Chapter 119: The making of...

When they finished catching up, Ember decided it was time for them to go to the Forge. This was where they needed to go to create the neural network. This was a function the CE had. Though they had never really been able to use it before.

To make things in the forge, it needs the right material. These materials are things they may not necessarily have. The entire reason they were eager to get the zombie brain stem is because of the forge.

They made their way to the forge. On the way, they passed Cassandra, Luka, and Alen. Luka was holding Cassandra close to him, trying to ignore Alen. Alen was obviously too close for Luka’s comfort.

Ember laughed a little, seeing this. She shook her head as they walked past.

The design was simple. If they hadn’t known the room was called the Forge, they may have overlooked it. It was a simple chamber with a large platform. Ember walked up the platform to get the things out of the space.

When everyone saw the multitude of zombie heads that came out of the space, they couldn’t help but gag.

It had been a while since they had been outside. They had almost forgotten that such things even existed.

"Do you smell it?" Ember asked. "That’s what outside smells like."

"We know," Sarah said, pinching her nose. "We knew when we went outside in the rain. I almost threw up."

Ember nodded. She understood completely because she had to endure being outside for quite some time. Now she was back, she didn’t want to leave. But they needed more people for the base.

Staying here by themselves makes no sense. They would need to find more people to live with them if they wanted to generate CL. Being in Valentina’s base let them know they had a lot of work to do.

Valentina was able to use those people like farm tools. They needed people who were willing to make their lives better through sex. They would not force them to have sex. But more people meant more CL.

This was the nature of the base and the nature of this world. Everything she had seen so far had them gearing up for something sexual. Whatever that ’something’ might be, Ember was not aware...yet.

So here they stood with the zombie heads, crystals, and neuro silver, on a platform. As soon as they placed the items, a holographic screen appeared. It gave different choices for the neural network they wanted to build.

In the end, they chose something resembling a button. A click of that button would send a pulse to the recipient’s brain. It linked their brainwaves to show whatever images had been preset.

Using a screen, they could see all the things the people they selected were doing.

Ember had thought it would be a helmet of some kind. She hadn’t realized that using a pulse button would also bring the same result.

From the items they had, they were able to create five pulse buttons.

The forge allowed them to set up a trail for them to walk through. It did not give the actual distance from the military base to theirs. Rather, it had them travel along the roads and stop at a trail that they would use nearby.

This was what was input into the pulse button. This way, no one would be sure of where the base was actually located.

"My most precious invention," Ivan crooned.

"The Forge’s creation," Ember countered. "All you did was sit there and look."

"Well, the forge belongs to all of us. So it’s still my creation," Ivan argued.

"Whatever you say," Ember said slyly. "How about I borrow Cassia for a few days. We all live here, so it’s fine if I borrow her for a bit, right?"

Ivan narrowed his eyes at Ember’s mischievous smirk. "If you borrow her, you need to bring her back in the same condition or better."

Ember guffawed. "She isn’t an item. What would she say if she heard you right now?"

Ivan shrugged. "It doesn’t matter. She’s mine. Item or not. I could tell her to pretend to be a chair, and she would do it."

"Don’t push your luck too much," Alex warned.

They left the forge, heading back to their respective chambers. They would use the pulse buttons when they decided on how to approach new members. In the meantime, they mainly talked about everything and nothing on the way back. 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎

When they approached Ivan and Cassia’s room, they saw Cassia leaving.

Ember, who liked to watch the world burn, walked up to Cassia.

"Ivan told me you would be a chair for him. Is it true?"

Ember watched as Cassia’s face became red. For a girl who was able to match Ivan in sexual appetite, she turned red very easily. At least this was what Ember thought.

She watched Cassia’s eyes dart from her to Ivan, a questioning look in her eye.

"Don’t mind her," Ivan said. "She’s looking for something to do and decided you were an easy target."

Turning to Ivan, she said, "I did no such thing. I’m really curious." Then back to Cassia, she said, "So would you do it...If he asked you to?"

Cassia pursed her lips and nodded. Ember grinned. "Then can I watch? I’m curious about what you two do when you’re alone. I need to know how kinky your chiar sex would be."

"I second that," Adrienne said, eyes shining.

Everyone looked at her, not expecting her to join in on the mischief.

Adrienne looked at everyone and said, "I’m genuinely serious. Would she be able to keep the position at all times? Or would the ’chair’ collapse?"

"Now I’m even more convinced. I need to know." Ember giggled. "We’ll stand at the door. We won’t come inside. Just show me if it’s possible."

Ember opened her eyes wide, batting them innocently. The other waited to see if Ivan would allow it.
