The Lustful Villain: Every Milfs and Gilfs are Mine!-Chapter 103. The Demon Lord’s Power Source Is Gambling. I Have So Many Questions.
"Let’s put an end to all of this bullshit... I am here to discuss the upcoming apostle gathering scheduled to take place in Aethelgard." Rex said the truth right away.
The throne room stayed still in that moment of tension, with Cassandra’s fist still hanging inches from Rex’s mask and all the demons watching to see what would happen next. Mordecai’s face went from casual interest to serious focus, the kind that made it seem like he was finally taking this situation seriously.
"Alright now, you can let her go," Mordecai said, and even though he didn’t look very strong, his voice was strong.
Rex’s telekinesis let up, and Cassandra took a step back before catching herself. Her face showed shock and anger, as if she had never been so completely beaten before.
She opened her mouth to say something, maybe a threat or a challenge, but Mordecai raised one hand, and she stopped talking right away.
Mordecai leaned forward on his throne and said, "You say you know something about the Apostle gathering."
"That kind of information is so important that you came all the way here to tell me in person... alright, I respect that choice, so I’m listening."
Rex used his foresight to quickly scan the room for any immediate threats or problems. He couldn’t find any, so he started to weave the story he had planned.
"The gathering is in three days." Rex said, "About twenty to twenty-five Apostles from different gods will meet at the Grand Academy in Aethelgard."
"They’re planning a multipronged attack on your demon strongholds, with the goal of destroying the Demon Seed production facilities and crippling your operations on the surface."
Mordecai’s eyes got smaller with suspicion. "How do you... know all of this?"
"Because I’ll be there," Rex said simply. "I can move through shadows without being seen, and I can be anywhere without anyone knowing I’m there."
"I can watch them plan, learn their strategies, and tell you everything in real time if I need to."
Of course, that was a lie. He would be there as Rex Rexilion, the supposed heroic reincarnation who had saved the Starlight family. But Mordecai didn’t need to know that.
"Are you sure you can spy on a group of divine champions without being seen?" Cassandra’s voice was doubtful. "That’s a brave thing to say that... it almost felt like a bland lie."
"I’ve been doing it for months." Rex said, "How do you think I found out about your attack on Aethelgard tonight?"
"I was in their defensive planning meetings, hearing everything... and I knew they were ready for a demon attack, I knew they had Apostles stationed all over the city, and I knew the attack would fail before it even started."
He stopped for a moment to let that sink in. "But I also saw an opportunity."
"The chaos of the battle let me get rid of some troublesome reincarnators and make myself useful to both sides at the same time."
"The surface world thinks I’m one of them, and the underground thinks I’m one of you. But the truth is... I serve neither."
"Then who do you serve?" Mordecai asked, and he sounded very interested.
Rex said, "Myself."
"I am also open to anyone who can assist me in achieving my goals, which is why I am making you this offer." Rex raised both his arms. "You want to weaken the defenses of the surface world."
"I can help you do that well, but I want your resources and the freedom to do what I want."
Mordecai was quiet for a while, which showed that he was really thinking about this. Rex could see the calculation going on behind those eyes as they weighed risks against possible rewards.
"Even though he looks like a midget, he still has some good sense not to trust someone right away."
’That fucking knowledge is clearly coming from his previous life...’
"You mentioned a name," Mordecai said finally. "When you introduced yourself to my maids, what should we call you?"
Rex then thinks for a second, and of course he can’t use his real name. So he just used the rapid answer instead.
"Lustful Villain." Rex said, "That’s the identity I take on when I wear this mask..."
Rex takes a deep breath and gets ready to spill some of his power as the Lustful Villain to raise their trust for the very least.
"My powers come from manipulating people’s desires and lust. I can tell what people want, make their cravings stronger, and use that weakness to control them."
"That’s how I knew Cassandra would attack me as soon as I finished speaking, and that’s how I know you’re more interested in proving yourself as a real ruler than actually taking over the surface world."
Cassandra made an upset noise, but Mordecai raised his hand again to tell her to be quiet. His face had changed to something more like respect and caution.
"A system based on lust... oh wow..." He whispered, "That’s not common at all!"
"Most people who reincarnate get combat or utility systems. You must have done something special to get that blessing."
"You’re probably a pervert bastard, huh?" Mordecai said jokingly with a laugh.
"I am," Rex answered without hesitation.
"Anyway." Rex shrugged and said, "I made an impression on the right goddess."
"Now that I’ve shown you mine, you show me yours..."
"What system are you using, Demon Lord Mordecai? How do you have the power to control so many demons and attack fortified cities at the same time?"
Rex thought for a second that Mordecai might not answer. Keeping his skills a secret would have been the smart thing to do, but either Mordecai was sure enough of his position to be honest, or he just wanted to show off to someone who might like it.
"Gacha," Mordecai said, and there was no doubt that he was proud of it. "My system is called Demon King’s Infinite Gacha."
’Gacha...? Like some gambling shit you found in the arcade or games these days...?’
"Every day, I can summon demon units based on a randomized pull system, and the quality ranges from common foot soldiers to legendary unique entities."
He waved his hand around the throne room. "Most of my troops are SSR or higher-rank summons."
"Cassandra here is one of only three SSS-rank pulls I’ve gotten in two years of using the system," Mordecai smiled. "She’s irreplaceable, so I’m glad you didn’t actually hurt her."
Rex really wanted to know what that information meant. A gacha system helped him understand how Mordecai’s power worked.
He wasn’t getting people to join his army the usual way, like by recruiting or breeding. He was basically pulling random demon units from a lottery system and sending them out to fight.
That was strong and weak at the same time. It was powerful because it meant he could easily make up for losses as long as his gacha pulls were beneficial.
It was limiting because he couldn’t choose what he received, and his best units were irreplaceable.
Rex said, "That’s really impressive," and he meant it.
"How many pulls do you get each day?"
"Ten standard pulls," Mordecai said. "Or I can save up currency to do multi-pulls that guarantee better results."
"That’s how I got Cassandra. I saved for three months and then did a huge fifty-pull that had three SSS-rank summons, which are the highest-ranking characters in the game.
"And the common pulls? What do they give you?"
"Mostly cannon fodder like those Imp variants, lesser demons, and things that are useful for overwhelming defenses through sheer numbers but don’t have much individual power." Mordecai’s face darkened a little. "The attack tonight killed about two thousand common-rank summons."
"They can be replaced, but it’s still painful to lose that many at once."
Rex put all of this information away as something useful he should remember for the future. Mordecai’s power came from a system for managing resources that gave random results.
That meant that his effectiveness depended a lot on luck, and he needed his rare high-quality summons for any serious fighting.
"Alright, that’s it then. Thank you for that information." Rex crossed his arms. "Let’s go back to the main topic."
Rex changed the subject and said, "There’s something else you need to know."
"You should know about one Apostle at the meeting. His name is Apollo Brightsoul."
"Wait a minute..." Mordecai’s face quickly turned dark. "That name... I know that name!"
"He’s an Apostle of Life and a Paladin. He has led three successful raids on demon settlements in the last year."
"He’s more dangerous than you think," Rex said next. "For now I can predict that Apollo has a Harem King system that the Goddess of Life herself blessed."
"He gets stronger the more devoted nine women are to him, and as long as his harem is alive, he can’t be killed. Every time they fight together, they get stronger."
Rex leaned forward a little, and even though his face was covered, it still showed how serious he was. "Apollo and any reincarnators connected to the Goddess of Life are the biggest threats to reincarnators who choose the villain path."
"The Goddess of Life sees us as corruption that needs to be cleaned up. She trains her Apostles to hunt people like us." 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂
"Then we have to get rid of him," Cassandra said right away. "Send our best troops to surprise him at the meeting."
"No," Rex said without any emotion. "That’s exactly what you shouldn’t do."
"Apollo loves to fight directly. He’s a combat expert who gets stronger when he faces impossible odds because it activates his heroic narrative buffs."
"Sending demons after him just gives him experience and makes him stronger. That’s going to be a death wish for you all..."
He put his arms across his chest. "Leave Apollo to me."
"You take care of the other Apostles and the defenses around Aethelgard. Don’t waste your resources on a target that I can take out more easily."
