Chapter 11: The Blonde Lady

As kind as the gift from Juliette was, Adal found that it did not have much use to him.

It seemed the pen did not contain much previous knowledge, and was instead supposed to be used for future reference.

However, Adal already had Hyperthymesia, a condition that allowed him to perfectly remember every detail that happened in his life. The pen could still have its uses, but not as much as it would for someone else.

So, he decided to trade it.

Which meant he would have to leave his library.

One morning, Adal put on his black trench coat over his standard black pants and white buttoned shirt. He sheathed his dagger to his waist for good measure, and left the library, making sure to put up the "Closed" sign.

The streets of Fairwhite City were busy as always.

Humans walked the street, as it was the only race allowed within the cities of the Torn Kingdom.

The library was located on the outskirts, so it would get even busier the further he travelled towards the city.

Instead, Adal called out to a chariot. This chariot was similar to a taxi on Earth, as it could take you anywhere within the Fairwhite City.

The only difference was that it was pulled by a man on a horse.

"Where you off to, sir?" The man asked, holding out his hand, waiting for Adal to pay him the coin fee.

Adal flicked a singular copper coin with the face of the king into the man’s hand.

"To Masonage Street please."

"Yes, sir." The man winked, as he opened his doors for Adal.

Shortly afterwards, they were off.

The chariot travelled around the outskirts of the streets, passing all sorts of factories, schools, and stores.

Eventually, it arrived at a street quieter than most, which was were Adal was let out.

On this street was a store that received so few customers that you would think it wasn’t even open.

Adal, however, was a well-educated man.

He knew that this was a common meeting spot for those who wished to trade magical items.

He stepped into the store named "The Nameless Den."

The store was simple. There a old lady behind a rusty wooden counter, with a staircase behind her leading down into the attic, where many magical items were hidden.

You could give the woman a magical item, and she would offer you an item of roughly equal value if possible.

Her name was Granny Cho, and on that day, she happened to be busy.

Adal noticed there was already another customer at the desk, holding an item wrapped in fabric.

He stepped closer to get a better look at the customer and listen in on the conversation.

"Granny, you don’t understand. If I don’t get rid of this item, I will get in serious trouble."

It was a woman, dressed in a long black trench coat, and a large black hat that she wore to clearly cover most of the features of her face.

She had a mischievous look to her, which was confirmed by her strange words.

Why would you own a Magical Item that could get you in trouble, young lady?

Granny Cho glared up at the lady and wagged her finger back on fourth.

"No, no stolen items allowed! You always bring trouble to my store. Hmph, Granny will not deal with criminals."

"B-but it’s not—"

"No!"

The lady in the trench coat paused for a few moments, before turning around and preparing to storm out of the store.

Then she spotted Adal. She looked up at the blonde man who wore a smile on his face.

Adal got a better look at her.

She too was blonde, blue-eyed, and extremely pretty. From the looks of it, she seemed to be a noblewoman.

Why does a noblewoman have a stolen item?

"Can I help you?" The lady asked, with a clear nervousness on her face, which she tried her best to hide.

Adal squinted his eyes and smiled kindly. He then looked down at the item covered in fabric in her hands.

"Whatever is in there, I will trade with you." 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺

His words caught her off guard, as her eyes went wide.

She paused before speaking.

"Trade what, exactly? This item is of extreme worth. It must be a magical item that you are hoping to trade for."

Oh, come on ma’am, I heard your conversation with Granny. You would trade almost anything to get rid of that item. You do not want the guilt to hang over you.

Still, Adal reached into his pocket and pulled out the Remember’s Pen which he intended to trade with Granny.

Before he could even speak, the woman snatched it out of his hand and thrust her own item into his hand to replace it.

"Deal."

Afterwards, she spun on her heels and left the door.

Adal looked down at his hands and wondered whether he should chase after the woman.

After all, what if she had just robbed him, and placed an item of no value into his hands?

He swiftly unwrapped the item and examined it.

One look told him all he needed to know.

This was an item that he absolutely had to keep.

[Magic Item: Earth Artefact #87]

[Grade: ?]

[Description: Earth Artefact #87 is a device that can be used on the female genitalia to produce severe sexual pleasure]

It cannot be...

Adal lifted the item and looked at it carefully. Its end was still damp with what he assumed were the love fluids of the woman who had just left the store.

This is a vibrator. I’m not the only thing that managed to make it from Earth to Boen!

Where did that lady find this?

Adal swiftly wrapped the vibrator back up and ran outside, looking left and right.

He saw the woman walking fast down the street, trying to escape and hide her embarrassment.

Sorry, ma’am, but my curiosity is much more important than your dignity. I have a few questions to ask you about your private life.

Adal followed after her.
