The Lust Lord Librarian-Chapter 21: The Tailors
For the next few days, Adal searched and searched.
Yet no matter what, he could find no information on the Fortune family.
Lorraine was like a mystery. There was nothing to be found out about her.
Strange.
He rubbed at his chin in deep thought.
I’ll have to wait until she turns up here again. When she does, I’ll ask her directly.
By the day’s end, the mailman arrived at the Alexandrus Library with a letter with a royal stamp on it.
This confused him. Since he had no family, he never received any mail unless it was related to taxes.
He swiftly opened the note and gawked at it in surprise.
It was a party invitation from Leonard Everstone.
It was one of those noble parties that took place in the most grand halls in Fairwhite City.
The man mentioned that he should bring the copies of his novel that he had made and hand them out to the other members.
There would be rich men and women there. Perhaps even the Prince himself.
Adal knew he would feel completely out of place there, but he could not turn down such an offer.
Leonard was one of his investors after all. It was important to keep up good relations with the man.
And besides, Juliette would be there too. That could certainly make the event worth attending.
The party was set for the weekend, which meant that Adal had five days to find acceptable clothing.
...
Adal stepped out the next morning into the sunny streets of Fairwhite City. The streets were packed with children and adults alike, and vendors called out to him as he made his way closer towards the centre of the city.
Currently, he was dressed in his casual wear. Black pants and a long-sleeved buttoned shirt. He walked while reading a book in his hand.
Eventually, he arrived at the ’Suits and Boots’ tailor and made his way inside. The smell of perfume and fabrics stung his nose.
"Hello, sir. What can I do for you?"
A man, the tailor, called out to him as he entered. He was a moustached man dressed in a gorgeous red suit.
Adal told him what he needed and the man wasted no time heading to the back of the store to fetch him the suit.
As Adal waited, two more customers entered the store.
It was the first time Adal had seen a man taller than himself in a long while.
He was dressed in a white suit that he easily filled out with muscle. He had a scar that claimed one eye, yet his face was still chiselled and handsome.
The man had a strange aura to him. He even carried a longsword over his back, which was much more than the dagger that most men carried.
And besides him was a woman of absurd beauty. She lifted a cigarette to her red lips, which were the same colour as her fiery hair. Her dress was red too, as matching colours were common in the Torn Kingdom.
The first thing Adal did was check the woman’s sexual partner history.
He did this often, as it would tell him the woman’s name, and hopefully give her the name of the man beside her.
[Diana Valberta’s Sexual Partners]
[1. Vincente Alonso]
The Valberta family, I’ve never heard of them.
However, that Alonso. Assuming he is the man beside her, I recognise his name very well.
He was also on Penelope’s sexual partner list.
...
Do all the noble world sleep around with each other, or is Penelope just a sly whore?
"Vincente! How great it is to see you." The tailor said as he emerged from the back of the store, holding a black suit. "And you Lady Valberta. You look as beautiful as ever."
Vincente looked the tailor up and down, examining the suit in his hand closely.
The tailor became flustered.
"T-this isn’t for you sir. I would never suggest a suit of such poor quality to you."
He then handed the suit to Adal, yet he merely looked at the librarian for a second. He was more focused on his new customers.
"I will be right back with your suit Vincente. Oh, as for you sir, please leave the cash on the counter. The price tag is on the clothing."
With that, Adal was left alone with the suit in his hand.
He looked at it carefully.
This is a poor-quality suit? It looks fine to me.
He reached into his pocket and pulled out the required amount of notes, placing them on the counter.
"Are you attending this weekend’s party?" A deep voice suddenly spoke.
Adal turned towards it. The man with the scar glared at him unkindly.
His red-haired woman was hardly paying attention to him. She continued to smoke her cigarette.
Adal smiled at the man.
"Yes, I am."
Vincente Alonso nodded his head.
"What do you do for work?" He scrutinised.
"Me? I am just a humble librarian."
Now the man’s brows were raised.
"A librarian managed to receive an invitation to a party hosted by Leonard Everstone?" He asked, clearly unable to believe it.
Adal couldn’t help but chuckle. He didn’t respond with words.
Vincente eventually shrugged his shoulders.
"Leonard has always been kind." He said to his lady, Diana. "I guess he is allowing commoners into his parties. This will surely affect his reputation."
But Diana wasn’t listening. She seemed to be too good for conversation.
Instead, she was focused on a dress displayed on one of the mannequins.
"Could you buy this for me? It’s beautiful." She said in a mature, delicate voice.
"Of course, my love."
With the attention no longer on him, Adal left the store with the suit in hand.
As he left the building and started heading back home, he realised that the woman had not looked at him once during his time in the tailor’s.
It showed what the nobles thought of commoners, and people without status.
It made him wonder what this party might be like.
For some reason, he had a feeling that it would be more eventful than he had previously expected...
