The Lust Lord Librarian-Chapter 35: Exposing Secrets
Once Adal had arrived back home at the library, he immediately knew that he was not alone.
He always left a coin attached to a piece of string, which was then attached to the door handle. If the door were opened, the position of the coin would be moved.
It had.
Just as he was preparing to draw his dagger, and use Mana Coating, the intruder emerged from behind a bookshelf, holding a book in her hand.
White hair fell straight to pale shoulders.
Pink eyes fluttered under the moonlight seeping in through the window.
"Opal?"
The clothing that the woman wore was clearly not the clothing of the realm.
Today, she looked... Different.
She wore a red dress that almost seemed tribal in style. It fell from her shoulders, revealing her breast line and collarbone.
There was a small crown on her head, seemingly made from silver.
She wore no socks or shoes, leaving her bare feet on display.
"Adal," Opal said, smiling as she saw him. "My father has given you his response."
Adal’s body relaxed as he realised that the intruder was just a friend.
Still, that left questions.
"Opal, how did you get in here?"
"Oh, I used an Outer Realm Gate to your room. I apologise, but I had to do it. Father wants you to use it to visit him. He wishes to see you in person."
"..."
So you are telling me that right now, there is a portal waiting for me in my bedroom that will take me to the Iglantis Kingdom?
Adal sighed and urged Opal to explain.
And so she did.
Her Father, King Elios Overlove had accepted two of Adal’s conditions.
First, he would allow him to get rid of the royal family, as long as it was done within thirty days.
Second, if he succeeded in dealing with the royal family, and also found success with his library in the Iglantis Kingdom, he would grant him Opal’s hand in marriage.
As for the third condition, the secret identity, the King had said masking Opal as a Torn Kingdom human was easy, but turning a Torn Kingdom human into an Iglantian was different.
Instead, he offered a different option.
Adal could forsake his features, and be converted to that of an Iglantian.
His hair would turn white, his eyes pink, and his skin pale..
The only issue with this was that the change would be permanent, through the use of a magical artefact.
Adal decided to hold off on that for now. It was not as necessary, and only intended to use it in order assimilate into the Iglantis Kingdom properly.
"If you wish to continue with this deal, then I can take you through the portal. It will lead us right to the Great Iglantis Palace, where my father will meet you face to face. He says that he wishes to see you before events commence."
Adal did not need to think for long. His decision had already been made when he first sent the king his proposal.
The thirty-day time limit could prove difficult, but Adal was not stressed. He had plans regarding the royal family and how he would deal with them.
"Alright. Take me to your father."
With a smile, Opal did as she said. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂
The two headed upstairs toward the room. Before even entering, Adal could hear a quiet humming sound coming from behind the door.
Once inside, a bright golden light stung his eyes, forcing him to cover them.
The portal hovered above his bed. It was what you would expect from a portal.
An oval-shaped light that seemed to exist impossibly. If you stared into it, you could see nothing that was beyond.
"Hold my hand, and don’t let go!" Opal shouted over the loud hum.
With scepticism, Adal did as he said. Then, the pair leapt in.
...
One moment passed, and he had already emerged.
Adal’s vision was blurry. He looked around, stunned.
Before he could come to be, he felt something sharp press against his neck from both sides, and the sound of metal clanking around him.
He didn’t move. Instead, he waited for his vision to unblur.
It was clear that he was in a throne room.
Dark stone walls rose around him, lit by dim torches. Pillars stretched tall on either side of the room, stretching to a ceiling far above.
A red carpet beneath his feet led to a raised platform, where a throne lay. Atop the throne sat an older man, with pale skin, frail white hair, and wearing a pink bear pelt as clothing.
As for Adal’s neck, two swords were being pressed against it from two men standing on either side of him.
They were dressed like Princes, with patterned capes and sigils representing their kingdom.
They looked similar, and both wore looks of anger on their young faces.
"Leave him alone, brothers. I told you, he is harmless!"
Opal’s voice sounded from the sidelines. It seemed that she had somehow dodged the traps of blades.
Harmless? I disagree.
Eventually, the swords lowered.
"Better to be safe than sorry." One of the brothers spat.
"Step forward and meet your king." Ordered the other.
Adal wanted to snap back at the two men, but decided to leave it. After all, a king was waiting for him.
He stepped up the staircase and stood before the man on the throne, silently.
The man watched Adal closely with pink eyes.
There were other people in the throne room. Knights and servants. Yet at that moment, it felt like it was only them.
"So, this is the man who dares send conditions to the King of Iglantis?"
Suddenly, the man’s eyes glowed a brighter pink, and Adal felt like his soul was being searched.
"Hmph, level 9. Who are you, boy? Where do you get your confidence from? How will a boy like you get rid of the royal family? A kid with no status!"
Somehow, the man has been able to read Adal’s level. He wasn’t sure how to feel about that.
Still, all he did was shrug his shoulders, keeping that same kind smile on his face.
"Do not underestimate me, your Majesty. There is more than one path to power, and I am more powerful than you might think."
The king furrowed his brow.
Adal turned to one of the brothers who had pushed swords up to his neck.
He pointed at one of them. The older looking one.
"For example, I know that your oldest son, Bravo, is a traitor who secretly enjoys relationships with Dwarf women, despite your bad relationships with them. I wonder, what sort of information does he whisper to Frida Emberhand as he explores her small body?"
The room fell silent.
