The Master of Beasts-Chapter 744 - 228_2
This number is so long, so long that Chen Jiuge can't feel the limitation of life span at all!
"Is a thousand Hui Yuan a long time?" Lucifer shook the gourd in his hand as he approached.
"I don't know the life span limit of your human clan's Daluo, but for our Evil Ghost Clan, the limit is about one hundred thousand Hui Yuan, and I have a little more than eighteen thousand years left."
"Ah?" Chen Jiuge examined Lucifer with a strange look; this guy is really old, yet you can't tell at all.
"Hey, what kind of look is that? I'm telling you the truth. I just spend most of my time sleeping. If it weren't for sleeping consuming so little life span, I'd probably be a pile of yellow soil by now." Lucifer said indignantly.
"No offense, no offense, anyway, you have lived far longer than I have."
"And according to this life span limit, even if there is a life span limitation, those Daluo wouldn't be worried!" Chen Jiuge said with some emotion, the Heavenly Gate's plan was doomed to fail.
"You've got it wrong!" Lucifer's face gradually turned serious: "Your human clan actually has many old monsters, but those old monsters are clever at self-preservation."
"When our clan once dominated the True Realm, I met a human who was even stronger than me. At that time, I thought I was surely dead, but unexpectedly, he was afraid that killing me would draw attention from our clan, found it too troublesome, so just let me go!"
"Those ancient relics are the most anxious ones, chaos is about to begin!"
"Could it really be?" Chen Jiuge was very confused, this was even more bizarre than listening to mythological stories!
........
The True Realm is home to nine forbidden lands. Apart from Ming Sea, which is not considered very dangerous, the other eight are genuinely taboo. It can be said that anyone below a Golden Immortal entering there would certainly die, and even a Golden Immortal would face a life or death struggle.
Among them, the Tomb of Death is the most perilous. While other forbidden lands have some surviving tales, including Golden Immortals finding supreme treasures, the Tomb of Death is different. As its name suggests, death, no one has ever returned from entering.
Over the years, cultivators uninhibited by the taboo ventured one after another into it, but not a trace emerged.
Gray mist shrouded the sky above the Tomb of Death, with withered trees whimsically scattered across the land like clawing monsters. The sporadic croaks of crows perched on tree branches added a touch of mourning.
"Coo, Coo, Coo"
A Ghost-faced Frog, emaciated with glowing red eyes, relentlessly scanned the earth, trying to spot food to fill its empty belly.
Unassumingly, the Ghost-faced Frog spotted a small beetle.
"Gwa!"
Excited, it let out a croak, moved swiftly, and devoured it, showing a wide grin.
Ah, it's devoured! Truly a delight for the frog!
Who can comprehend how hard it is to find something fresh and warm in this forsaken place!
"How dare little frogs creep onto this elder's tomb, truly infuriating!"
A raspy voice like an evil spirit echoed, startling the Ghost-faced Frog which then noticed it had stepped on a taboo of the Tomb of Death—the tombstone!
Numerous tombstones stood crookedly on this land; it's strange that although they look lopsided, and despite strong winds, none had toppled onto the ground!
A patch of gray mist descended, eventually forming into a small gray hand that then grabbed the Ghost-faced Frog, which would normally terrify even the loose cultivators, and crushed it into fragments.
Red blood splattered onto the black tombstone, the wood tombstone began to make a creepy sucking sound, almost as if it were alive.
"Life span?"
"Life span?"
"Life span?"
Unclear voices came from underneath the tombstones, filled with puzzlement from these ancient monsters who had slumbered for countless Hui Yuan.
"Why is there a life span limitation appearing? Didn't we thoroughly sever the path of life span back then?" shouted an ancient monster whose life span was nearing its end, in agitation.
"Something's wrong, something's wrong. The Great Leader once said, the path cannot be severed. Could it be the Heavenly Dao repaired the path of life span?"
"But the timing isn't right; according to our calculations, the reappearance of the path of life span should still be years away!"
"Let Little Nine take a look, he's the youngest among us, should withstand the outside erosion!"
The Tomb of Death, beyond its forbidden status, also served as a hiding spot against the Heavenly Dao, severing the path of life span may sound lofty, but its repercussions were serious.
Everyone's aura here was recorded by the Heavenly Dao; if they blatantly stepped outside, they'd be smote by the Heavenly Dao!
However, now that the Heavenly Dao had replenished the life span path, a direct heavenly punishment wouldn't descend.
After all, the Heavenly Dao is emotionless, as long as it doesn't affect its operation, nothing serious would happen, it bears no bias against any cultivator.
"Crack"
A precariously tilting rhombic tombstone suddenly cracked, and the persistent tombstone, at this moment, finally collapsed.
A pale, overly white hand reached out from the black earth, followed by a second hand.
"Bang"
With force from both hands, the person called Little Nine appeared stark naked on the ground.
"Ah, what a comfortable sleep this was."
A handsome face bore a mischievous grin, starry eyes with a hint of purple shadow adding allure, lips startling white like a corpse, making Little Nine seem extremely wicked.
"Little Nine, you're the youngest among us; go outside and investigate why the path of life span's restoration is ahead of schedule!"
"Boss, no worries, I'll guarantee the task is completed!" Little Nine smirked.
"Hmm, go then!"
"Swish"
The bright sunlight shone upon Little Nine's slightly eerie face, making him appear exceptionally pale.
"It's been so very long since I last saw such a scene!" Little Nine looked at the sunlit palm with tears over his face.
"Boom, Boom, Boom"
A sudden thunderous rumble interrupted Little Nine's emotional moment.
"How irritating!" Little Nine glanced disdainfully at the appearing heavenly tribulation above!
The sunbeam in his palm transformed from golden to purple-black, Little Nine revealed a sinister smile: "Let me see, how much has the Heavenly Dao restored after being severed by the Great Leader!"
"Divine Skills—Annihilation!"
A purple-black beam shot skyward, piercing through the dense heavenly tribulation.
The surrounding tribulation clouds struggled to mend it, yet unable to heal, seemingly as if a force of destruction swirled around, ceaselessly dissolving the replenishing heavenly tribulation.
Watching calmly the tribulation clouds' alteration above, Little Nine's face turned serious: "It didn't directly collapse, looks like the Heavenly Dao's restoration is swift!"
Noticing the difficulty to repair, the clouds rolled vigorously before dispersing.
Such is the Heavenly Dao, it may seem incompetent, yet that isn't the case; its rule is bestowing tribulations, with every mistake comes a tribulation, albeit the power of latter tribulations increasing with frequency.
"Phew, fortunately I'm not the boss and them, not many tribulations; if the boss came out, he'd probably be blasted into ashes!"
Suddenly, Little Nine thought about something amusing and burst into peculiar laughter: "If I tricked them into coming out, I'd be the boss!"
"Hahaha"
The wild yet odd laughter reverberated through the air.
"Hm, someone, unlucky for them!"
Eyeing the approaching loose cultivators from afar, Little Nine's lips curled into a sympathetic expression.
The Tomb of Death
"Is Little Nine reliable?"
"Should be reliable, although he was the last to join, he's the most erratic, naturally belongs with us!"
"I'm still worried; should I take a look?"
"Little Eight, trust Little Nine, we are companions!"
With the boss's word, everyone remained silent.
Little Eight was uneasy, recalling his conversation with Little Nine when he first joined, his worry intensified.
"Little Nine, why did you join us?"
Little Nine showed a wide smile: "Of course, for fun!"
"Severing the Heavenly Dao, it sounds so thrilling, so much fun!"
"Fun?"
"Yeah, fun!"
The genuine smile on Little Nine's naive face still sent chills down Little Eight's spine upon recollection; such a person exists!
"Well, the boss should know."
Comforting himself, Little Eight once again fell into slumber.
