulders.
Before either of us could hesitate, our lips met, softly and gently, testing the waters. The kiss was fleeting, yet it carried a certainty, a promise.
After a small gasp, the kiss deepened, hesitant at first, then more confident.
I could feel her possessiveness, her sweetness, her need to protect and hold me all at once.
I returned it, careful, letting the moment stretch, letting the world outside disappear entirely.
My hands slowly caressed her chest, the soft tender flesh responding under my touch.
For that brief moment, nothing else mattered. Not the magic, not the dungeons, not the chaos of school life. Just her, just me, just the rain, and the warmth of the blanket cocooning us.
Quincy looked away, her cheeks flushed. "Be gentle, okay? It’s my first time."
I smirked. "Don’t worry. I’m quite the gentleman."
