The Lustful Villain: Every Milfs and Gilfs are Mine!-Chapter 101. The Author Is Typing Shit at This Point. (I Agree With Myself.)
The seven maids made a circle around Rex and the three prisoners. They started chanting in unison, and their voices blended together in a language that Rex’s system recognized as Demonic Formal, a formalized version of the demon tongue used for complicated magic.
’I thought they spoke gibberish, but it’s a demon language indeed...’
Energy gathered around them, and it was much more stable and controlled than when Lilith teleported by herself. This was collaborative casting on a level that needed a lot of practice and skill to do well.
The world twisted, compressed, and spiraled inward.
ZWIIINNGGGG~!
When reality came back, everything was different.
They were not in a clearing in the woods anymore. They were in what looked like a huge underground room.
The light seemed to come from everywhere and nowhere, and the room was so big that Rex couldn’t see the walls or ceiling.
"Whoa... what the fuck is this place...?" Rex starts looking around.
The architecture was strange and beautiful, with flowing curves and angles that looked like they had been carved by will rather than tools.
Dark stone pillars rose up at random times, and they were covered in glowing runes that pulsed in a steady rhythm. The floor was smooth obsidian that looked like a mirror.
And Rex could see movement beyond the area right around him. Rex observed numerous instances of unusual movement.
There were demons, but there were also other things he couldn’t put a name to right away. These entities were characterized by an abundance of arms or eyes.
There were objects that appeared to fade in and out of sight. These objects were challenging to describe, as their intricate geometries eluded his understanding.
"This is... some kind of a place for weirdos," Rex thought to himself. "Nah... this place is probably full of different races that are associated with demons."
"All of them looked unique, and even the women..." Rex felt both confused and shocked when he saw a woman with five breasts. "Five boobs...!? This fantasy world is weird..."
"The author is typing shit at this point..."
"Welcome to the Underlayer," Lilith said as she walked up to him.
She sounded proud, like she was showing off her home to a guest. "The deepest level of space that a living being can live in is below the surface of this wonderful planet~!"
"Right now... we’re about 300 miles below the surface, and we are so close to the planet’s core!"
While Rex thought about what he had just learned, he kept looking around. Three hundred miles below the surface would put them well past the crust and into the upper mantle by any reasonable geological standards, but clearly this world worked on different rules.
"How is there air down here?" He asked, "How can any of this happen?"
"A lot of complicated magic," Sera said, as if that made everything clear.
It probably did, to be fair.
"The Underlayer is a pocket dimension that is connected to the real world but not completely limited by its laws... The demon lords set up their domains there thousands of years ago after the great wars drove them from the surface."
She waved her arms around to show the group what was in their surroundings. "This is one of seven major population centers in the Underlayer."
"This city, called Erebus’s Rest, has about two hundred thousand demons and other exotic creatures living in it."
"Well... let’s just say it’s a paradise for monsters that’s out there for managing to live in this wonderful world!" Lilith said, with both hands raised.
Rex’s view grew, and he could see more. He could now see structures in the distance that looked like they were organized for living.
Buildings cut from stone, streets arranged in ways that made sense when you thought about how the space was three-dimensional, and places that looked like markets or meeting places where people gathered.
"Interesting... there’s a lot more to learn from this world, huh." Rex held his chin while thinking.
"There are other races down here besides demons," Mika said, pointing to a group of creatures that were walking by.
"The Shadeveil, who are born from a lot of darkness."
"The Voidkin, who live partly outside of normal reality."
"The Fleshweavers, who can change their own bodies at will. There are also many other small races that do not have official names."
"The Underlayer is run by a council of demon lords," Clara went on to say. "Each lord is in charge of a certain area and keeps things in order there."
"Lord Mordecai is in charge of the northern part of this area, which includes Erebus’s Rest and three smaller settlements."
Yuna, who had been quiet until now, spoke up in a low voice. "It’s not like the surface, where demons are hunted and killed on sight."
"Down here, we have civilization, culture, art, music, philosophy, and all the things that the surface world says we can’t do."
Rex took all of this in and put it away for later. "There’s a lot of important and unimportant shit going on all here... but for now I’ll ignore that until I face that motherfucker Mordecai."
A whole hidden civilization under the surface of the world significantly affected his long-term plans. Also, the fact that it was so organized meant that the demon threat was much more complicated than just monsters attacking human settlements.
"How do demons act on the surface?" He asked, "What do they have in common?"
"Well... it’s hard," Sera said. "Most demons never come up to the surface."
"They like living down here where it’s safe, but the demon lords have networks of spies and sometimes raid the surface world to get resources and remind humans that we still exist."
"Lord Mordecai is busier than most." Lilith added, "He thinks that demons should eventually take back the surface, not necessarily through war but by making friends and showing that we’re not the monsters that humans who live on the surface think we are."
"Is that why he was giving out the Demon Seed?" Rex asked, wanting to know how they would explain that.
Nyx laughed in a bitter way. "The Demon Seed was a mistake."
"Lord Mordecai thought that if he could create agents who lived on the surface and had demon strength but kept their human minds, it would bring our demons together."
"But the transformation process is more corruptive than he thought. Most subjects lose themselves to demon nature and become exactly the kind of monsters he was trying to prove we aren’t."
Sera said, "He’s been working on the formula, but so far, the results have been at best inconsistent and at worst... terrible."
"What the fuck...? That’s it...? The only twist that I’ve been looking for?" Rex thought to himself. "It seems like this demon lord really is a fraud if he’s a reincarnator."
They had been talking and walking along a path that went through the city streets. Rex said that other demons and creatures avoided them, either because they knew the maids were Mordecai’s servants or sensed something about Rex that made them wary.
The buildings around them were captivating because they were so different from what they were used to. They were surrounded by structures that spiraled up in ways that should have been impossible for them to accomplish.
The streets appeared as though they were curved in dimensions beyond three. Public spaces, shaped by impossible physics, evoked a combination of beauty and terror for those accustomed to conventional geometry.
And then, above everything else, there was a building that could only be Mordecai’s palace.
It was huge, at least as big as a big castle, but it was built in a way that had nothing to do with surface architecture. The black stone made flowing organic shapes, making it look like the building had grown instead of being built.
Towers twisted off at weird angles and were connected by bridges that seemed to defy gravity. The windows glowed with light from inside that changed colors in ways Rex couldn’t quite figure out.
"There it is~" Lilith said. "That’s home," and there was real love in her voice.
"Castle Nocturna is where Lord Mordecai’s power is based and where we all work."
